Improvised Local News Interview With Drunk 49ers Fan Does Not Go Well: ‘How Long Have You Had an STD?’

As drunk football fans staggered along Bourbon Street in New Orleans in the lead up to Super Bowl Sunday, WKMG-TV reporter Jessica Sanchez attempted to conduct an improv interview with one seemingly intoxicated San Francisco 49ers fan — and it didn’t go well for either of them.

“Basically, what is left is the people walking around with this glazed look in their eyes and just stumbling,” Sanchez said during her stand-up report, when a drunk 49ers fan suddenly appeared in the shot. “Like this one behind me.”

“Heyyy,” the drunk woman interrupted. “49ers!”

This is where things got a little weird. Alright, a lot weird.

“We were just talking about, here along Bourbon Street the STD rates that has been going on here,” Sanchez explained. Then without receiving any indication that the woman might actually have a sexually transmitted disease, she proceeded to ask the woman: “So how long have you had an STD?”

“I don’t have an STD,” the woman replied, shocked at the insinuation.

“Oh, then why did you want to talk?” the reporter asked curiously, telling the woman it is “nothing to be ashamed of.”

“Oh my goodness…Are you serious? No, I don’t have an STD, that’s so disrespectful.”

It appears that Sanchez may have been trying to shame the drunk videobomber by asking such an embarrassing question. However, it will surely come off as inappropriate and unprofessional to many viewers.

“So you can see what I’ve been having to deal with,” Sanchez concluded.

  I dont know who you were looking at but i wouldn’t have called the drunk girl hot. And there is something kinda trashy and unattractive of a woman drunk stumbling down the street with a drink in her hand. You say yummy I say yucky. Now the reporter was hot.

She shouldn’t have invited her to talk and then hit her with subject matter of St D’s. Being drunk she’s lucky she didn’t get beat up. If she had been beat up that would’ve been news.

  You clearly do not understand the idea of libel. You cannot defame someone while speaking directly to them, especially not by asking them a question, rather than making a statement, and giving them a chance to respond.
  
  Besides, the woman deserved it. I’m sure you don’t appreciate someone constantly interrupting you and preventing you from doing your job.

  I’m not sure political correctness is the issue. More like decency, and integrity being the issue. As far as the interviewee is concerned, after one Hurricane at Pat Obriens, you are going to have a buzz on. She is there to celebrate her team going to the Super Bowl. I think she handled Sanchez’s childish, rude behavior as well as could be done in this situation. Was this a late night Comedy show? If it was, then maybe not that bad of a joke. If this is actually a Network News station, and a supposed serious Journalist, then this was an abhorrent thing to do to a Tourist, and Sanchez and her boss should have to apologize publically to the Tourist and their television audience, and admit they are idiots

  I agree in the last few seconds the reporter admitted that her questioning was a ruse “see what I have to deal with”. Deal with? What is her job? Why is she there? Has she never been intoxicated enough to make an ass of herself?? Oh, she doesn’t need to be intoxicated, she is an ass when sober.
