Military Helicopters Fly Over Miami in Joint Exercise With the Military, Sounds Like Machine Gun Fire

A number of Miami residents have been startled to see military helicopters buzzing above their heads throughout the past week. The helicopters have been seen circling the skies, soldier-like figures have apparently been repelling onto rooftops, and some have even reported hearing what sounds like gunfire. So what’s going on?

According to officials, there’s nothing to be concerned about. But that hasn’t stopped a number of local residents from raising concern.

The Miami Herald related about a week ago, before the drills started:

Miami-Dade police sent out a warning [last] Monday that multiple police agencies would be providing support for a joint military training exercise somewhere over Miami and elsewhere in the county. The exercise will include the use of military helicopters.

The police statement said the training locations and times “were carefully selected to minimize negatively impacting the citizens of the City of Miami/Miami-Dade County and their daily routines.”

But it also acknowledged that there would be some impact on residents.

“This is routine training conducted by military personnel designed to ensure the military’s ability to operate in urban environments, prepare forces for upcoming overseas deployments, and meet mandatory training certification requirement,” the police statement said.

But those who don’t read the papers were terrified at the sight of soldiers rappelling onto rooftops, as what sounded like machine gun fire echoed off the high-rises.

Josh Epperson, an artist who was visiting Miami during the drill, remarked: “I heard the machine gun fire and then I hit the deck…I didn’t know what to expect, and it was one of the loudest things I’d ever heard.”

And he isn’t alone — a number of Miami residents have already uploaded videos to YouTube of the unexpected sight.

One man caught the choppers from a window high above the city on his camera phone:

However, this isn’t the first time military helicopters have flown over Miami. CBS Miami notes that a similar training operation was conducted in April of 2011.

And the drills are not limited to Miami — TheBlaze’s Liz Klimas reported on Black Hawk helicopters whizzing above Minneapolis buildings over the summer for a similar urban training exercise.

HERE THEY COME! And I have also noticed many black helecopters flying two distinct patterns, there is a FEMA location nearby.

  All this urban training in our major cities started with Obama’s presidency. It happened here in St Louis last summer. They said soldiers from another base in the U.S. had to come train to drive on the streets of St Louis. If you believe what they are saying as to why they are doing this, I have some swamp land to sell you. They have no reason to do this other than preparing to lock down our U.S. cities. They did this same thing in L.A. a couple of years ago as well. There was also another major city they did it in but I can’t remember which. Find yourself some land far away from any metropolitan area and be prepared to flee there quickly. Find yourself a backroad route to your property as well. Highways will be shut down. Just a friendly tip for my fellow patriots.

  I’m sure the “why” is at the forefront of everybodies mind at the moment. Especially when one considers the huge amounts of ammunition and guns that government departments have been buying in recent months.

  The good thing is if a guy with a Barret 50 Cal. is by chance in the neighborhood these helicopters can be shot down with one good shot. Couple guys with AR-10′s or AR-15′s might need to empty the mag’s but its doable.

  I am not comfortable with the blending of Military and local police forces. Federalization of local LE is not a good idea IMO.
  
  There are extensive military mock-ups for such training. IMO there is a psychological component to having this done in plain sight of the civilian public.
  
  On the other hand, BHO will find himself unpleasantly surprised by the sheer numbers of military who form an all-out insurrection should he continue to cross lines.

  Chopper gunships fly 24/7 patrols at tree top level three to four times a day. At night they come very low to scare people. The choppers do not have any markings but one had a tail number that was traced as belonging to the Department of Energy in Colorado. If you can get the tail number you can find out on the internet who they are owned by. It would be nice if there were some clearing house where sightings could be reported. We are at War its just that the shooting has not started.

  Many comments talk about the increase of overflights in the urban areas. Then why are conservatives fearing FEMA camps? Chicago, Minneanoplace, Miami, etc. are all liberal strongholds. To “round up” the conservatives they would have to hit the ‘burbs and rural areas. That is a well acknowledged demographic fact.
  
  I look at this latest one in Miami and immediately think about Rio and the upcoming Olympics. Taller buildings exist in very defined locations. Start thinking of foreign areas that we may be gearing up for. Unless you want to believe George Bush is plotting revenge on the liberals.

History tells us that many of the useful idiots will be exterminated, but some of the Presidents key subversives are in urban environments and will need to be evacuated. Additionally, there is material wealth to be gathered quickly before the kaos and riots get beyond ever military control.

  May I give an assessment of the locations of these sightings? I think it has to do with the inevitable collapse of the economic system. The Federal Reserve has the country split up into several zones of control. For each zone there is a Federal Reserve site where FedRes money is funneled to from D.C. Then from each of these city sites the money is funneled into your local banks when those banks need loans for which they use to loan money to their customers a.k.a us. It’s this system and these locations that they have to protect and, wouldn’t you know it, these military operations have been happening in these same cities. I’m not trying to throw out some random conspiracy theory. I’m just pointing out the obvious. It’s up to you to decide if it’s coincidence or not.

  What you are seeing is military training by some tier one military units nothing more. Be proud for you are some of the few to witness these units at work. These men in the black helicopters are the same men that flew into Pakistan to get Osama, that is why they practice in these urban areas. They also practice Escape and Evasion Techniques in case they are shot down. The reason I know is because I was a member of this unit. We had our turn in St Louis when I was in. Yes that was under Bush 1, we had to practice in case we had to go to Bagdad to free POW’s.

  First off. Never while I was in, did any military aircraft fly without some sort of safety light on. These birds don’t have any lights. Also, notice the way that they take off after repelling out. To me, they look Hispanic. I mean first time I saw the video that’s what I saw. Also, why is it that one of them has a boonie cap on, and the rest helmets? Everything about their movements look weird. Not how I was trained.

  There has been increased helicopter activity in this area as well. No Markings on the birds either. As a former Airborne Infantryman I can tell you that any training I did for MOUT (Military Operations In Urban Terrain) was done on a base or Govt. range. This is wrong on so many levels.

A Veteran who recently got out of the Army, told me there is 2000 United Nations troops at Fort Bragg training for civil unrest. When the U.N. comes into a city, someone takes one shot at then, they are under orders to kill every man, women and child in that town. When civil unrest happens in America, the United Nations is going to wipe a city off the map to keep the rest of the country line.

These military execises are more common than you might think. There’s a military base about 20 or 30 miles from where I live and I see these types of things on occasion. The first time completely freaked me out. There were four black helicopters all flying in fancy formations. They were practicing manuevers very, very close to roofs of surburban houses in my neighborhood. The 4 helicopters would switch formations always doing things very symmetrically. If two helicopters did one thing, the other two mirrored them. It was like they were covering each other from potential enemies.

I wish I had videotaped it. It was a lot more dramatic than this Miami footage. They would ascend into the sky a little bit and then all four would dive right at a specific house. It was pretty impressive flying actually. If I weren’t pooping my pants I probably would have enjoyed it more. I thought they were there for me for the first 30 seconds or so ;)

  Tier 1 units have been conducting training like this for 20+ years throughout America’s dense urban cities. No Military training site can fully replicate a real city with all the traffic, cultural lighting and high-rise buildings, trust me when I say these men are on our side.

  1.1 BILLION rounds of ammunition ordered by the federal government and delivered in 2012. Olin Corp. cannot build it fast enough. Much of that ammo ordered is hollow point. Surplus fired brass normally sold back to manufacturers is now being destroyed en mass. But hey, we are all just paranoid. The government isn’t preparing for anything out of the ordinary. Right? For perspective, the amount of ammo used by the US Military each year during the IRAQ WAR is… 70 million. Why is the federal government stockpiling weapons, ammo, and equipment?

Most likely it was a legitimate training exercise by the armed forces; yet under the Obama admin I cannot help but wonder if this is being used more and more to condition the citizens for the day when he moves against the ‘undesirables’ of the land and eliminates ‘enemies of the state.’

  I live near Ft Bragg, worked as a civilian instructor for almost 30 years. The American military is the best defense we have against tyranny. They are VERY unimpressed with the Commie in Chief. You want to see a soldier spit-mention Obama. If and when the time comes they will defend the Constitution. Obama knows this, there is no love lost on either side.

Military exercises in urban areas? Never heard about them until last year.

The military has many large sprawling bases in which to conduct their urban exercise – what they DON’T have on those bases, is the use of local paramilitary forces to run joint exercises with: police, SWAT, militarized FBI and Nat’l guard.

Why would those paramilitary forces need to be involved in military exercises “designed for military conduct overseas”?

HUGE shortage of ammo at the Costa Mesa Gun Show this weekend. Long queued lines from opening hour until we left at 2pm. By mid-morning, 9mm and .45cal was sold out, as were 22rimfire ammo (I did see two old Aguila brand .22cal bricks of 500 for $50 a box). Most sales of 9mil and .45 were by the case or ammo-box load. Limits of 1000-2000rds per customer were the norm.

Was told supplies should catch up to demand in a couple of months.

  Twenty years ago when I was in the Air Force we would hold “urban exercises” as cover for tests of different “prototype” weapons systems. Miami is close to both the Air Force/NASA Eastern Test Range and the Navies East Coast acoustic test array.

  All that Obama needs is a few cities to go bonko with the upcoming gun grab, economic collapse, food shortages, illegal legaliztion, people pissed off, etc. for him to let loose the hounds. A few (thousand maybe?) people shot/killed to scare the rest of the population and the rest of the country will fold out of fear–especially when entitlements are limited and health care rationed. The sheep will be going “baa, baa, baa…..”. No one will know who to trust or turn to…. And if there is more resistance than anticipated, then he’ll call in the forgien UN troops to help…..Hell…they are already here waiting for their marching orders. They may be already participating in these urban drills aready. Here is a scary thought…may be the government already has the drug cartels on their side to help out with the intimidation factor and killing of patriot leaders by infiltrating militia groups. These cartels and paid ex-military gorilla thugs may even help out by starting “terrorist like” attacks just to create a reason for the government to get heavy handed. For their help, they’lI get some “spoils”. I remember a Chuck Norris movie that resembled this.

  You are right on the “training” but I was Air Force and we would get the Marines to hold “urban exercises” to cover for my unit setting up radars and other equipment to instrument tests being made off shore. We got the good citizens of Carmel and Monterey California all upset during testing of a stealth aircraft back in he 1980s
  
  Miami is just inshore of the Air Force’s Eastern Test Range and the Navies acoustic test range. What would be interesting is going on 50 miles east. Marines don’t need to practice fast roping in downtown Miami when they could be up at Cherry Point where they have a urban training facility where they can use live ammo.
