Ahmadinejad Marks Holocaust Memorial Day by Calling on Fellow Muslims to Band Together to Destroy Israel

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad on Sunday called on Muslim nations to mobilize their resources into a united front to destroy Zionism – that is Israel. By coincidence or not, Sunday also happened to be International Holocaust Remembrance Day.

Ahmadinejad delivered his remarks at an annual conference on Islamic “unity.” One goal to help achieve unity, according to the Iranian leader, is to put an end to Israel. Iran’s Press TV reports on the speech:

“Under circumstances that the corrupt, uncultured and murderous Zionists are occupying and killing oppressed people, we should not sit idly by,” President Ahmadinejad said in an address to the 26th International Islamic Unity Conference in Tehran on Sunday.

He added that Muslims should unite against the evil and bullying powers and noted that monotheism, justice and love for humans are among other objectives of unity among Muslim nations.

The Iranian chief executive censured the existence of dissension among Muslims and stated that an incomplete understanding of the Holy Quran and Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) is the reason behind such differences.

According to the Iranian news agency IRNA, Ahmadinejad said: “Today we need leadership similar to the Prophet to get the Muslim World united.”

He also took aim at the global economic system, which he alleges transfers the wealth to certain nations, enriching the rich, at the expense of other nations, presumably including Iran.

The conference was held in Tehran and included both Shiite and Sunni scholars from 120 countries, according to Press TV.

Also on Sunday, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu warned his cabinet ministers of the genocidal intentions of the Iranian regime. He said:

Anti-Semitism has not disappeared and – to our regret – neither has the desire to destroy a considerable part of the Jewish People and the State of Israel. They exist and they are strong. Holocaust-denial is being spread by one of the world’s major countries, not by a group or by individual countries or by marginal elements, but by Iran which, today, from the UN or any other platform, is the leader of Holocaust-denial while preparing for what they deem to be another Holocaust – the destruction of the state of the Jews.

And the threats go well beyond Ahmadinejad’s words. Netanyahu added: “They are not halting their relentless and systematic race to achieve a nuclear weapons capability in order to realize this intention.”
