Scientists: Former Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon Shows Brain Activity When Exposed to Sons Voice, Family Pics

(TheBlaze/AP) — A team of Israeli and U.S. scientists say new tests on comatose former Prime Minister Ariel Sharon show significant brain activity.

Ben-Gurion University on Sunday said that Sharon responded to external stimuli at Soroka Hospital in Beersheba.

He was shown pictures of his family and listened to recordings of his son’s voice while undergoing a special brain imaging scan, they said. The university reported that “significant brain activity was observed … indicating appropriate processing of these stimulations.”

However, Sharon remains in a deep coma. It remains to be seen how scientists will utilize the information, or what it means for other coma victims.

Professor Martin Monti from the University of California, Los Angeles explained: “Information from the external world is being transferred to the appropriate parts of Mr. Sharon’s brain…However, the evidence does not as clearly indicate whether Mr Sharon is consciously perceiving this information.”

The 84-year-old former prime minister led Israel from 2001 until suffering a stroke in 2006. Since then, he has been in a vegetative state, connected to a respirator.

Sharon was a storied military officer who fought in three wars before entering politics. He unilaterally withdrew Israeli troops and settlers from Gaza in 2005.

  Maybe they should try showing Ariel ‘the Butcher’ Sharon some photos of the Palestinian men, women and children that he allowed to be mercilessly slain in the Sabra and Shatila camps years ago. I’m sure the hellfires are already being stoked for this monster of all monsters.

Woman in a coma for 6 months at least. Men’s quartet goes every week to sing a couple songs.
One day she wakes up and can tell them EVERY SONG THEY SANG to her once a week for the last 6 months.
No sheite, had it from they guys who were THERE.

  Careful what you ask for. When he passes away, I have a feeling that the world will take a very chaotic turn.
  A extremely respected Rabbi in Israel gave a prophecy that is quite interesting.
  A few months before Rabbi Kaduri died at the age of 108, he surprised his followers when he told them that he met the Messiah. Kaduri gave a message in his synagogue on Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement, teaching how to recognize the Messiah. He also mentioned that the Messiah would appear to Israel after Ariel Sharon’s death. (The former prime minister is still in a coma after suffering a massive stroke more than a year ago.)
  Other rabbis predict the same, including Rabbi Haim Cohen, kabbalist Nir Ben Artzi and the wife of Rabbi Haim Kneiveskzy.

  Jezreel, life, all life is a gift. Even with in harsh times, there is always something to be taken from the experience. Diversity can lead to strengths, the understanding of how to deal with the worlds evils. Life can be unfair, and can difficult to deal with, but to learn to do so, to take the best from it is one of the reasons we are here as children of God. Life is an education, and we are exposed some times to terrible experiences as that is the only way to learn about such and hopefully go forward dealing with and from such knowledge and experiences. If a child is given everything to it, it becomes spoiled and will never know how to deal with diversity. Those that are exposed and learn how to deal with life’s issues grow stronger. Most importantly, your ability to have the free will to choose which direction you want to take shows your true heart and character.
  Life will always throw things at you, you cannot affect the past, a temper tantrum or poor attitude does nothing to change the past. But your attitude does affect your future, a negative attitude can drag you down, a positive can give you the ability to take a more positive step in the right direction.
  Always value life, always strive to make the best of it. You may not be able to control the world around you, but you always have the power to control yourself and your affect this world.

  Sharon withdrew from Gaza in ’05 and had a stroke in effect killing him in ’06. Don’t kid yourself into thinking the two are unrelated.
