Guy Behind Insane Johnny Manziel Trick Football Video Reveals How Many Takes It Took to Film This Unbelievable Shot

Last year, there seemed to be a rush of trick shot videos that swept the Internet. Many were good, a few were great. But after awhile, the trend died. But last week, the craze resurrected itself with an amazing video that even we missed. The trickster? None other than the latest Heisman Trophy Johnny Manziel.

Maybe you’ve seen the video, maybe you haven’t. If you haven’t, take five minutes to enjoy. You’ll see him “shooting” clay pigeons with a football, popping balloons off a goal post, and then the incredible feat of sinking a football into a basketball hoop from the top of a stadium:

Now watch the video that has over 1.5 million views on YouTube. After, we’ll reveal what the guy behind it says about how long it took and how many takes were involved:

Amazing, isn’t it? However, if you’re part of the crew that thinks maybe it’s a hoax, the man behind it went on Fox News Monday morning and said no way.

“Definitely no video editing involved,” Cory Cotton, one of the minds behind the “Dude Perfect” trick videos said. Instead, he said it took about seven hours to film everything and by the end, the crew had 32 minutes of “internet gold.”

So what about the climax of the video where Manziel throws a football from the very top of Texas A&M’s stadium and makes it into a basketball hoop on the field? According to Cotton, it only took five throws before Manziel “swished” it.

Is there something about that music that runs counter to what he said?
If anything;that style being adopted more broadly than for ghetto dregs isn’t a positive thing.

@Jetstream and all the other doubters/deniers: Yes, it IS Christian by a Christian band. Sometimes it takes this type of music to reach those for Him that normally wouldn’t or couldn’t be without such material like the teens and younger people in general. AND folks who like rap and Christian music, just combined. And Christians reaching people for Jesus is what it’s all about.
Not to mention these guys could have had some cop-killer type hiphop/rap instead but chose this first. Thumbs up to them!

Dude Perfect is not selling snake oil. They make no bones about the way they create videos and will tell interviewers how many shots it took on anything. They are Texas Aggies. The Texas A&M honor code is :

“We don’t lie, cheat or steal…nor tolerate those that do”

A&M is a different place from almost any other university. If you have not experienced Aggieland, your missing out on something special.

The guys that do these videos at A&M are legit.

However, this is typical aggie bluster:
“We don’t lie, cheat or steal…nor tolerate those that do”

For example, if that is true why wasn’t Manziel punished for being cited for carrying two false ID’s last summer?

AGGIEBREWER, If what you commented about we don’t lie, cheat or steal is true I’m super proud for ya. That is the mentality we ALL should have and follow. But you might want to be careful with flaunting this in the same sentence with Manziel. While certainly no gangster or criminal, he has shown the ability early in his college career to land himself in jail.

Thats like asking a politician if he’s guilty of fraud. No way he’ll incriminate himself. let someone else prove that he’s lying.

Apparently you haven’t thrown enough footballs. ;) Also, it appears the ball curves simply because of the distance involved and the angle of the camera – when in reality it’s a straight shot to the basket. I’ve seen plenty of guys pull off stunt like this. No trickery involved – just SKILL.

Guitarmaster, stick to the guitar. Get on top of a building and throw a couple of footballs. They will do some crazy things as they fall from wind currents and ball spin. Golf shots don’t hook or slice either do they??? Got to watch this stuff the first time at a Globetrotters game. It was pretty amazing.

It is well known that rotating baseballs, tennnis balls, footballs and even ping pong balls can, in fact, curve in flight. The physics and aerodynamics that cause that curvature are well known and are usually referred to as the Magnus effect. In some cases, it is known as the Robins effect. If you insist on just making stuff up and offering your opinion on subjects that you do not understand, you should consider going in to Climate Research..

BIKI1121 has it right. Everything moves around in the air;footballs, baseballs, javelins, frisbies, etc. About the only thing that may not ‘appear’ to drift is maybe a shotput. Along with the properties of wind, any ball with an outer texture will ceate it’s own wind/draft as it spins.

Because perhaps there’s other things to enjoy in life rather than spending 24 hours a day, 7 days a week obsessing over what the government has or has not done. We all know there’s significant problems out there, and Beck and crew take ample time to inform us of what is going on (although you shouldn’t just rely on them to do your homework for you), there’s nothing wrong with taking a light-hearted video to use for a good smile. Realize there’s good in the world too and RELAX.

I remember a scene in an old Jackie Chan movie where he tossed his hat over his head behind him, and when it landed it caught on the hook of a coat rack. He kept missing the shot because he wasn’t looking where he was throwing the hat. The whole thing took two seconds, but IIRC they had to film the scene over 600 times before they actually got it right.

And here’s another one that took over 600 takes: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yylNWKoifgk&list=FLMfqrKTl0qYh73vCsalNGlA
