Obama Admin. Seeking $32 Million to Train African Troops in Mali

Malian soldiers lead journalists on Jan. 26, 2013 in the key central town of Konna, now controlled by French and Malian forces after being taken Jan. 11 by Islamist groups. French and Malian troops pushed north towards the key Islamist strongholds in northern Mali Saturday, as West African defense chiefs gathered in Ivory Coast to review plans to deploy a regional intervention force. SEVARE, Mali (AP) — The Obama administration is seeking an additional $32 million to train African troops to fight Islamic extremists in Mali.
State Department spokeswoman Victoria Nuland told reporters Friday the request had been made to Congress.
The United States is not providing any direct aid to the Malian government because the democratically elected president was overthrown in a coup last year.
However, it has been providing aid to the French-led mission, transporting French troops and equipment to Mali.
France has some 2,400 forces in the West African nation but says it wants African nations to take the lead in fighting the extremists who rule northern Mali.
The French-led operation began on Jan. 11 after the militants surged southward from their strongholds and took the town of Konna, later recaptured by government forces.

Posted on January 26, 2013 at 3:51pmThe Obama Administration should seek to execute US laws within US borders.
They should not be seeking to do ANYTHING that Congress hasn’t decided to do, by the Constitution.

Posted on January 26, 2013 at 1:45pmObaMao’s foreign aid to Mali’s government to fight al-Qaeda linked Maghreb, but with Libya, and Syria it’s the opposite. Why are we involved with Mali that’s 90% Muslim, which caused Islamists to attack a BP NG plant in Algeria; which is 99.7% Muslim. France first launched jets fron Chad without Chad government pemission, Chad was opposed to the U.N. Libyan actions against Quddafi. Then Algeria granted its airspace to France. Less than 36 hours later the LG plant was attacked. Obama told us that al-Qaeda was just about finished. While he plays both sides of the fence with regards to which sides to take in a given situation. Hollande, and Merkel said, “Islamist in Mali are a threat to Europe”. U.N. repot: By 2040 Europe’s Muslim population will be 55%. All this while christains in Sudan, Egypt, Nigeria, Syria, and Iraq continue to be persecuted, and killed without any help from the U.N, France, or the United States.

How about sending that $32 million to revamp our mental health system so we can prevent more nutcases from shooting up schools?
Oh wait. We don’t have the money for that either.
Imagine how many Obamaphones $32 million can buy! Somehow we do seem to have the money for that.

Posted on January 26, 2013 at 1:29pmYea more war !..I was getting concerned we were gonna run out, Libya was easy, Syria not really going anywhere, Iran is in domestic shambles, Latin America has no good war worth starting..BUT Africa..now there is a great place to start some s**t…I bet that’s why Barry sent “advisers” to 35 African nations. I bet we have “interests “…and enemies…and Muslims..and terrorists than need killing…I like when Progressives kill, just levels the moral playing field…

Posted on January 26, 2013 at 1:17pmRight. And meanwhile, 15000 E-6′s in the UNITED STATES ARMY are being forced out or need to requalify in a different MOS. Of course UNITED STATES ARMY officers will be reduced as well, probably ….as usual……the reserve combat arms officers (0-3 and 0-4). One could not write a scenario where one man could destroy a country so effectively. Obama hates hates HATES America and is obviously destroying the military in his last ditch effort to take total control.

Posted on January 26, 2013 at 1:17pmThey should spend that money on protecting our schools. Like training armed security guards. This Government is beyond out of control.. I am not surprised one bit. Wasting our money where is should not be spent. They don’t want me to own a semi-automatic rifle. Meanwhile they are sending 20 F-16 fighter jets and 200 M1 Abrams tanks to the radical Jihads!!! Unreal.

Posted on January 26, 2013 at 12:52pmNo…..No……No!!!! Billions and Billions of dollars have been wasted on the “African” countries in aid and relief over the past 50 years, yet nothing has changed. The “CARE” organization worked valiantly to teach African countries new farming and building techniques but few lessons actually sunk in. Africa is ruled by tribal laws and religious rules and the fires are fueled by completely self-induced ignorance. Nothing….. Nothing will ever change. Ridiculous tribal and religious fighting has gone on for hundreds, if not thousands of years. The fighting will never stop, just as the fighting between muslims and Jews will never stop. This money, just like in the past will just end up being flushed down the drain of human waste. I wish that it would be different….but, fat chance. Change can only start within.
