‘Bqhatevwr’: What Does It Mean and Which Former Politician Tweeted It?

Former Senator Scott Brown Tweets Bquhatevwr, Becomes Minor Internet Sensation

Everyone’s had their share of meltdown moments on Twitter, from your average user to people to official accounts whose tweets carry more weight. Usually, those meltdown moments are scrubbed before someone else can notice them.

Sadly for former Massachusetts Sen. Scott Brown, that’s not always true. The senator apparently had to deal with some unwanted interlocutors after watching his daughter in concert and decided to give them a piece of his mind. The results, posted shortly after midnight Saturday, left something to be desired:

Brown hasn’t commented on the tweets, but scrubbed them after a few hours — much to the consternation of several media-focused blogs. Gawker voiced their disappointment this way:

Scott Brown may not be a senator any longer, but maybe we can elect him the Vice President of Drunk Tweeting.

Mediaite, meanwhile, offered some impromptu political advice for how “Bqhatevwr” might actually have been a political asset in disguise:

…Brown deleted all of the tweets. (See? Nothing there now.) And I have to confess my great disappointment that he did this. He doesn’t appear to have claimed he got hacked, which is a plus, but… come on. He was destined to be the Bqhatevwr guy as soon as he sent that tweet, whether he got rid of it or not. And if he does run for office again… just think of the political benefits that could have been had from embracing Bqhatevwr instead of running from it.

[H]ad Brown embraced being the Bqhatevwr guy, everyone – even people who don’t see eye-to-eye with Brown politically, and especially young people, with whom Brown’s party has some well-known problems – would have eaten it up. Even if he’s lost – honestly, even if he’d never run at all – the Brown brand would have been enhanced by Bqhatevwr. He had two choices: one was to not take himself seriously, and try to use the tweets and typo to his advantage. Some might have called him a loose cannon, sure. Everyone else would have loved it, and he could have leveraged that to reach greater political heights.

The only obstacle to the would-be trend, of course, is that the word lacks an obvious way to pronounce it, given that it has a grand total of two vowels.

I sure would hate for some of my texts to be made newsworthy, if you have an android and use swype and aren’t paying attention, you can send out some weird words. He was sending “whatever”. I guess every time our POTUS or VPOTUS misspeak, the bloggers will now say they were drunk (or maybe high). There will be at least one story every day now.

Seems to me that we have some blogs or reporters guilty of drunk reporting or blogging if they jump to that conclusion.

why do I feel just a little bit dumber for electing to read this article? I’m sure I could have spent my time more productively, maybe by trying to count the number of hairs on my head.

Are our lives really so empty and shallow to resort to this type of ‘journalism?’ Excuse me while I go wash out my brain with soap.

  I agree with you, what was the purpose to this story and furthermore what is all this BS about “embracing” the typed word… Really?
  
  I turned off mine and my wife’s cell phones a few months after my mom died in 2007. We had them to keep in touch with her, when the new year rolled around we had 15k rollover minutes, we decide we just didn’t use them enough to keep paying for them. All this cell phone use, twitter and facebook is highly annoying and breaking down important lessons and situations to a less than 50 character mish mash of meaningless words.
  
  A majority in this country will have a collective heart attack when this technology is useless due to high electricity rates or the lack thereof. In the mean time, if someone needs to get a hold of me or my wife, leave a message on our home phone and we might get back to you.
  
  Imagine how much information can be gathered through the use of your cell phone. Ditch the electronic leash and go talk to someone face to face.

I relly think the best way to pronounce it is, “Bqhatevwr”! However, I am sure that some people will pronounce it “Bqhatevwr”. For it really to catch on though, it is going to have to roll off the tongue like “Bqhatevwr”. So, “whatever”, I don’t think it is really that important.

Its quite obvious to any rational person he was trying to type “whatever” while not really paying attention. The fact that anyone would make any kind of deal out of this let alone write an article on it leads me to the conclusion that we are not only doomed as a nation, but as a species. Idiocracy is far out pacing normalcy.
