Chicago Woman Loses Her 4th Child to Gun Violence: ‘I Have Nobody Right Now’

CHICAGO (TheBlaze/AP) — At least five people were gunned down Saturday in Chicago, including a 34-year-old man whose mother had already lost her three other children to shootings. Tragic enough in its own regard, the man’s death marks a tragic pattern of loss for a woman who has seen child after child perish as a result of violence.

Ronnie Chambers, who was his mother Shirley’s youngest child, was shot in the head while sitting in a parked car on the city’s West Side. A 21-year-old man who was also in the car was wounded, police said.

Shirley Chambers, whose two other sons and daughter were shot in separate attacks more than a decade ago, was left grieving again on Saturday, WLS-TV reported.

“Right now, I’m totally lost because Ronnie was my only surviving son,” Chambers said.

Shirley Chambers’ first child, Carlos, was shot and killed by a high school classmate in 1995 after an argument. He was 18. Her daughter Latoya, then 15, and her other son Jerome were shot and killed within months of one another in 2000.

“What did I do wrong? I was there for them. We didn’t have everything we wanted but we had what we needed,” she asked Saturday.

Chambers said despite this latest tragic chapter in her life, she’s not bitter or angry.

“They took my only child. I have nobody right now. That’s my only baby,” she said.

A few hours after Ronnie Chambers was killed, a gunman opened fire on three men near a South Side eatery, killing two of them and wounding the third, police said.

On Saturday afternoon, detectives were called to the scene of another shooting in which a man in his 30s and a teenager were shot to death. There had been no arrests.

Chicago’s homicide count eclipsed 500 last year for the first time since 2008. As grim as it is, Chicago’s homicide rate was almost double in the early 1990s — averaging around 900 – before violent crime began dropping in cities across America.

Last year’s increase, though, stood in sharp contrast to New York, where homicides fell 21 percent from 2011, as of early December.

One has to feel somewhat sorry for the lady, but, where is the dad???? Every one of those kids look like a gang banger, and that they have killed also. I say that those with the mark of Cain, love their ritual hunts every night in Chicago. Is it a genetic thing with the blacks that they have to hunt and kill their own kind. I guess you can take the black kid out of the jungle, but you can’t take the jungle out of the black kid……hmmmmm obammy has the mark of Cain……

Three of the four in the picture appear to be wearing blue, I wonder if gang colors have anything to do with them being shot. After the second one died, I would have moved to Nebraska.

  But moving to Nebraska might have actually solved the problem. We can’t have solutions! How can I be a Victim if I solve my own problems? I find it interesting that this article (and the dozens of others online) all focus on the poor, poor mother. None of them actually focus on the actual person killed.

I am sorry, but reason dictates that with that much violence to one family, there is more to the story. Drugs, gangs? I don’t want to stereotype but there are key facts missing from the story…sitting in a parked car? 15 year old girl with baby? There is a such a thing as the wrong place at the wrong time, but with four people from the same family? What is the rest of the story?

Oh, no, this is impossible. Chicago is a gun free zone. No one in Chicago has a gun.

It does make you wonder though. What were her doing to get shot? I’m sure they were on their way to Bible Study class with their father. When you sleep with dogs you will wake with fleas.

That’s strange. When I was growing up, most of my friends had firearms, a good number of the people in our community had firearms but NO ONE was ever shot and killed. They must either sell a different type of guns in Chicago or maybe the guns aren’t to blame as much as the culture? You decide.

How I see it, if this woman has lost all her children she is involved in something she and her family should not have been. Gangsters only shoot the ones that crossed them. So lady clean up your act and move.

How can this be possible in America? Four honor students from the same family, all of them dedicated parents, all members of a civic organization and curiously all working in the pharmaceutical industry, it just seems impossible.

My heart truly goes out to this woman. It must be terrible when you try so hard to raise kids right, but the prevaling culture created by Jesse Jackson, Rahm Emmanuel and Rat Bastard Obama has the society collapsing. If Rahm. Jesse and Rat Bastard Obama have the answers to “gun violence” as they claim they do… Chicago should be the safest city on the planet! WTF??

What did sh do wrong? She stayed in a state that restricted her rights as an American and she stood by and did nothing to stop it.

She loved her children, im sure but she did nothing to protect them.

It’s not about guns honey it’s about the total failure of the black community to raise children who respect life, respect moral values, and Scripture. BET TV mirrors the community. Parent less homes, multi dads and moms, HIGH STD, high abortion, education a joke, stupid first names, 98percent of crime is black on black, drugs as a job, women who dress and acts like $luts ( take after mom)’, solving problems with violence, high high skool drop out rate = no job hope, no wonder we’re the laughingstock of the worlds.

They must have made a mistake. Chicago has banned guns no one could possibly have been shot with a firearm in Chicago. Maybe they should get a second opinion, the guy might still be alive.
