Iran’s Alleged New Invention: Finger Amputation Machine (*Graphic Photo Warning*)

Morbid Iranian Invention: Finger Amputation Machine (Graphic Photo Warning)

An eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth, and in Iran, a handful of fingers for the charge of robbery and adultery. Now the Sharia-guided regime has rolled out a machine with which to mete out the gruesome punishment, according to one of the country’s official news outlets.

France 24 discovered the story, having stumbled across photos on Iran’s official press agency site ISNA that were allegedly taken at a public amputation last week. Resembling scenes from the Medieval period, the blindfolded sentenced man is held in place by three men in black hoods, one of whom guides the man’s fingers into the large metal contraption, which presumably includes a rotary saw-like function.

France 24 reports:

According to the INSA press agency, the man shown getting his finger cut off was charged with robbery and adultery by a court in the southwestern city of Shiraz. He was also accused of being at the head of a criminal organisation…he was [also] sentenced to three years in prison and 99 whip lashes.

No independent witnesses were able to recount the circumstances under which this amputation took place. Four photos of the scene published by the press agency were widely relayed on social media networks. Strangely enough, the man’s face did not betray any signs of suffering in the photos, though it is possible that he might have been drugged.

Though TheBlaze is unable to verify the authenticity of these photos, if authentic, there’s little doubt how much pain the punishment would have inflicted. One photograph showed the man’s hand being taken out of the machine, revealing that four of his five fingers were chopped off, leaving only his thumb and a bloody mess.

Mahmoud Amiry-Moghaddam, a human rights activist with Iran Human Rights based in Norway told France 24: “What is surprising about this is that not only was this a public amputation, but that photos of it were distributed by official press agencies, and that they showed a machine that we had until yet never seen images of.”

His assessment is that the photos were intentionally posted as a warning to those who intend to launch protests leading up to the Iranian elections in June. “I believe this is a strategy to instil fear in the population so as to avoid any protests,” he said.

France 24 blurred this bloody photo. The original on ISNA showed four of the man’s fingers were completely cut off, leaving only his thumb.

Iran which has been under sharia law since 1979 has a notorious reputation for meting out violent corporal punishments. Amnesty International ranked Iran as the top country in terms of the number of executions it carried out, that is 360 in 2011, the most recent year such figures were compiled.

Just last week, Amnesty called on Iranian authorities to cancel the death penalty for five Arab minority members. It also condemned Iran’s execution last week of a 21-year-old who was arrested as a juvenile offender, calling it “a deplorable disregard for international law.”

As TheBlaze reported last year, Iranians were photographed taking children to watch public hangings.

Iran reportedly does alot of worse things than chop off fingers. I know for a fact that theft is often punished by the loss of fingers or a hand in Iran, Syria, and Saudi Arabia.

The fact that the method used involves a saw instead of sword or knife is of little consequence. I imagine the treble whine of a table saw and the fact that it looks like a rusty, grease stained, contraption adds a nice dose of fear and drama.

Iran’s punishments and executions are rarely doled out to the public, because they are horrific, and Iran has an image problem internationally. When they are released, you can bet it’s for a reason.
This is a warning designed to chill the blood and make someone think twice about protesting the government.

If they would have heated the blade up by cutting 30 flooring planks, then there would have very been little blood. Yes, the trauma doesn’t set in till you see blood or your fingers lying on on the ground.

Thats rust on the fly wheel. Besides, there would be no reason for blood to spattered everywhere from a compression cut/shear. The guy is organized crime leader, of course he wants to look tough and take the pain..it is possible.

Iran, Saudi the UAE and a host of others have been doing amputation for a very long time. This is not new or even need to be faked.

“BODYBAG, I almost had my thumb cut off by a table saw one time. I didn’t feel any pain at the time. Just a tug as the teeth ripped through my flesh. Try to speak from experience instead of theory next time.”

I’ve witnessed one amputation and a couple of partial amputations before. When the cut was clean, there was very little blood, but if it was a rough sheer, then there was plenty of blood. In all cases, the reaction to the pain was severely delayed, and usually started when the person saw the damage.

From a medical stand point; When there is a clean amputation, the veins pull back into the limb and seal almost immediately, resulting in very little blood-loss/spray. When the cut is perpendicular to the limb, or the cut shreds or crushes, then the bleeding is profuse and will not stop without medical attention. Our bodies are very good at stopping blood loss when it comes to a clean amputation, but not when the damage leaves a messy opening.

I have to agree with this poster, speak from experience please. I believe it when some people feel the pain immediately, don’t get me wrong, but if you cannot see the injury, or do not notice it, the typical person will not feel it as pain due to shock. Blood is also a bad way to identify an amputation, simply by the way our bodies react to a clean removal.

I’m not a fan of any country in the Middle East, but let’s not forget that the propaganda is getting ramped up for our upcoming invasion of Iran. All to protect Israel (who can protect themselves on their own).

Photos can be faked and whole scenes can be fabricated to sway public opinion. I wouldn’t put it past Israel to stage this scene. They are masters of propaganda as demonstrated by the “chosen people’s” ownership of the media and Hollywood in this country.

Just to put you in the picture:
      1. We don’t need the US’s help to take care of Iran.
      2. We don’t do propoganda as a prelude to protecting ourselves.
      3. When we do take care of Iran, it will take a lot of digging around to find out who actually did it and in fact that it was actually done. .
      4. Where would we find such a rusty contraption in Israel? If we were to build a machine to punish criminals, it would be made of sugical stainless steel because God forbid we cause some dirtbag an infection, the UN and Europe in general, led from behind by your president, would be all over us like hyenas: Barking, yapping and laughing, and fighting with each other over something as insignificant as scraps.

Amnesty International – calling it “a deplorable disregard for international law.”

Hello? This is Iran! Sharia Law is in full effect there. They think everyone not of Islam is a Kufir (non-believer). Do you think they give anything about what you think?

Now I do have to admit that I think we are way to light on your criminals. When I was stationed in Saudi Arabia, a lady forgot her purse on the bus. The next day, the purse was still in the seat she had sat in the day before, nothing missing. Maybe we would have less repeat offenders if they only had 1-hand left. Kind of hard to run out with a TV or stereo when you only have one hand to grab it with. That said, there is nothing on earth worth going to Iran.

As for the machine, I think we should test it on Mah-mood Ack-ma-dinner-jacket. See if it really works.

The bloody picture is out of focus. I once had my thumb smashed in a door, it ripped the flesh from the bone, I could hit a person 6 feet away between the eyes every time my heart beat, I had no feeling until the 23rd and 24th stitch that held the flesh back on the bone. I am not surprised the person is not showing what some think he should for pain.

    “rotary saw-like function”

Not that it makes much difference, but I’m forever amazed at how little reporters actually know about what they are reporting!!!! That looks like a little 5 or 10 Ton Punch Press…………not a “saw” of any kind. Makes me question the validity of much of what I read on the printed page. Don’t get me wrong, a punch press can mangle a finger or hand like no other sadistic torture tool on the planet. It could certainly be set up to “amputate” with little problem. Looks like a nasty old, rusty one and I imagine posting pictures of it might be much more intimidating that just showing someone having a hand whacked off with a sword or axe. At any rate, the government of Iran are ruthless, mindless savages. Don’t know why someone hasn’t just wiped them off the face of the earth a long time ago. Maybe Israel is getting ready to do it!

Sorry, but this is a fake. The machine is clearly a powered shear. The motor drives the large flywheel, seen at the right top of the machine. This flywheel is connected to a shaft that runs left through the top of the solid green assembly to an offset arm, seen pointed down in the first picture. As this arm rotates, it moves up and down the heavy shearing blade, “T” shaped when seen from the end (first pic) with a sharp bevel on the bottom edge. The shearing blade runs up and down right next to a fixed anvil.

At no point do we see the man’s fingers extending through the cutting zone, between the blade and anvil. Switch to the last picture, where this man’s fingers have allegedly been cut off by the shear. The blade is up relative to the anvil, since you can see through this space around the man’s waist. Notably, there is no evidence of blood or tissue on or around the blade or anvil. There is absolutely no possibility that this man’s fingers have just been cut off on this machine.

    Nice tale, though.

      Morning BIOHAZARD,

Did you actually “see” your comment post and then not see it later.

      Very important difference.

RJ, I don’t know WTH is going on. Maybe our resident trolls are having a little fun with the site?

Good morning, Monk! BTW, I’ve been up and working since 3:45. I know – yuck!

The children’s version is a pair of medium-sized wire cutters. We can’t have them playing with cigar cutters, now can we? I mean, wouldn’t that be sending the wrong message, namely that tobacco is OK? Heh heh heh….

“”the man shown getting his finger cut off was charged with robbery and adultery”"

Adultery??? I think they skipped the pics of the chopping for that particular crime….

Hey, guys! Thanks, Kiwi. I try to be pretty laid back, although some topics really get under my skin. :)

But yeah, my comment was there earlier. Someone at the Blaze doesn’t like me anymore (or any less?). Oh, the horror!! Heh heh heh….

I dont know if this story is true but a caller to a conservative radio station said he was talking with a far left guy who was complaining about gay rights in this country. So he says “In muslim countries they hang you for being gay” to which the guy responded we need to respect their culture. LOL. I guess we need to respect this aspect of their culture as well.

It takes 3 of them to cut off 1 finger or however many.

    More medieval savagery.

One is scarcely surprised any more.

Another Middle East theocracy on the slippery slope toward rebellion…

Looking at those photos and reading the story sort of makes one feel better about how Iran’s nuclear program must be progressing. More than likely they are just working on an advanced ray gun that removes fingers, hands, and feet for these procedures.

      @ Gonzo

I wouldn’t be too sure about that. All Iranians are feeling the pinch and the younger Iranians are becoming increasingly restless.

Things are not going all that well for the regime, though they try to downplay it.

It’s hard to predict what will happen next in that Godforsaken country, but I’ll bet that the Imams are becoming a little bit anxious…

@NZKiwi – no matter what though, any democratic uprising that happens again Obama will refuse to aid in any shape, means or form. His loathing for anyone loving or seeking freedom is absolute unless it serves his political agenda.

I wonder if the NASA muslim outreach program helped them with this. Or are they giving us this new technology. I’m so confused.

“Cigar cutter”, I had no idea. I spent my career in a shipyard founded in 1901 and full of real antique machines. I saw their device as a powered metal punch. I’m sure they salvaged it from the wreckage of Fordow Nuclear.

Wow, who knew those moo slims were so technologically advanced? One of these days, they may even join the 21st century. .

Of course, the rest of the world will continue to be about 30,000 years ahead of them, but still….

Idiots have been watching too many of those Rockwell infomercials. All they really had to do was call on the Japanese Yakuza for a few lessons in efficiency.
