Gun Control Advocate to S.E. Cupp in June: Nobody Says We Have to Ban Guns Now: Limit the Availability...

MSNBC

Back in June, the president of the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence said on MSNBC, “nobody says we have to ban guns.”

Fast-forward seven months, when the Brady Campaign released a set of policy recommendations after the Newtown, Conn. massacre that specifically included a call to “limit the availability of military-style weapons.”

Brady Campaign President Dan Gross made that first comment during a heated exchange with TheBlaze’s S.E. Cupp on June 14, who had said: “After a big shooting like Gabby Giffords or Trayvon Martin, there is huge hysteria and paranoia about guns and ‘we have to ban guns.’”

“No! Nobody says we have to ban guns,” Gross replied. “Show me one word that’s ever come out of my mouth or the mouth of the Brady Campaign.”

That day apparently came Jan. 11, with the Brady Campaign’s policy recommendations to the White House.

“The obvious irony here is that when it comes to gun control it’s always the same, the message is always, ‘no one wants to take your guns away,’ the message is always, ‘the paranoid gun nuts are overreacting,’” Cupp told TheBlaze Friday. “Where are we? We’re talking about an assault weapons ban. Dianne Feinstein’s actually proposed one. It’s not like these things are imagined or happening in our heads. These are actual realities and it doesn’t even take that long to see them come to fruition. I mean, that clip was just last year.”

A representative from the Brady Campaign did not immediately return a request for comment.

The June appearance had been to discuss pending legislation in New York over gun micro-stamping, mandating tiny identifiable markings be engraved on shell casings.

Cupp said there’s a reason why gun owners “always seem very defensive” over such “seemingly innocuous legislation.”

“The things everyone considers quote-unquote ‘reasonable,’ this is all part of the slow creep into our rights as gun owners,” she said. “There are 20,000 laws on the books about guns, and this is a right that’s protected in the Constitution, so yeah, we’re on a hair-trigger, yeah we’re a little defensive.”

Well once again I sat through a video that was 90% liberal crap, to 10% common sense.

SE hit it on the head, as do many pro 2nd amendment folks do, the problem is they go on these liberal @-s-s shows, and are shouted over, talked down to, and not allowed to speak. So why waste the time?

We all know these dirt bags only invite true Americans on for two reasons, to try and make them look bad, and to improve their ratings because they know if they didn’t, no one would watch their garbage.

The United States Constitution is quite clear on our rights under the 2nd Amendment.

“A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.”

One does NOT need a law degree to understand those words and they do not need to be debated or interpreted by a Supreme Court.

We, the PEOPLE, are the militia and every one of U.S. American citizens has the GOD-given right to have firearms which enables U.S. to be the guardians against a tyrannical government. We now have a tyrannical government.

GOD Almighty, The 2nd Amendement, and those of U.S. who understand the importance of the Constitution, are the only things standing in the way of tyrants in this nation from making U.S. all slaves.

We did not elect people to go back to Washington, D.C. to take our GOD-given rights away but that is what they have done. They are following satan and not GOD.

For U.S. this is as much about religious freedom as anything. Once guns are gone will the “state” then tell U.S. what religion we will practice if any?

I choose to be a free man and worship GOD according to my own dictates.

No 2nd Amendment – No 1st Amendment or otherwise. Pretty simple concept.

They try to be cute and dance around the issues. They are infringing on our 2nd amendment rights. Slowly leading us into a police state with little rights. Read “The Pedestrian” read fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury. Watch “Minority Report”, “Gattaca”, “Equilibrium” and “1984″. This is fast becomming out future.

So if supporting gun rights is just paranoid extreme rhetoric why did our forefathers think the 2nd amendment was so important? Why did they word it the way they did?

2nd amendment “A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.”

We already live in a police state, my friend. You don’t have to read anymore books. Just look around. You no longer have any rights, you have permission, and they have two completely different definitions. I’m very sorry to be the one to tell you, but the constitution is now just a museum piece, and you are just a subject of the state.

I have rights and I exercise them daily. I don’t recall consulting any “law” or asking permission. You can put me in prison in chains from noes to toes, and I still am a free man with all of my rights, since rights cannot be taken away, only denied the exercise thereof.

The more we buy into the system, the more the system buys into us. Stop asking permission, stop looking up laws, stand up, be free men, and act as you will (within virtue). If you feel you’re a subject, you already are.

You guys are talking apples and oranges. Junter is talking about the details and Ghost is talking philosophy. Neither one of you are wrong, but Ghost, Junter is not advocating slavery or claiming servitude.

Ghost, by definition, in order to BE a society we must surrender some of those personal freedoms you are claiming are inalienable in order to have proper lines drawn between people. Otherwise you have anarchy and survival of the fittest. That’s the animal kingdom, not humans. However, even animals can set up hierarchy’s for the survival of their entire species.

The simple point is, we do have to have rules and order. Junter is correct in how those rules get broadened and muddied up in order to have a few gain control over the many. Ghost is right that at some point we must stand up for the exercise of our freedoms, but I would add “as long as it’s a tempered, measured response against the threat.” Jumping to violent means to get something done that didn’t require violence actually makes the ‘end’ unjust. My opinion there though.

Though the Second Amendment is the focus of the attack so far as the legislation is concerned, it isn’t the ‘final object’ being attacked. It’s our freedom of choice to defend ourselves and country against attack by a tyrannical junta.

The Second Amendment legislatively reinforces our God-given rights as human beings, just as the First guarantees our right to speak our mind whether right or wrong

I say bring it… you must think I’m just some schmuck with a gun on my hip. For someone that knows what they are doing, and is properly trained, open carrying is only dangerous to someone that tries to take my side arm. You are very much more aware of your surroundings. You can’t just walk up and take a side arm off of someone, most holsters have a release you have to push, by the time you figured out where that release is your mama would be picking out what suit to bury you in. Not trying to scare anyone, just making a point. Now, I do agree there are some people that open carry that probably could be an easy target. Most people though that do choose to open carry aren’t scared of confrontation, they aren’t looking for it, but are prepared for it. Anyone that has the balls to try and approach an open carrier and take their side arm.. well they get what’s coming to them. I, my friend, welcome you to try.

If you want to listen to and join in with gun control advocates (especially you women), well, that’s totally up to you…. but to be fair to the one who matters most in an attack situation, (YOU), I HIGHLY RECOMMEND that you listen to this actual 911 call from a woman on the phone with the dispatcher. She was armed (Thank God she was) and because of it, she is alive today to tell the story. Don’t allow yourself to be swooped up in the liberal socialist/communist progressive mindset of gun control that has a strong potential to leave you as a woman (or man) defenseless at the moment you may need it most. Notice how long it took for the intruder to get in the house and to her and the police had still not arrived. Common sense is a great defense. It’s good common sense to own a gun and get yourself trained in the safety and use of it. THINK…. put yourself in this woman’s position… where would you be today?

The smart criminals are always going to be one to several dozen steps ahead of the law. Usually it’s the dumb ones that we end up catching.

Your idea is actually fairly common, but it is just simpler to use a revolver or a gun with a brass catcher (or just police your brass).

The micro-stamping is part of the gun, not the cartridges. As I understand it, they wanted to manufacture the firing pin in such a way as to leave something lke a tiny 2D bar code on the primer.

Of course you don’t have to be much of a gun-smith to defeat that. What she said is more to the point: it’s not the responsibility of a citizen to prove he is innocent. And do you really think a criminal will use a firearm that can be traced to himself? How stupid can people be? (I know … we have some fine examples like ENCINOM, and Sensless-Meteors)

yesterday he was claiming anyone who ‘still thought they wanted to take away firearms’ was an imbecile…

i have to bite my tongue repeatedly, because he has his rabid followers who canot tolerate the slightest in presentation of alternative facts, but here is a clear counter to that point… like Cuomo… like Bloomberg… Emmanuel… that doofus lawmaker in Iowa… Bob Beckel… Feinstein… the list goes on.

In point of fact, they DO want to take away our weapons… ban production now, outlaw products that exist now in households, and outlaw the passage to children by inheritance, and in one, maybe two generations you have a defanged populace… ready slaves.

And EVERY one of those points is included in some way shape or form in Feinstein’s bill… so they DO want to take our guns, and the foolish half steps as this yutz suggested to S.E. are not tricking anyone…

it’s why the reaction has been so strong and prolonged… the local Cabela’s two days ago had barely half their normal supply of firearms and the ammo shelves were nearly bare.

At least S.E. isn’t a shirking violet who’d let this waste of air get away with his duplicity.

There is no room and no there should be no willingness to give up a god given right that is reinforced by the supreme law of the land. Just because some lunatic uses a gun to harm people does not mean we put all of our faith that the government can legislate us to safety. The constitution is a restraining order on the government plain and simple. If 1 inch is given to the gun control crowd you can bet a mile will be taken that is their nature. S. E, Cupp is right. To guarantee availability of guns to American citizens we should put cases of assault rifles in prison yards and common areas on mental institutions.

Squidvetohio, Almost everyone hates and deplores abortions. It only gets support from those who hold racial superiority and racial cleansing views. Those are right wing positions and familiar with many of the posters here.

Most liberals look at abortion like alcohol as something you can not outlaw. So instead it is permitted under very heavy regulation. It’s almost impossible for a doctor find a doctor to perform one. Some states have only one clinic where they are performed.

If instead the libertarians were in charge they would allow anyone with a coathanger to do them.

The Republicans continue to favor legislative morality, probably because of the mordita from those engaged in illegal activities. The Republicans love their crime and the money it brings them.

Rjjinggadsen Ann Coulter makes racist statements.

I would think most of the readers here would not think poorly of her for doing so.

There’s more races than the black and white races. How many has Ann Coulter dated?

That you even know anything about Ann Coulter’s dating life is creepy.

This is what you must know:

I’m passing out hand grenades – frags mostly – and old school M72s to all my radical liberal friends. They already have all the long guns and pistols they can store. Planting a bunch of surplus M18s too. You know, “shall not be infringed.” Focusing mostly on key rural transfer and escape routes, large water supply locations and white supremacist enclaves. Look for an invitation soon. Boy howdy, gonna be a hot time in the old town that night.

Good luck with them there M&P shooters. heh heh heh

      It is so.

Let me get this straight. I purchase ammo, micro stamped say for my .45. I’m at the range having a good day. My shell casings are everywhere. Someone else picks them up because he reloads the rounds. He shoots someone, I get blamed for it?

Actually, no, because he’d be replacing the primers which is what the microstamp would imprint on. But he could police his brass and leave some of yours at the scene.

Should I ever get a microstamped weapon, the first related purchase is a new firing pin.

Yes. That same situation could happen to a cop if they didn’t pick up every single piece of brass they dropped. Imagine is one of those ended up a crime scene.

They have also talked about having the barrel stamp the top of the rim of the cartridge.

Make sure you own a weapon that is common enough that you can find prefabricated replacement parts that cannot be tracked by the feds. Common weapons will also have a greater availability of ammunition or the means to manufacture your own ammunition.

You might want to get into the black market primer business before others get in on the action. Granted, I doubt that any of the foreign manufacturers will get behind this, or will be very happy to make “special” batches where the microstamp wasn’t added.

Of course, we could always realize that anyone with half a brain is going to be smart enough to police their brass and destroy the evidence that would link back to them, and the only people we’re going to catch are going to be the same ones we catch today. Again, why do people keep calling these “smart” measures? I’ve seen smarter ideas come from a kindergarten class.

This is the typical media over the last 5 or 6 decades, with a group of liberals in a feeding frenzy on one conservative. I’m sick of watching this happen. This is playing agame of poker with a crooked dealer and a stacked deck. There is no way win. I appreciate the courage to sit there and get battered, but I think it would be better to let them talk to themselves and go broke because their audience keeps shrinking. Conservatives need more of their own networks so they can confront liberals on an equal footing.

The left’s problem is, they say “We don’t want to ban guns” and what they mean is, we don’t want to ban all guns… they are perfectly happy with allowing nerf guns or paintball guns(for now).

Just remember the short time it took to go from “We don’t want to ban smoking. Be reasonable. we just want a little space of our own to not smoke.” to “If you light up in a public place, maybe even your own house, you’re going to the SLAMMER’”
