Conservatives Launch New Social Network to Escape Facebook ‘Censorship’ — Will You Join?

Conservatives Launch New Social Network to Escape Facebook Censorship

(screengrab from teapartycommunity.com)

Fed up with the threat of “censorship” on Facebook, a group of a conservatives are launching their own social network called “The Tea Party Community.” The site, which doesn’t even officially go online until Saturday, has already attracted nearly 50,000 members.

The site’s co-founder, Tea Party activist Ken Crow, told Fox News that The Tea Party Community will be the “new home for conservatives and the Tea Party movement in America.”

“Most of us are subjected to censorship on Facebook…I’ve been suspended there as have many of my friends. You also absorb a lot of abuse from liberals,” Crow said.

Crow reportedly teamed up with Tim Selaty Sr. and Tim Selaty Jr. to put the social networking site together in November, which dubs itself as a “safe haven for the conservative movement where we can share ideas and thoughts and express ourselves without fear of retribution.”

Crow said he, along with many other conservatives, feel as if Facebook intentionally targets conservatives through its policies.

“Most of us are subjected to censorship on Facebook,” Crow explained. “I’ve been suspended there as have many of my friends. You also absorb a lot of abuse from liberals.”

“As many as 100 Facebook users contacted Fox News with complaints that the social networking site had either removed conservative content or blocked them for posting conservative content,” Fox News reports.

Fox News has some additional details about The Tea Party Community:

It’s no surprise The Tea Party Community has a very similar look and feel to Facebook.

“That was intentional,” Crow said. “We didn’t want there to be a learning curve for the new members.”

You can “friend” people and “like” posts. You can also join pages and meet up with like-minded conservatives in your home state. And like Facebook – The Tea Party Community is free of charge.

Crow said he’s not surprised by the popularity of The Tea Party Community. He expects it to become not just a social networking site – but a political networking site.

As TheBlaze previously reported, Facebook recently threatened to shut down the popular conservative website “Chicks on the Right” Facebook fan page for a post that criticized White House Press Secretary Jay Carney.

“Jay Carney can kiss my assular area,” the post read.

The two women behind the website, Amy Jo Clark and Miriam Weaver, are thankful that Fox News, TheBlaze and other conservative websites covered their story as the exposure helped prevent them from being censored.

“Some of the smaller sites are getting pinged and hit by these liberal trolls and there’s no one they can talk to,” Clark said.

Many others have contacted TheBlaze alleging censorship by Facebook due to their conservative views.

I’ve been a part of it for over a month, and it is a great site. For all you critics, you obviously have not bothered to check it out, yet know everything about it. It is very conservative, unlike your omniscient criticism. For anyone interested, check it out. It’s not like Fascistbook where everything conservative is censored.

It sounds republican to me. Republican IS NOT, IN ANY WAY, “conservative” nor “tea party.”

@ Brother Winston – Right on, Brother! I have said this over and over, that “Republican” and “conservative” are not necessarily synonymous. I, for instance, would never, ever vote the Juan McCain, Palin, Giuliani, Gingrich, Rick Perry, Rubio or any other RINO who supports the ‘rights’ of illegal aliens over US citizens. All of the aforementioned are definitely Republicans, but they sure as heck aren’t ‘convservatives’ by a long shot!

I signed up for this yesterday, and it was swamped and running a little slow. Probably due to being pointed out here on the Blaze.

I went to the forum and immediately picked up the worn out thread about the Sandy Hook shootings being done by the government. The first person that pointed out a differing opinion, was labled a TROLL. Same tactic used by the lefties. . .Can’t beat them with facts, call them names.

If it looks like it is a site for extremist, whackos, and conspiracy theorists, I’ll be outta there. This site has all the makings of becoming the poster child for extremists, as seen by the MSM, and will be used against us.

They haven’t been in a long time and you are fooling yourself if you think they are.
They are indeed becoming irrelevant. They couldn’t even get their base out to vote in the November elections …. Conservatives are abandoning the GOP in droves.

Meanwhile, libertarians have opened a site that is more open to in depth discussions and plans of action, that is not viewable to the general public, and which supports GPG messaging in specific areas. Additionally the owner and other contributors write original content articles that are viewable by the public. This site has been open since December, though it has received none of the publicity of one of the pre-co-opted big name groups that have taken over the mantel of the Tea Party. :)

Reading all the “terms” for users and advertisers was kind of off putting. It sounds a lot like something Dick Armey might have a hand in. This would be even more off putting. It is still in beta, so I wait and see what further info pops out of the bushes before sharing with an unknown community.

All Tea Party “communities” are not created equal

I attended three different events when the “movement” was starting up: A local 9/12 event at the Westwood Federal Building — really great vibe; a Tea Party Express event in Griffith Park — bad vibe; and the Beverly Hills Tea Party event in Beverly Hills — good, but not great, vibe (of course it was 103 in the shade on the hottest day of the year).

I’ll wait to see if this is a Westwood, Griffith Park or Beverly Hills type of Community.

While I’m initially somewhat interested in this, I then come to the realization it will just be populated with mouth breathing, bigoted, religious nut jobs and have really nothing to do with real conservative values of Liberty. It will be filled with people that believe that an invisible sky person wants them to oppress people that are different than they are and want to rule others as a theocracy, and then pretend they believe in the US Constitution. So, think I’ll pass on this one.

Unpack this fascinating diatribe for me, JF.
      Specifically—
      1. What do you define as “real conservative values of Liberty” that “religious nut jobs have nothing to do with?”
      2. Who are the “different” people, that the “believers in an invisable sky person” are “oppressing” and how are they “different”?
      3. How are said “sky person believers” oppressing people that are different than they are?
      4. What evidence do you have for this “Shadow” Theocracy–what Laws has it passed or wants to pass?
      5. Do you believe that believing in “the free exercise of Religion” can be said to be believing, at least in part, in The Constitution?

I’m very far from being a lefty. I’m a libertarian. I believe in small government and freedom for everyone. The religious nuts want to keep people from loving who they want, banning things they think is wrong, and various other affronts to liberty in the name of their God, while claiming to believe in the freedom from religion we are promised as well as the freedom of religion. Anyone that wants to keep gay marriage illegal, and force their morality on others through government regulation, is a hypocrite if they say they believe in true constitutional principles. A real conservative believes in the freedom for all people, regardless of race, creed or sexual preference, as it’s their business, not yours, and you have no right to tell them how to live their lives or force them to conform to your paradigm. We are not ruled by the majority in this country. We are a Constitutional Republic, so we can ensure that the mob doesn’t infringe on the human rights of the minority. Sorry, that I don’t fall into your left/right world view, but I believe in Liberty and the freedom for people to be who they wish to be so long as they aren’t harming anyone else. If you feel you have the right to force others into your world view, then your are in the wrong. Not everyone believes in your distorted idea of the divine, or even if it exists at all. Hatred is all that comes from people like that. Not the love your god claims to represent. Your fear of what is different is disgust

I would have to disagree, the Sky Person, whichever you pick provided the morality that makes the Constitution work. Moral and ethical behavior is the glue that holds this country together. The Constitution and Bill of Rights stand as the pattern. A MORAL society make up the fabric. The constitution enables so much freedom that an immoral society can create the chaos we are experiencing presently. Did you ever wonder why the left is so energetic in promoting anything that would NOT be acceptable in a society envisioned by the founding fathers. Our Founding Fathers new to well the faults in a country led by any religious doctrine. They did not want to quell the morality provided in religious teachings of the day. They addressed that by preventing the Government from favoring any religion and still provide religious freedom, including muslim doctrines. Provided that they do not violate a persons basic rights. So much of our present state is allowed under the law but not ethical in the old standard. Example, look at corporate behavior, their creed is greed. Sad thing is, I see no cure other than a total breakdown………..I also am a bit apprehensive about joining any social network just so I don’t become a part of someones hit list. Thank you JADED, you made me think…

      @ JadedFate:

Dude. Chill out, will ya? I understand and empathize with your frustration, but you need to take a deep breath and count to ten, or something. Attacking those with whom you have so much in common is counter-productive – at best. You’re certainly not going to change any minds spewing a bunch of hateful rhetoric. All you’re doing is encouraging the communists/socialists in power!

That said, “we” have a LOT of work to do! And you “straight and narrow Republicans” (and race-haters!) need to understand that a split conservative vote in the mid-terms (and in 2016) will ensure there is no hope of stopping the tide of socialism, now sweeping the nation. We’ll have no chance whatsoever. You needn’t embrace Libertarian values entirely, however, RINO’s/NeoCons are the kiss of death! ANYTHING/ANYBODY who’s “establishment” has to go: replaced by liberty/open-minded constitution-minded _conservatives_ dedicated to the principles of the Founders: individual responsibility and small government. They’ve GOT to be communicators who can explain the folly of the intrusive, restrictive, anti-industry, over-zealous/anti-science/wholly out-of-control federal agencies & policies which have bankrupted this (once) great nation.

C’mon! We have the better argument, people. The Leftist ideal is the kiss of death to our Middle Class and the productivity & growth that fosters it – and that enables people to escape the generational curse of poverty and despair. Wake the h

I understand what you are saying Jaded, though your tone leaves a little to be desired in terms of tolerance.

I really think that the strength of the tea party is in it’s simplicity as stated in it’s inception – Fiscal conservatism, small government. If you try to add religion to that mix, you immediately weaken the platform as religion is a topic who’s debate must take place WITHIN the arena provided by the governing structure. It doesn’t matter what faith you have or don’t. That is a conversation we can have at our leisure if our Government is Constitutionally sound. Our faiths, or lack of them, will have no choice but to inform our actions, but legislation must be a servant of liberty.

I’ll have to see what this site is actually all about, but I’m hopeful.

    Lame,
To me it just further divides and keeps the rights voice segregated.

It would have been a lot wiser to keep the tea party out of it. It should be just like facebook where most people don’t know its political standing and the views they disagree with just get blocked.

When we lose an election because tens of millions think the tea party is racist bigots, making a facebook like site and calling it Tea Party Community is like they don’t want to reach anyone that matters and correct the lies in this country.

very poorly thought out if you ask me. Should have been one word and NO mention of the tea party. It needs to be all inclusive if anyone really cares about making a difference.

Really… whats it matter not being censored when everyone agrees with you??

We, the people have allowed our politicians to pit us against each other, and we have adopted their name calling, scapegoating, do nothing ways. You are so right in that we have gained nothing if we are not able to articulate our truth in order to persuade others to stand with us, and preserve the nation.

If you’re being censored by the Left, you’re already segregated. This is a way to counter that. That being said, I genuinely distrust when big name groups or recognized high power individuals take on the name “Tea Party”. It used to be a liberty movement, but dang if it hasn’t been guided into being a reliable GOP voting bloc, which was never the intent as I understood it.

There is a threat of living in an echo chamber, but with the MSM dominating every other venue (and trolls galore on FOX Nation and The Blaze), it’s nice to see a place where Conservative, Constitutional values are freely expressed. In the end, none of it matters unless the Conservatives can defeat the liberals in elections.

A new site for conservatives sounds refreshing to me—and the only reason people are commenting against it, is because they’re a bit fearful it just might be “successful.”

And since it’s been described as a “conservative” network (code for FAKE-conservative REPUBLICAN network) – strike two.

And, finally, having just read these words from Ken Crow, ridiculing THE GRANDFATHER OF THE TEA PARTY RON PAUL: “It is no secret that Congressman Ron Paul has followers that resemble those followers of the late Reverend Jim Jones. These people will actually become glassy-eyed and froth at the mouth at hearing a less than honorable word spoken about their beloved Congressman”…

A good concern, exactly why I never joined Facebook. If you choose to join, just make sure you edit your profile, account, privacy settings, to permit only the personal info you want to share. Yes, there is a lot of info, birthdate, state, gender, name, and more if you add it, but just change your settings – you control what you put out there as public. And I hope everyone (was 55,000+) goes back and takes a look at how their profile is showing and does the same, privacy is important because everyone should protect their information. God bless!
