Joke About Obama Making Like Lincoln at a Play by Jakosa at Turlock Chamber of Commerce Greeted With Boos

Local businessman Marty Jakosa was acting as the master of ceremonies during the 45th annual dinner for the Turlock Chamber of Commerce when he made an anti-Obama “joke” that was greeted with overwhelming boos by the audience, despite the chamber’s frosty relationship with the president.

CBS13 has the story:

The joke began with Jakosa talking about President Obama following in the steps of past presidents such as Washington and Jefferson.

It went sour though when Jakosa got to Lincoln.

“Is that it? How about you be like Abe Lincoln and go to a play?” Jakosa said as the crowd gasped. “…That’s a cute joke.”

Jakosa may have thought it was cute, but some say a joke about killing the president just isn’t funny.

“He’s our president,” David Boulos said. “We respect that and we honor that.”

Chamber president Sharon Silva was reportedly on stage with other prominent members of the community– including the mayor– when the joke was told.

“I know for a fact he wouldn’t do or say anything intentionally to hurt or offend anybody. It was a joke, but it wasn’t the right kind of a joke,” Silva told FOX40, adding that she’ll be looking for a new master of ceremonies next year.

Turlock wrote a profuse apology after the event, saying he was “truly, truly sorry” and “exercised extremely poor judgement.”

“I would never purposely disrespect the office of the President of the United States,” he added.

That didn’t sound like boo’s to me. It sounded like “ooooooo” as in “oooo burn!” I don’t think the people were offended at the joke…

Sometimes Conservatives make inappropriate jokes in the rush of the moment.

Liberals write entire plays about killing Bush, write a musical score to go with it, cast the play, find a venue, market it, sell tickets to it, and play it for 37 weeks in the “rush of the moment.”

Freedom of speech you know 1st Amend.He is a American and he can tell as many bad jokes as he wants.The left has said on talk shows how they want to kill gun owners with assault rifles.I don’t know about the rest of you but for me to give any man respect,he has to earn it.obummer has done nothing but lie to us sense 2008.To me hes just another lying politician.Where I come from we don’t respect that.He’s no different than any other liar.he just gets paid more.

You better show reverence for our “Lord and Savior” Obama. I have a copy of “The Death of a President.” They put real clips of W in with the fiction. W took in in stride. Obama has more in common with Kim L Sung than Lincoln, and his flock are maniacs.

That joke was in poor taste. Having said that an assassination joke about Bush in 2005 would result in an eruption of laughter from a liberal audience.

Please God, don’t anybody do anything stupid, the repercussions in our culturally divided nation right now could be horrendous. Impeach him, sue him, ridicule his foolish ways and try to get the “uninformed voters’ informed enough to get rid of him and his buddies but please, please don’t turn him into some martyr followed by Boozer Biden…..heaven forbid.

Don’t even give someone an idea. If this communist-in-chief was killed could you imagine the martyr he would become? Look at how they idolize Clinton. You know, the BJ Prez that sold China military secrets to fund his re-election campaign. The only President known to have raped women. The guy at the center of Whitewater.

Anyone notice how they closed the comment section on Manti Ta’o? I guess they got too many positive comments. Man you got to love a blog that so solidly supports the 1st Amendment.

It’s not really a joke about killing the President, so much as a joke about the President BEING killed. Active versus passive voice you see.
