‘We Have a Shooter’: 1 Dead, 2 Wounded in Ariz. Shooting, Police Hunting Gunman

Phoenix Police Hunting Gunman Who Shot 3 Inside Office Building

PHOENIX (AP) — Police are searching for a 70-year-old man suspected in a Phoenix office shooting that left one dead and two wounded, saying that he is “armed and dangerous.”

Police identified the suspect as Arthur D. Harmon. They identified a man who died hours after the Wednesday morning shooting as 48-year-old Steve Singer. He’s the CEO of Fusion Contract Centers Inc.

Police say a 43-year-old man was listed in critical condition along with a 32-year-old woman.

Police didn’t release the names of the wounded, but a Phoenix law firm, Osborn Maledon, said one of its lawyers, Mark Hummels, was among the wounded.

The firm said he “was representing a client in a mediation” when he was shot.

As police searched for the shooter, SWAT teams and two armored vehicles surrounded his house about 7 miles from the shooting scene. Police served a search warrant to enter the home.

For a time, officers, believing the shooter was inside, used a megaphone to ask him to surrender.

The gunfire at the office complex prompted terrified workers to lock the doors to their offices and hide far from the windows. SWAT officers searched the building.

“Everyone was just scared, honestly, just scared,” said Navika Sood, assistant director of nursing at First at Home Health Services who along with her co-workers locked the entrances to their office.

Sood said police evacuated the office about 30 minutes after she first heard the popping noises.

The shooting took place on the same day that hearings on legislation to address gun violence were convened in Washington, with former Rep. Gabrielle Giffords testifying for stricter gun controls.

A gunman shot Giffords in the head during a shooting rampage in Tucson in January 2011.

Around 10:30 a.m., the gunman arrived at the office building and got into a dispute with someone, a conflict that escalated to the point where he drew a gun and shot three people, Thompson said.

Vannessa Brogan, who works in sales support at an insurance business in the three-story complex, said she heard a loud bang that she thought at first was from somebody working in or near the building.

She said others at the business thought they heard multiple loud noises. She said people locked themselves in offices until authorities evacuated the complex that houses insurance, medical and law offices.

Becky Neher, who works for a title company in the building, said the two gunshots she heard sounded like two pieces of metal banging against each other.

Watching from her second-story office, she saw people leaving the building.

“Someone yelled, `We have a shooter,’” she said. She saw two victims lying on the ground outside the back side of the building. She said health care workers who have offices in the complex came out to help.

Don Jaksa, a software consultant who works in the building, said he was listening to the radio when he suddenly heard “two pops.” He said he didn’t think they were gunshots.

“My co-worker goes to the range all the time,” he said. “He identified it as gunfire.”

His co-worker then locked the door. After five minutes, they left and ran into police and someone carrying a stretcher. The police escorted them back to their office and told them to lock the door again.

They were eventually evacuated, and as he sat on a rock outside the complex, his wife called to make sure he was OK after seeing the shooting on the news.

Workers were later allowed to leave the building. Two hugged each other when they got outside.

“You don’t expect this when you come to work,” worker Lindsa Rincon said.

I’m not a conspiracist by nature, however, I can’t miss the fact that the number of school shootings took off dramatically after the election. It seemed that there were multiple school shootings every week for awhile. Then there’s a whole bunch of workplace and entertainment place shootings as well.

Knowing the high regard for life that the Progressive Left has (an abortion in every womb and two cars in every garage) I got to wondering about the Left’s role in all of this. For instance, remember the “Truthers” claiming that 9/11 was an inside job? Believing that the Left is behind this huge increase in shootings for the purpose of obliterating the 2nd Amendment is really less ridiculous than thinking that 9/11 was an inside job. Pay a crazy here and there to go on a shooting spree and tell them that it’s really for “the greater good.” Sure a few innocents will die, but in the end think of all the others that will be “saved” by eliminating the guns.

Given the vitriolic hate seething from the Progressive Left, I really don’t have too much trouble considering this to be possible. After all, this is exactly the kind of bogus reasoning the Left uses against conservatives all the time.

Been saying practically the same thing all along. They know they’re about to do something drastic to this country and they also know that the majority of gun owning Americans won’t standby and let them do it. So, what’s the best was to deal with that. “GUN CONTROL” and eventually gun confiscation. The writing is on the wall so far as I’m concerned… Call me what you will, but I just don’t trust the bastards….

It would be quite easy for law enforcement and emergency personnel to coordinate and stage fake shootings in front of an unsuspecting public and news cameras. especially when they practice drills for these scenarios all the time. Orson Wells once convinced America that the world had been invaded by aliens with just a radio program.

The devil definitely knows who is in office and will marshal his troupes to march double time during a demoncratic regime. Like his party, the democratic party, he will try to use them to go after self defense weapons after any mayhem he creates. As anyone should be able to see, the devil has great evil intentions in mind for America, but our ability to defend ourselves is in the way.

Here we go…. another damn gun jumps up out this ignorant guys pocket and just starts shooting people. You really can’t trust those criminal minded guns to behave themselves…. Obviously this is BS, but when the liberal socialist/communist democrats get going on the crime, the pissed off gunman, obviously with criminal intent when he went there with his gun, will be secondary to the gun. Another reason for personal fire arms protection. This guy lost his cool when the big dollar guys tried to jilt him out of $20,000.00 bucks, but this is no reason to shoot and kill someone. Since when is a human life worth $20k? Stupid is as stupid does……

Hey, ask Pelosi and Feinstein…..bet the farm that they know where and WHO that shooter is. After all, they need to know where to send the check.

Is it only extremely obvious to just me, that we haven’t been hearing one word out of Pelosi since the start of the whole gun rights battle? She got reeeaaalll quiet shortly before the Colorado theater killings, and hasn’t been in the spotlight throughout. Did she just become disconcerned, or does she “know something else”??

ALL A SET UP PEOPLE! There’s not that many nut balls who have a club and decided to just start doing this “now”. It is way too convenient of timing. And I have to inform again that there are hundreds of murders every day that police and media choose not to report in order to “not alarm normal citizens”. That’s the way it works. But NOW you are going to see more and more getting ‘reported’ to MAKE IT LOOK LIKE there is ramped up violence everywhere, but it is IN FACT simply the normal amount. SMOKE AND MIRRORS. Do NOT believe what Obama controlled media is reporting! All they are doing is reporting the NORM that they left out before banning guns was the cool / in fashion.

Did you know most bank robberies go unreported on in the media?

The reason being is that MOST bank robbers get away and are never caught. If people knew this it would only lead to MORE bank robberies, so bank robberies are only reported if they meet the following criteria:

      1. The robber is apprehended.
      2. Someone is injured in the robbery and they are no longer just looking for a robbery suspect but a murderer/attempted murderer.

The more and more coverage of a type of crime the more and more the type of crime becomes salient in the minds of people who would actually commit such a crime. Hence, it should be no surprise that if we are constantly reporting on these situations the more crazies there will be that actually do it.

I guess the thought line is:
“Everyone else as mad as me did what I want to do and killed people; if they did it so will I.”

I believe this is similar to Glenn’s “Bubba Effect” he keeps harping about.

Let’s see exactly who this guy is and if he obtained the gun legally, through a gun show or off the street. It is certainly reasonable to limit an individuals ability to have a gun available to settle disputes or conflicts…. at least in a civilized society.
