President Obama Authorizes $155 Million in New Aid to Syria: Victims Will ‘Continue to Find a Partner in the United States of America’

Barack Obama Authorizes Another $155 Million in Humanitarian Aid to Syria, Reiterates Support for Opposition

(TheBlaze/AP) — President Barack Obama authorized an additional $155 million in humanitarian aid for the Syrian people Tuesday, as his administration grapples for a way to stem the violence without direct U.S. military involvement.

Obama announced the additional funding Tuesday in a video aimed at the Syrian people.

“The relief we send doesn’t say ‘Made in America,’ but make no mistake – our aid reflects the commitment of the American people,” Obama said in the video, which was posted on the White House website.

The fresh funding brings the total U.S. humanitarian aid to Syria over the past two years to $365 million, according to the White House. Officials said the money is being used to immunize one million Syrian children, purchase winter supplies for a half million people, and help alleviate food shortages.

“We’re under no illusions; the days ahead will continue to be very difficult,” Obama said. “But what’s clear is that the regime continues to weaken and lose control of territory. The opposition continues to grow stronger. More Syrians are standing up for their dignity. The Assad regime will come to an end.”

But many are concerned that the U.S. will only replace a violent dictator with violent Shariah Law in supporting the Syrian opposition (though the current batch of funding does not go to military aid).

The U.S. has long called for Syrian President Bashar Assad to leave power, saying the fall of his regime is inevitable.

In addition to the hundreds of millions in humanitarian aid, the White House has also ratcheted up economic sanctions on Assad’s regime and recognized the rebel-led Syrian Opposition Council as the legitimate representative of the Syrian people.

“There are transitions and transformations taking place all around the world,” Obama cautioned over the weekend on 60 Minutes. “We are not going to be able to control every aspect of every transition and transformation,”

The United Nations says more than 60,000 people have been killed since March 2011, when the clashes between the Syrian government and rebel forces started. The violence has also forced millions of people from their homes, destroyed the country’s cities and created food and fuel shortages. On the day Obama’s latest aid package was announced, 65 were reportedly found bound and shot in Aleppo.

“The Syrian people will have their chance to forge their own future,” Obama said. “And they will continue to find a partner in the United States of America.”

If he is giving money away he can just put the $716 M back into the Medicare Program that he took
out last year.

  This along with all foreign aid, regardless what department it comes from (including) defense is the first item that should be cut from the current budget. Time to invest in the US. Not in our allies or our enemies. Our allies should learn to pay their own way and our enemies should offer us something in return. How about $50 a barrel oil. The same thing we should get from Iraq until they pay us back every cent we wasted over there.

  Remember….in America even the poor is better off than 80% of the entire world….so when you look at it through Obama’s eyes….when you factor in both the poor and rich in America then that puts America in the “1%” that he continiously says are not paying their “fareshare”. We have the poor trying to feed their families and the elderly trying to make ends meet.. skipping some of their much needed medicines and Obama send another 150 million to Syria… How about instead you take care of your own nation.. and to hell with those who hate us! Hello America, does the weight of taxation killing your back yet?? If you think its bad now.. just wait and see what the next 4 years brings and it ain’t gonna be pretty!

let’s see… that’s more than 3 million per state…
at $30,000 annual salary that’s 5166 security officers with change…
it seems to me Syrians have enough guns.
and there is no clear ‘good guy’ in the battle…

so why is the President sending more money that could be spent protecting our kids here?!
and considering there has been no budget for 3 years, where is this money coming from?
and since this was not a ‘debt owed’ already why are we adding to the money we are spending?

where are the journalists who will ask why this President is providing funds to Al Queda terrorists at a time when we don’t have money enough for what is needed at home?!

Presumeably, the victims do not include the Chistians that are being slaughtered by the very people he wants to help or the Copic Chistians in Egypt or the Christians and Hindus and Buddhists in Pakistan or Nigeria and all the other places where religious minorites are being systamatically wiped out. Every day I am further convinced that this Charlatan Obama has a peronal mission of helping to usher in the Islamic Caliphate that will give rise the next Mahdi or in other words the coming anti Christ.

Well as of Jan. 27 a lot of business are now able to charge an additional 4% on your purcases when you use your credit card now. So basically that is a 4% tax. They say you can still use your ATM card and you won’t be charged the 4%, however, most banks charge you a fee once you go over a certain number of swipes.
  
  Plus, here in VA there are several counties that are trying to add what is called a “meal’s tax”. It is a seperate tax when you buy food. The funny thing about this is in one county they put this “meals tax” on the ballot and it was voted down, however, the county is now trying to go around the voters and install it anyways. So there is another tax…..at least in this area.
