Former ‘Brain Dead Liberal’ Filmmaker Pens Scathing Column on Gun Control: ‘A Political Appeal to the Ignorant’

David Mamet, writer/director/executive producer of the film “Phil Spector,” addresses reporters during the HBO Winter TCA Press Tour at the Langham Huntington Hotel on Friday, Jan. 4, 2013, in Pasadena, Calif. (Photo: AP)
Pulitzer Award-winning author, producer and director David Mamet has been extremely open about his conversion from “brain dead liberal” to conservative, and in the wake of President Obama’s latest push for stricter gun control measures, Mamet has penned yet another column setting the record straight as he sees it.
In an article for Newsweek, the writer of “Glengarry Glen Ross” and “Hannibal” begins with a cutting analysis of centralized government (all subsequent emphasis added):
Karl Marx summed up Communism as “from each according to his ability, to each according to his needs.” This is a good, pithy saying, which, in practice, has succeeded in bringing, upon those under its sway, misery, poverty, rape, torture, slavery, and death.
For the saying implies but does not name the effective agency of its supposed utopia. The agency is called “The State,” and the motto, fleshed out, for the benefit of the easily confused must read “The State will take from each according to his ability: the State will give to each according to his needs.” “Needs and abilities” are, of course, subjective. So the operative statement may be reduced to “the State shall take, the State shall give.”
Mamet proceeds to tackle gun control head-on, writing:
The Left loves a phantom statistic that a firearm in the hands of a citizen is X times more likely to cause accidental damage than to be used in the prevention of crime, but what is there about criminals that ensures that their gun use is accident-free? If, indeed, a firearm were more dangerous to its possessors than to potential aggressors, would it not make sense for the government to arm all criminals, and let them accidentally shoot themselves? Is this absurd? Yes, and yet the government, of course, is arming criminals.
Violence by firearms is most prevalent in big cities with the strictest gun laws. In Chicago and Washington, D.C., for example, it is only the criminals who have guns, the law-abiding populace having been disarmed, and so crime runs riot.
Cities of similar size in Texas, Florida, Arizona, and elsewhere, which leave the citizen the right to keep and bear arms, guaranteed in the Constitution, typically are much safer. More legal guns equal less crime. What criminal would be foolish enough to rob a gun store? But the government alleges that the citizen does not need this or that gun, number of guns, or amount of ammunition.
Mamet then compares the logic of gun control advocates to tales from his grandmother’s native country:
My grandmother came from Russian Poland, near the Polish city of Chelm. Chelm was celebrated, by the Ashkenazi Jews, as the place where the fools dwelt. And my grandmother loved to tell the traditional stories of Chelm.
Its residents, for example, once decided that there was no point in having the sun shine during the day, when it was light out—it would be better should it shine at night, when it was dark. Similarly, we modern Solons delight in passing gun laws that, in their entirety, amount to “making crime illegal.”
What possible purpose in declaring schools “gun-free zones”? Who bringing a gun, with evil intent, into a school would be deterred by the sign?
After discussing the benefits of having armed guards in schools, Mamet brings the article full circle:
The police do not exist to protect the individual. They exist to cordon off the crime scene and attempt to apprehend the criminal. We individuals are guaranteed by the Constitution the right to self-defense. This right is not the Government’s to “award” us. They have never been granted it.
The so-called assault weapons ban is a hoax. It is a political appeal to the ignorant…
Will increased cosmetic measures make anyone safer? They, like all efforts at disarmament, will put the citizenry more at risk. Disarmament rests on the assumption that all people are good, and, basically, want the same things.
But if all people were basically good, why would we, increasingly, pass more and more elaborate laws?
The individual is not only best qualified to provide his own personal defense, he is the only one qualified to do so: and his right to do so is guaranteed by the Constitution.
President Obama seems to understand the Constitution as a “set of suggestions.” I cannot endorse his performance in office, but he wins my respect for taking those steps he deems necessary to ensure the safety of his family. Why would he want to prohibit me from doing the same?

That reads like a liberal wrote it. Setting the record straight means … the record then is straight. It is NO LONGER how someone sees it. More evidence that TheBlaze has been infiltrated and is burning up from within.

Posted on January 27, 2013 at 1:22amWell, since accusing people of “straw man” arguments is so popular here, I’ll have to accuse this guy of the same for his remarks about Karl Marx. Even China is becoming a capitalistic country as is Russia. Despite what all your friends on AM radio would have you believe no country on earth is trying to become “Marxist.”
I know the idea is to accuse President Obama of being a Marxist, someone in favor of the Federal Government managing the dry cleaner or the McDonald’s or the convenience store near your house and the grocery store and the Home Depot in your area.
Now that’s so obviously false it makes me think this guy is as brain dead before his conversion as before. Perhaps you haven’t noticed but, while your wages – I’m talking about you – are stagnant, Wall Street and the Banks and Big Oil are making record profits. In fact, the US has the greatest disparity between the wealth of the rich and the poor in the world, a disparity that’s grown for the last twenty or thirty years. Hardly Marxism.
You’ve been brainwashed into thinking that the Walmart family, which now owns 40% of the wealth of America were to own 50% of America’s wealth, or 60%, you’d be better off. And that anything else is Marxism.
Well good for you. You’re a patriot. Maybe, if you’re lucky, your kid can get a job at Walmart. I hear the pay is pretty good.

Posted on January 27, 2013 at 2:07amDear Meteor,
I don’t know what they taught you in school about practical Marxism, but in practice the greatest disparity between the haves and the have nots occurs in Communism. Their perfect little world is a THEORY that only works on paper.
For instance my cousins (common laborers) during the 80′s lived in a one room home, they shared the kitchen, the bathroom and a “Common” room with two other families. They could not get meat for dinner and what little was available was only obtainable on the black market.
Blue jeans, tobacco and liquor were about the only way you could obtain these things, problem was, they couldn’t get the things needed to trade because a pair of blue jeans would cost them a year’s wage. On the other hand, those RunningThe Party, those with political clout, they could get just about anything they wanted and as much of it as they wanted. Just ask the starving people of North Korea about Mau Se Tung’s little fetishes.
But keep eating the crap sandwich they feed you. Eventually you will end up with dysentary.

Posted on January 27, 2013 at 2:18amChina adapts capitalist policies in international trade but rejects it domestically. China hasn’t earned wealth because it has afforded its people private rights or allowed businesses or individuals to pursue their interests in a free market, but because it has sought trade with capitalist nations. If china resembles an economic power today, it is thanks to the UK/US and other western nations, not because of its internal communist policies. Chinese citizens are not prospering, but are being used to enrich the state. Obama, like Marx, advocates rivalry between the social classes, and promotes hostility toward certain individuals who through their private rights independently prosper. Marx, like Obama, did not believe in personal liberties or blessings, but believed everything came from, and is for, a collective effort, wherefore, the state is said to be inherently all powerful. That’s not freedom, but forced subjugation. Most businesses and industries today are strictly regulated by the Government. Liberals, like good commies, use the Law to restrict and limit free individuals, not to restrain and restrict Governmental power. The reason Banks and Big Oil are making record profits is not because they have absolute freedom, but because Big Government is in bed with them. Why can’t private US citizens and businesses drill here? Why does Congress allow a private central bank to dictate and run our money supply? Cuz’ of a Big Commie Govment Agenda!

China has become fascist. They used AMERICAN companies that built up their infrastructure and factories to now make stuff for themselves. We can thank greedy globalists for exporting jobs to China all under the propaganda “we live in a global economy now.” We built up our enemy economically and now we have to worry about how strong they are-China is America’s Frankenstein.
Amerika has become fascist too. We are an imperial power trying to spread our influence into the Middle East. Influence such as gay rights, women’s rights, and liberalism. This is the real reason why we are meeting so much resistance over there. They don’t want our liberalism imported into their area. Anyway, Amerika has partnered with all kinds of defense contractors to keep our never ending war going. That is fascism. The difference between communism is the state owns the companies and fascism is they partner with corporations to help their cause. However, Amerika is almost bankrupt due to this 10 year Politically Correct war. That is Bush’s fault for setting up this endless war. Obuma is keeping it going. The puppet masters (‘chosen people”) told Obuma that he’s not going to change anything. Remember how Obuma was going to close Gitmo and end the war? The real puppet masters told him “no you’re not” and that was the end of it. Amerika is a leftist, PC imperialist, fascist nation. A new hybrid on old ideas.

I’d like to share a revelation that I’ve had during my time here. It came to me when I tried to classify you Liberal/Progressive Marxists and I realized that you’re not actually human.
Every human on this planet instinctively develops a natural equilibrium of individual freedom with other humans and the government we create, but you Lib/Prog Marxists do not. You move to an area and you multiply and multiply, infecting everything with propaganda, lies, and deceit until every national resource and ounce of individual freedom is consumed, all the humans are dead or enslaved, and the only way you can survive is to spread to another area.
There is another organism on this planet that follows the same pattern. Do you know what it is?
A virus.
Lib/Prog Marxists are a disease, a cancer of this planet.
You’re a plague…and We the People with our guns are the cure.

Posted on January 27, 2013 at 6:21amIt does not matter what a government calls itself or the ideology behind it – the size and power of the government and the control exercised is what is of concern. Our problem is that our federal government has grown exponentially in size and power, and both parties want more of the same (Democrats quickly, Republicans more slowly). The only way they can achieve more power is to take it from the states and, inevitably, from the individual.
Big Business and Big Government have conspired to take advantage of the American tax payer. When one chastises Big Oil, Wall Street and others, remember that all ours woes happened with the involvement and blessing of Big Government…and the politicians profited by it all.
As far as the disparity between rich and poor, these are relative terms…’poor’ in this country would be considered ‘wealthy’ in most parts of the world. Capitalism, as we used to know it, built enormous wealth in this country and raised the standard of living for all. Our limited government and individual freedom allowed for unprecedented creativity and growth, and for individuals to rise (and fall) through the economic ranks. Government regulation and taxation have crippled the individual’s ability to ‘make it’ in this country.

BALONEY.
NEWSFLASH: all systems are “capitalist” (i.e. for profit). Think about it, “MEATBETWEENTHEEARS”. The real question is, who owns the capital (the means of production)?
Free-enterprise capitalist system: The citizens (individuals and conglomerates) own the capital.
Socialism–>Communism: it’s under the guise of “collective” ownership (makes for a nice sales pitch), but the STATE (politicians and bureaucrats) own, monitor, and centrally plan all activities. AKA a “lead balloon”…completely inefficient as it inverts natural human behavior.
Fascism: you “own” (at least on paper) and are responsible for the capital and its maintenance, but the state tells you exactly what to do with it. How nice for them.

The only difference is that we have people of every class here, while most countries just have Wealthy, Poor, & Poorer. Our middle class is the most diversely defined…. though maybe not for long.

After the bloody class war/revolution, human beings would be more than capable of governing themselves. He would be the first to see that his ideology didn’t work out as planned.
Governing revolutionaries gain so much power and wealth off of the class war– it is certainly not in their interest to share their privileges. (Take gun protection, for example.)
Just the same old feudal system. Only the names have changed. Instead of nobles living off the labor of the serfs, we have the non-producing government elites living off the labor of the taxpayers.

They spout on and on, throwing an occasional fact or statistic here and there. These “facts” usually has nothing to do with the issue at hand, and almost never support their nebulous arguments.
One of the beautiful things about the people here is they have practical, real solutions to problems. Some of them could be implemented the very next day, and some are pretty far out, but it is undeniable that they are WELL thought out, and passionately believed in.
I guess the point is that people here are creators and innovators, even if they are just ideas. They love making things, tinkering with things. The Lib/Progressives that come here make nothing. Perhaps they are the vanguard of the “looters” that Ayn Rand spoke of?
More and more I am beginning to understand that we are not facing a conflict between Conservatives and Liberals, but a true war of competing civilizations. A war between free people, and willing slaves.
And it will be a war to the knife.

WHY? You might ask, well, when you go for a background check, you not only get your criminal record checked from your State Bureau of Investigation, and Federal Bureau of Investigation, and local court on record, NOW you will have the “Committee” look into your electronic medical records. So, you will now have a long wait, just to be denied your 2nd Amendment right by the “Committee,” who, by the way, have NO medical training whatsoever!
The “Committee” will only be looking for red flag words, like condition such as ”depression or angry,” or drug names like “Prozac, Adderall, Focalin, or Ritalin.” Having trouble sleeping? Careful what you use to get some Zzzz’s. These pills can also be used against you. Get the picture yet?

“They” will invent ways to make a person “FIT” into a category that will suit “their” needs. When you wonder how or why, it’s too late, you are no longer a ‘citizen’, you are a ‘subject’ enslaved by your own foolishness! Subjected to laws that are UNCONSTITUTIONAL.

After all, that is what ‘they’ want, and it is about time ‘they’ put their ‘money where their mouth is’, and live it the way ‘they’ want the rest of us to live it. These political idiots are on record saying, “It is suppressing the right to vote, for a person to prove who they are before voting, with a picture ID.” What do they call it when a person has to fill out a two (2) page Form 4473, show a picture ID, and answer all the questions on that form “correctly” OR that person is DENIED their RIGHT to the 2nd Amendment and cannot bear arms. In March 2004, the Illinois Senate passed Senate Bill 2165, a law introduced in response to DeMar’s case, with provisions designed to assert a right of citizens to protect themselves against home invasions, such that self-defense requirements would be viewed to take precedence over local ordinances against handgun possession. The measure passed the Illinois Senate by a vote of 38-20. Barack Obama was one of the 20 state senators voting against the measure.
Governor Rod Blagojevich vetoed the bill. On Nov. 9, 2004, the Illinois Senate voted 40-18 to override Blagojevich’s veto. Again, Obama acted against the bill.
On Nov. 17, the Illinois House voted overwhelmingly, 85-30, to override the governor’s veto and Senate Bill 2165 became law.

“Perhaps you haven’t noticed but, while your wages – I’m talking about you – are stagnant, Wall Street and the Banks and Big Oil are making record profits. In fact, the US has the greatest disparity between the wealth of the rich and the poor in the world, a disparity that’s grown for the last twenty or thirty years. Hardly Marxism. ‘
You’re right about Wall Street and corruption there. The LIBOR scandal is a good example of how the elites can control society by manipulating the interest rates.
However, the country has been in the throes of devolvment into one or another political concepts for years, mostly societally, but many aspects of it involve altering the economy and the government’s relationship with private enterprise, which would be closer to fascism than Marxism, but both fascism and Marxism require government control to work, and, at present, this society involves a bit of both political concepts.
But it is the push for societal change that bring into play economic concepts that surely do involve…or border on…. Marxism.
And in the process of changing society, radical leftist dregs have no qualms about invoking totalitarian mandates if it furthers their pie-in-the-sky fantasies. Or Marxist principles…like those of Cultural Marxism where economic Marxism as been converted to Cultural Marxism to change the culture, which is the basis for much of the left’s agenda, including Alinsky.
Orwellianism is also used.

Posted on January 27, 2013 at 12:46pmMeteor, I guess all those college professors today aren’t “Marxists” at all. Oh, by the way, when has Wal-Mart forced or coerced somebody into buying something? I didn’t know they had actual power like that, where there transactions are no longer voluntary. Fact is, they are filling a demand, if it were not so, they wouldn’t be in business. As for oil company profits, who are you to decide what they should be allowed to charge or keep for themselves. And for that matter, these wealthy CEO’s that you despise of the oil companies, don’t wake up everyday with a decision to be either “greedy” or go about their day with a “moral responsibility” (where they set prices based upon what YOU feel they should) to society. Of course, your idea of an oil company being morally responsible is for them to loose money and hopefully go out of businees. That way the gubmint can take over and than charge people each different prices based upon their abilities. That would be fair in your eyes, trust me I know your type. Maybe you should check why the price of oil/gas is so high, it’s the FED’s inflation of the monetary supply which creates artificial demand on many things while the supply of these things has not been matched at the same time–hence our economy runs on oil/gas so it is affected most. It’s a good thing that the banks have not been putting all these fiat dollars into the market, because nine times the $$$ means $28 to $30 per gallon of gas right now.

That’s an economic fact. It”s good that Obama and Bernanke sort of woke up and said yeah you’re right to the bankers, maybe it’s better if you just hold it in your vaults. I mean, shoot, real wages aren’t even keeping up with the amount of monetary inflation with gas at $3.50 too.
I remeber my high school econ teacher, a real dupe, who had all these kids believing that inflation was the gradual rise of prices by all these big businesses out there who were just perpetually greedy. Something made me question this idiot though, I thought to myself, why, when prices rise the most the fastest is during a recession; thus, I thought, why would any sane businessman want to raise their prices especially at a time when people are losing jobs and have less money and etcetera? Why raise their price and then sell less or even none of their product or service? That would be cutting your own throat, wouldn’t it?
Also, prices for oil are set by supply and demand, not what the oil business believes they can pull out of our pockets. If you had a business and the product you sold just fell out of heaven meaning 100% profit on your part, you could still break even if their was NO DEMAND, FAC

It just goes to show, once again, that God is great and can be found in even the most unlikely of places. He does indeed work in mysterious ways and shines his sun upon good and evil alike. When this life of endless choices is over, it will be an entirely different kind of story. Judas played a key role is saving mankind. But I would not want his reward nonetheless…
God has given us a stone upon which to sharpen our swords- one of many. The enemy thinks that they are soooo crafty and clever. But all of their Byzantine plots will, in the end, slay them (as well as many of us) because they go against the true order of life. The only question is; will we defeat them sooner or will we wait and have to go through millions or billions of dead first? What has always been the role of America? It is up to us. We will fight the good fight and God will decide. I am completely at peace with that because, in the end, there can be only ONE result.

We hate living daily with freedom anxiety

chipping & chiseling away at the very essence of our being.
They want us to roll over, they want us to look the other way,
they want us to run along & be silent.
Hell NO !
Mamet lays it out on the line…clear, concise, conscious-
what the hell is going on here,
what’s it going to take to wrestle the very freedom
our country fought & died for
from devils eager to demolish ?
Mamet’s lucid piece sums it ALL up…with NO room for argument !
This tyrant-in-chief has continuously thrown darts at every issue
to keep from working on the crucial one-
the country’s economy .
It makes him “look” busy, it makes him “look” concerned-
somebody needs to tell him to quit squandering our freedom
and get back to the matter at hand.
Mamet’s article does just that-
everyone should email, mail, phone & recite his very words

Axel, you’re wrong. There are no “communist” countries. Communism doesn’t work and never has, although that might require some explanation. No intelligent person believes in communism anymore, except maybe some college dropout weirdos (people sought out by this website to try pretend progressives actually believe that nonsense).
China is no more “communist” than the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (North Korea) is a democracy.
Possibly “communism” worked 15,000 years ago when humans lived in small tribes of 15 – 20 people where sharing resources “each according to their own” was paramount to the survival of the tribe. Maybe.
China and Russia are either dictatorships or oligarchies and there ain’t no “wealth sharing” going on in either country. We all call them “communist” countries, but neither their governments, nor their economic systems are “communist.” Maybe a small group group of people, like a family, can be “communist” in the sense that they each do what they can and all share in the wealth of the unit. But no rational person thinks “communism” is a possible economic system for a country.
As the popular term is now, this idea that Democrats are “communists” is a straw man.

“Axel, you’re wrong. There are no “communist” countries. ”
So Meatballs acknowledges Marxism is kaput at least for arguments sake. Is Marxism really kaput. Not from what I remember in college. I also see the Shining Path guerillas are alive & well in Peru. True they are no longer the threat to the people of Peru they were 20 years ago, but they still are leftists in good standing. It is kind of hard to maintain a straightface when you maximum leader is is caught in the capital city on a noise complaint as a result of his disco party.
People on campuses still espouse communism. But Meatballs is probably right. Most leftists now espouse some form of socialism. After all if one form fails they can always say there are so many varieties & we just have tried the right one.
Socialism is like the anthropomorphic global warming (AGW). The left is hoping to push thru changes before the socialist countries implode. I have been to Europe several times. It is not a pretty sight. From news reports & what I know from my relatives, socialism is not working. In fact it is in a state of terminal decline.
Socialism will be finished in a generation. By that time Meatballs will be in a nursing home conveniently sick with alzheimers. So you will get no acknowledgement for Meatballs. At that tine what would be the point?

Posted on January 28, 2013 at 7:46amI think if more gun owners could make a sane and civilized case for the second amendment then none of this would be a problem, but because there’s so much lunacy going on with websites like The Blaze, Free Republic, Prison Planet and it’s now branched over to other sites as well… There are, many times a celebration of the death culture at these websites. Do you think it helps your case for the second amendment when people see comments about how, instead of shooting the intruder four times, the person should have shot him nine times?
Cavalierness about guns is what causes fear of guns, people are always surprised when I tell them I own handguns, because I don’t flaunt it about. Not because I’m ashamed of it, I just see it as being like anything else I own – a computer, a phone, etc. It’s a tool, that must be responsibly maintained and used like any other tool. And, when the time comes it’s fun to share it with other people – RESPONSIBLY.
That is the main word here, very important. When gun owners are irresponsible, which it seems like more than their fair share have been these days, it makes us ALL look bad, despite what any of our other political opinions may be. Don’t want someone coming for our guns? Stop acting like children and give your senators and representatives real phone calls and talk to your friends and neighbors, not like a crazy person.

You presume a lot. You sneer about how if we let WalMart make “60% of the wealth in the nation where now it makes 50% of the wealth in the nation” (a statistic I’d like to see you back up with non-politically affiliated sources please) that means that this is somehow wrong. You don’t say “wrong”, but you explicitly imply that if we oppose 60% that we’re doing so out of some kind of misguided ideological reaction to Marxism. But let me ask you, under what system do YOU get to determine how much of one’s own labor an individual gets to keep? It certainly isn’t laissez faire capitalism, bud. Marxism? Not necessarily, but clearly one of the tired old players from the Progressives e.g. – socialism, fascism, mercantilism.
The whole point of a laissez faire capitalist society is that it dis-empowers people like you, I’m talking about you, from getting to decide the parameters that others are forced to live under economically.

Posted on January 28, 2013 at 9:46amHey Ghost. How about a tax structure similar to what we had under Clinton (or even Reagan), when the economy was booming the middle class thrived and the rich were doing just fine thank you very much.
Somehow, according to those here, that was communism. If Reagan were to come back to life, propose having taxes as high as when he was in office, he’d be called a communist or Marxist. If we were to tax people at the same progressive rate as under Clinton, that would be communism. The entire idea seems to be America was communist before the temporary Bush tax cuts, and after the tax cuts, we are now a capitalistic country. Let the temporary Bush tax cuts expire, and we’re back to being communists. Sure, whatever.
We don’t want laissez-faire capitalism in this country. That’s why we have anti-trust laws. I know you might it’s great to have a few huge monopolies that control all the means of production in the country (a Plutocracy), but wiser people know better. It’s great for the people who own those businesses, but bad for everyone else.
Would you like to pay to drive down the street in front of your house because some rich guy owns the street and can charge you to use it? Or maybe you actually do like the idea of some communally owned property (communism!), you just have never thought about it very carefully.

Clinton got a (very) free ride due to the groundwork that Reagan put into place which resulted in part with the dot com boom. Even our Marxist ‘Dear Leader’ would seem Capitalistic if he had a new technology boom to surf on like Bubba did. Clinton merely got out of the way and let the private sector work its magic. It’s a strategy that Dear Leader could learn very much from. But no. He’s doing the EXACT opposite, trying to regulate and tax the country into catatonia which is why we are currently in the lowest and slowest recession recovery in history.
Let’s be clear. It is Capitalism which creates success and freedom which is exactly why you Progressives (Regressivees) oppose it, albeit sneakily and sideways. Reagan cut costs drastically and raised taxes some. It’s called a ‘balanced’ approach. For the current crew and our present Liar in Chief ‘balanced’ means ‘raise taxes to infinity and seek to destroy the economy at the same time through absurd regulation’. You Prog morons aren’t fooling anyone with half a brain. You and your philosophy are a disaster for the country and the sooner you implode and crap your pants, the better for ALL concerned.

We remember the Clinton era fondly not for anything he did that was important. He didn’t really do anything except entertain and disgust us with sexcapades. Well, except for welfare reform which he was dragged into and which Dear Leader is now frantically dismantling. No, we only remember his era with nostalgia because of the boom times his administration coincided with. Capitalism is king. Even you Prog troglodytes need it. You just avert your eyes and pretend that your high minded B.S. is what makes life not suck. But you are only a drag on the system. A virus in the host. It’s Capitalism which makes everything good happen. That’s the truth you cannot escape. It’s what America was founded on and what, at her core, she is all about.
All systems whether stupid or sublime have to have it as their basis or they collapse immediately. So it’s better to face it head on, embrace it and not to lie about it, than to be a slimy worm and eat at it from around the edges until everything you touch becomes putrid and spoiled. We must be Libertarian in our regulation and learn to live with a certain level of uncertainty and fluctuation. We can only do this with faith in the one true God. For only with God at our core do we have the intestinal fortitude to patiently endure the lows and then prosper in the highs of the only viable system on earth, namely; Capitalism. We must understand that life cannot be a padded cell where everything is perfect and painless. If we succeed in creating such a perfect world, it will kill us. If you Progressives succeed in fashioning a world where the state is dominant and seeks to regulate the minutia of our lives and all pain and suffering out of existence, it will destroy us as surely as the sun shines down.

Posted on January 28, 2013 at 11:52amHey GHOST, SENDTHEMETEORS is one who is, should I say, able to comprehend the laws of economics; or maybe she does understand them but purposely believes as do all Marxists that people cannot left to make their own decisions through voluntary exchange, the state must come between two individuals/entities “for our own good” of course.
If she was smart on economics, she would understand that corporations operate at the margin, and in a free market competition is always squeezing the profit margin. THERE ARE NO SUCH THINGS AS MONOPOLIES IN LAISSEZ-FAIRE MARKETS, it’s impossible. I don’t understand why sendthemeteors would believe that if you are a corporation in a market who is meeting the demand (even if said corporation “shares” [not owns] possibly even 75% of that market) of your consumers that you are a monopoly, in her eyes. The fact is a monopoly needs friendly government legislation to maintain a foothold on mass market share. LAISSEZ-FAIRE means “to leave it alone”–for all you who don’t know, this means that the gov’t is stay out of the way of business, no micro-managing the market and picking winners who are “too big to fail.” That’s cronie capitalism and is the dire opposite of laissez-faire capitalism. Shoot, even within our quasi-free market, they sure tried to make Microsoft out to a monopoly, but ultimately failed after they couldn’t prove how they were coercing consumers to buy their products, fact is, they had superior products over their competi

We goyim don’t abandon our public testimony of our God and Jesus Christ to make life easier for ourselves. Anyone who thinks the US has the largest disparity between the ‘haves’ and the ‘have-nots’ is a fool. The only reason they feel comfortable in saying that is that the statistic exists. You’ll never get true facts from the communist countries, or dictatorships, for that matter, so it’s a little bit ‘impossible’ to make a true comparison.

Until those with a public voice or presence start connecting the dots for those of low information (i.e., the majority of those who came out of public education in the last 30 years), nothing will change. The logical debate will continue to be hijacked by emotions and off we go, running in a completely different direction than the topic with which we started!
I’ve long been accused of acting child-like because I always ask “Why?”. I was told that asking “why” is a form of criticism. No. The “why” is vital to fully understand a situation. Those who shrink from it have something to hide.

Posted on January 26, 2013 at 10:01pmI grew up in a very anti-gun household, and I drank the cool aide until my 20′s. The first time I went to a range I was hooked. Having been on both sides of this issue, I’m pretty sensitive to what works and what doesn’t when it comes to explaining the value of firearms to people who have never shot, and can’t imagine why someone would “need” a gun. I think honesty and knowledge are the most important factors in persuasion. Mamet does a good job on both counts with the exception of claiming that cities with the most gun restriction have the most crime. Because crime rate is determined by multiple factors (age of the population, weather, unemployment rate, etc) it is possible to statistically determine how much each factor “weighs” in determining the outcome. That type of analysis shows that gun laws have minimal impact on crime rate when compared to factors like poverty, unemployment, and education. It seems like a small point, but a lot of anti-gun people are aware of it, and there is no reason to make weak arguments when there are so many better ones.

As a firearms instructor I have seen this time and time again. Even with folks who were very reticent to try shooting. Nine times out of ten, when someone shows up at the range for the first time, they leave with a different perspective altogether. Many find themselves experiencing an epiphany. I am amazed at how many come back for advanced training and remark that they were very intimidated by guns prior to their first visit, yet are now enthusiastic about shooting and gun ownership. It all comes down to education. Unfortunately there are those who do not want to be enlightened for fear “compromising” long held beliefs. They just like the kool-aid way too much. I as one might guess, many of our first time shooters are folks who were victims of crime or close to someone who was. Frankly, we prefer to have them come to us prior to buying a firearm. That said, guns aren’t for everyone. Education often helps determine what they actually need, be that a firearm, dog or some other means of defense.

There are no significant genetic differences between the Chinese of the 50s, the Hutu’s of Rwanda, and indeed the National Socialists of Germany, and those in Washington today. Posted on January 26, 2013 at 9:59pmJERK : And how about Barak Obama and Nancy Pelosi and Joe Biden ? Jewish too ?! Please, warped brainwashed, young dude: get some education. Extremist Liberalism is not just a Jewish ” thing, ” it is more of a psychotic thing – just like extreme ” right” or extreme ” Islamic ” or extreme ANYTHING. These are all “extreme ” versions of any belief. Extremism is when one goes from ” I believe” to “I hate.” Very dangerous. Very dysfunctional. And, unfortunately, very Lefty Media / Radical Democrat in fashion.

Posted on January 26, 2013 at 9:01pmFubared, each is an individual, but there are group identities, traditions, and cultures. There is a black culture. There is a Jewish culture.
Jewish culture is commune-ism. It’s no accident that Moses Hess, Karl Marx, Saul Alinsky, Frances Fox Piven, Cass Sunstein, Andy Stern, Rahm Emanuel, David Axelrod, Ron Bloom, Don Berwick… are all Jewish.

Posted on January 27, 2013 at 12:54amThe first Jew I ever knew personally was a little Jewish lady named Mrs. Kosman. She despised all communists, whites , blacks, Jews, Arabs, Chinese, whatever. She was a Social Studies teacher, and had escaped from East Germany in the early sixties.. I can still see the fire in her eyes when we discussed socialism. She was the kind of person everyone loved. Unlike Feinstein, Schumer , and Bloomberg etc. They are the thieving kind that give Jews a bad name.

who is right who is wrong who is a hater who is a lover all depends on point of view
the important thing is a deversity in thinking
and every single one of us will agree that if evil wins everyone loses
I say say what you think as long as you can back up what you say with logic
Then let reasonable thinking people deside in thier minds what they believe

Posted on January 27, 2013 at 1:22amFubar: Check out the Jewish Almanac, as far back as 1903 the publication stated socialism has always been an ingredient of Jewish society. However, many Jews despise communists violently. Atheist Jews are the Bolsheviks. The Bolshevik Jews exterminated the religious Jews in Russia and helped HITLER. Ever hear of Soros. Every race has its’ garbage.

Agreed. Not my issue with our nazis calling all Jews, every day, all day, every post, the chosen people, media owned by Jews, Juden this, Juden that and lumping all jews into Marxism. Jihad jerk never, ever comments on anything but. SillySally cannot comment without using the chosen people or Juden, and MorsiEngineer69 utilizes a sick soft sell encompassing all Jews too. The filters at the blaze have no issue with the hate speach, but don’t cuss. F that, and F the nazis and their Muslim sympathizing. As you have Katz in your handle, how does it feel to be lumped in with the Juden and chosen people these nazis refer to daily? Ask the jihad jerk about women and anyone of color too. He wants to tattoo illegals to better recognize them and women are nannies, better off in the kitchen barefoot and pregnant. It gets old and is a distraction from often decent discourse.
