Watch How These Passengers React After Lightning Sets Their Plane’s Engine on Fire

Even seasoned travelers might blanch at the prospect of a night flight with extreme turbulence after lightning has set the plane’s engine on fire.

But that’s exactly what happened on a Jan. 24 Turkish Airlines flight from Izmir to Istanbul, and one traveler got the entire scene on video.

There were 114 people aboard, the Telegraph writes, when “passengers began to panic…but the pilot quickly activated the motor’s own fire-extinguishing gear, declared an emergency and landed safely.”

Video shows sparks flying from the plane’s engine for roughly 10 seconds before shakily scanning the plane’s impressively calm passengers.

Watch what happens when the lights go out for the final descent, below:

And here’s how the plane’s landing looked from the ground, via YNet News:

At first they thought it was the “red-neck” part of the “featured” barbaque menu.

The videos are half over by the time I find the volume control, turn it down and then rid the screen of advertisements hiding the picture.

Silent – I believe you are the only person on the Blaze that is not using DNT – Do Not Track. Yep, your right – you have 22 sites tracking you right now – the rest of us that is using DNC – Do Not Track have zero tracking or spamming us – These adds are all blocked – they don’t even open.

      Instructions:
Use “Fire Fox” as your Browser – NEVER use Internet Explorer – are you nuts
Then add the Plug In “DNT – Do Not Track”

Do that and around 22 other sites will be blocked form tracking your viewing habits on just the Blaze alone.

The Blaze has more sites tracking it than any site I have ever visited – I wonder if they know or even care.

Stop being “uninformed” on internet surfing – use Firefox.

Overheard from passenger on cellphone –

“Hello? Muhammed? Yeah, it’s me. Look, break out the camera and look up into the sky – see the plane on fire? Yeah – yeah! That’s us! Yeah! Break out the video and get a picture of this, I want the whole family to see how I found my 72 Virgins!”

Now, if it were HOLLYWIERD shooting that film…

(My apologies to anyone suffering from Hoplophbia, that might have been horrified to the point of soiling themselves, upon reading my “S” word…)

Well it’s confirmed. The second video clearly shows that nobody is capable of getting decent video.

They are so used to suicide bombs that they think there are infidels onboard. That is why they can stay so calm.

“Twilight Zone” Nightmare at 20,000 Feet (1963)
William Shattner plays a panic stricken man on an airplane. The plot has the Shattner character as a man that’s just recently gotten out of rehab, because he had suffered a mental and nervous breakdown, and getting on a plane will almost certain test his limits. In fact his last breakdown was due to a flight. And boy does his imagination take a turn for the worst when he sees outside on the wing of the plane a furry like creature! This creature stares him in the face! The creature is a gremlin trying to take the plane apart. The gremlin disappears whenever anyone else looks out the window. The big question is it really real, or just a test of imagination, because he’s the only one to see it; and nobody is willing to take his word for it.

      Hilarious!

I like Shatner, but I rather liked the version with John Lithgow better. (personal preference is all)
