Sen. Cruz Confronts Chuck Hagel With Old Audio on Israel in Heated Confirmation Hearing Exchange

In some of the most talked-about fireworks to come from defense secretary nominee Chuck Hagel’s Senate confirmation hearing Thursday, Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) asked Hagel whether he thinks the state of Israel has “committed war crimes” — after confronting him with an old clip in which he seemed to agree with the characterization.
“The caller suggested the nation of Israel has committed war crimes. And your response to that was not to dispute that characterization but indeed to describe what he said as, quote, “Well I think that’s exactly right,” Cruz said to Hagel after the 2009 clip from Al Jazeera English played. βDo you think the nation of Israel has committed war crimes?β
βNo I do not, senator. IΒβd want to look at the full context of the interview, but to answer your question, no,β Hagel said.
Cruz objected that the clip contained all the necessary context, then went on to say that “a suggestion that Israel has committed war crimes is particularly offensive, given that the Jewish people suffered under the most horrific war crimes in the Holocaust.”
“I would also suggest that for the secretary of defense or the prospective secretary of defense not to take issue with that claim is highly troubling.”
Next, Cruz went to a quote from a Senate floor speech Hagel gave in 2006 where he ”referred to Israel’s military campaign against the terrorist group Hezbollah as a, quote, ‘sickening slaughter.’”
Hagel again said he’d want the full context of the speech, which Slate noted was that “The sickening slaughter on both sides must end.”
Cruz then went to another clip from Al Jazeera program when a host read a reader email suggesting the U.S. had been as the world’s bully. Hagel didn’t refute the characterization, calling it a relevant observation, but told Cruz he didn’t say he agreed with it.
“To go on Al Jazeera, a foreign network broadcasting propaganda to nations that our hostile to us, and to explicitly agree with a characterization of the United States as the world’s bully, I would suggest is not the conduct one would expect of a secretary of defense,” Cruz said.

I to stand by the constitution so don’t assume all people that happen to believe in the constitution believe the stupid crap you do. I have worked many years in the automotive and now aerospace field and I don’t consider myself to be on the bottom of the bell curve but I question the intelligence of so called “Engineers” that sound like you!

What would you say if I could produce article/s that contend that claim that 6 million Jews were murdered before WW2? Would that make the official version of the Holocaust more or less believable?

Let me also ask this although not reportedly the exact same scenario but many similarities.. Say in Andersonville, GA POW camp for Yanks.. Yanks were starved to death.. Were the Rebels Holocausting the Yanks? If the War had gone on another year everyone in that camp would have starved to death. Was that a holocaust? lol
What about the POWs in the Russian Gulags who were treated much worse than the German POW.. Were they Holocausted?
Anyway back to the 6 million article.. You game or do you just want to keep believing that fairy tale?

You claim to have an article that we aren’t allowed to see? How indisputable. No really, how can I possibly dispute something you haven’t properly demonstrated?
As for your point regarding blacks at the country’s founding, the real history is that black slavery was contraversal even then. Ever here of the 3/5 compromise? What about the anti-slavery clause removed from the Declaration in which Jefferson, a slave owner himself, refered to the slave trade as “a war against human nature itself”. The slavery debate wasn’t something born in the 1840s, but rather goes all the way back to 1776 itself.
One final point. You claim that Jews were responsible for immigration reform decades but have provided no proof. If Jews had as much power as you claim, why are we giving fighter planes to the Muslim Brotherhood, an enemy of all Jews? Why do our leaders continuously push for Israel to make concessions? Wouldn’t aipac oppose those actions?
Besides, even if that were the case, you would still need to explain why Hagel voted for Iraq and endorsed Obama twice.

Israel is also one of the first to send disaster relief to other countries and have saved numerous lives so I’m pretty sure that there are a lot of people who can say first hand that Israel is significant.
