Colin Powell Reveals Why He Voted for Obama Twice in Contentious Interview With Bill O’Reilly

In an exclusive and wide-ranging interview on Tuesday, Fox News’ Bill O’Reilly asked former Secretary of State Colin Powell how he could vote for President Barack Obama twice as a Republican.

Powell said it simply came down to the economic plans put forth by the Republican campaigns, which he says were not “suited for the times we were in.”

O’Reilly argued that Obama’s economic plan didn’t work in his first term at all. He also said the situation for African Americans and other minority groups has only gotten worse under the president.

“So you basically said to yourself I’m still going to support the guy even though his economic policies haven’t worked for African Americans and pretty much anyone else,” O’Reilly said, referring to Powell’s decision to vote for Obama a second time.

“Why do you only see me as an African American, Bill? That troubles me,” Powell shot back. “I’m an American.”

O’Reilly said he was referring to his complaints about the GOP not doing enough to cater to African Americans and minorities.

Powell and the Fox host also touched on voter I.D. laws and immigration policy.

The second part of the interview focused on former Mitt Romney surrogate and former New Hampshire Gov. John Sununu calling Obama “lazy.” O’Reilly jabbed at Powell for previously hinting that it was possibly a racial “code word.”

“He said he was lazy after the first debate and he said it a couple of times,” Powell said.

“So what?” O’Reilly interjected.

Powell also took exception with Sununu saying Obama needs to learn how to be an American.

“You have to understand the impact this has on minorities throughout our country. And if you want to appeal to these people… you have to avoid this kind of language that infuriates people.” he said.

  IT IS INSANITY for anyone to believe the voting is not rigged — especially in FLORIDA, OHIO, INDIANA and PA. I don’t know how many people have to testify that they voted multiple places and were bussed in to vote more. POWELL is a sell-out. IF he really wanted AMERICA (not the entitlement state) he would have worked for that. WHATEVER. Maybe these guys have to fall on their own swords and I hope it’s not too late to “FIX AMERICA” when they are finished.
  
  I have one question I want someone to answer: IF OBAMA is HALF BLACK and HALF WHITE…why don’t people refer to him as WHITE??? Half and HALF…what makes him the first BLACK PRESIDENT? HE clearly is not. I think he’s the ANTI-CHRIST and just as in the LEFT BEHIND SERIES (while I don’t endorse all of what they say, especially once they run out of Revelations to guide them) I do believe that this is the one who “came out of no where” Mesmerized people and attempted to be the RULER of the WORLD. AGAIN…WHATEVER…if that is the case, that means Jesus is coming !!! MARANATHA.   I am a Republican because I vote for republicans. I switched to independent for a couple of years when wishy-washy, RINOs were being put forth. When Mitt Romney started to finally have an opportunity to speak and I learned more about his family, faithfulness, character, and humility, I registered Republican.
  
  If I had a chance to say something to Mr. Powell, it would be:
  
  “Sir, I believe you have stayed at this party too long, and it is time for you to go to where your friends are hanging out…

  Bill O’Reilly is a poor excuse of a journalist. He lied through his teeth in attempting to discredit those who know that Barry Soetoro (aka Barack H. Obama; Harrison J. Bounel) has been using a fraudulent SS# which was FLAGGED several times by E-Verify because it is indeed fraudulent. O’Reilly’s lie came when he said that Obama’s father procured the SS# when he lived in Conn. Barry nor Obama senior never lived in Conn. Obama is using a dead man’s number, one that the Social Scurity Administration has admitted was never issued to Barack H. Obama. O’Reilly could take down this FRAUD in Chief anytime he wanted to, his show has that kind of viewing. He is as big a fake a Colin Powell. O’Reilly could conduct an interview with Lt. Mike Zullo but he knows Zullo (the lead investigator for Sheriff Joe Arpaio) would destroy any of O’Reilly’s attempts to defend Obama’s forged birth certifcate and would force Americans to listen. O’Reilly thinks the Hawaiian “birth announcement” is his ace in the hole when in fact the address on those two birth announcements have an address in which no Durham ever lived.

  Gen. Powell isn’t a racist. Suggestions to the contrary are a little myopic at best. Colin Powell is a hero of mine for many reasons, and after this interview he still is.
  
  That said, I think that he joined the wrong party. He made several comments that place him firmly in the left-wing camp.
  
  Three examples; firstly suggesting that the lot of Americans in general, and minorities in particular, will be improved as the economy “spreads out more”. This is redistribution of wealth, or stated differently, high tax and entitlements.
  
  He complained about voter ID making it difficult for minority groups to vote. This is patently false and is a left-wing talking point
  
  He managed to carefully applaud Mr Obama regarding the management of the economy. With the USA staggering under an appalling level of debt created by the president, his comments left me shaking my head in disbelief.
  
  He stated that the GOP had shifted too far to the right, when in fact it seems, to me at least, to be gently drifting left and is standing on ground that used to be occupied by the democrats of yesteryear.
  
  He is still a hero of mine and I console myself with the fact that none of my heroes are perfect.

  I agree 100% with Rick. Powell is an extreme disappointment and a racist. Obama is the worst president in American history. If you voted for him, you are either a brain dead liberal moron or a black racist. Racism is alive and well in the hearts many blacks. I don’t see it in my day to day life because I associate with mostly libertarians & conservatives and I don’t tolerate evil people like most liberals. The conservatives I know are mostly color blind. It is the left that is obsessed with race and practice daily the racism of low to no expectations. The irony of where America is today is that, Republicans freed the blacks from being owned as property by Democrats only to have the Democrats enslave a growing number of people of all races with welfare. When he was elected in spite of my grave concerns about his “record” and lack of experience and the many promises he made while campaigning (I’ll make electricity too expensive to afford, I’ll kill the coal mining business, this country needs and internal army) – I hoped he would be the one to settle racial differences once and for all. That maybe he WAS the “brilliant” person the leftists think he is. I am utterly distressed by who he really is and what he had done to our country. There was a time I thought General Powell was a potential Presidential contender. The more I learned about him, the less enchanted I became. When he showed his RINO leanings, he lost my respect all together. If you are a democrate, then be one. Don’t use the good will you built up to sit back and snipe at your party. Get back to doing something useful to support the Constitution with all your experience. I retired from the Navy in ’94 after 21 years, but still take my oath of enlist as binding.

  That’s the trouble with the socialist/racist left. They have no trouble with confusing voter-eliibility checks with racism.
  I had posted here many times for the past 1-1/2 years to read “Injustice”, by J Christian Adams. The book explains just how corrupt the Holder/Obama DOJ has become. Illegal votes were rampant in at least the last two elections. Why in he** do you think those judges denied states the right to verify voter eligibility?

  We just had a major “Discussion” over gun control, he is for outright confiscation and banning of all guns. When I told him “You do know I have a conceal carry?” He about lost his mind.

  What kills me is that he could be identified as a white man… it always boggles my mind that they never see the white part of themselves and Powell is way more white than he is black.. I don’t hear him ever standing up for the white part of himself have any of you??

  The elections are tainted, as B O ‘s peops not only have control of the pollers (see Dick Morris’s columns on this last fall b4 election) so that any outcome is “expected” but changing the polling machines’ code is Programming 101 (I know this from experience) — google the NASA programmer who testified before Congress I think in ’04 about the FL race in which he was told to change the code by his manager. Maxine Waters was very interested in how they did this! BTW, Soros bought several of these companies who OWN the polling machine companies….we will never win again, at least until we go to the Iraq way of voting — ONE finger stained in ink — ONE vote. Google also the Milwaukee police reports — 60 PAGES LONG — of complaints of VOTER FRAUD, especially the buses pulling up to the precincts with obviously non-residents — they not only voted once, but all of them circled right back around and voted again — when residents tried to video this action, they called the police and told them that the residents were trying to keep them from voting….THE VOTING IS RIGGED.
