An armed guard successfully disarmed a 14-year-old shooter who had opened fire at an Atlanta middle school on Thursday. Thanks to the courageous off-duty school resource officer, only one student was shot and no one was killed.

Yet CNN host Piers Morgan on Friday argued that the armed guard, an unidentified off-duty Atlanta police officer, “was NOT able to stop” the Atlanta school shooting, apparently because the teen shooter was able to shoot just one student before he was stopped.

“REVEALED: Armed guard was NOT able to stop Atlanta school shooting,” Morgan posted via his official Twitter account. He then linked to a story with a headline that completely contradicted his questionable claim. “Armed guard disarmed teen in Atlanta school shooting, says police chief,” the headline read.

Morgan, a particularly vocal supporter of strict gun control in the U.S., has been against the National Rifle Association’s proposal of putting armed guards in schools across the country from the get-go. It seems that the CNN host was unwilling to admit that armed guards can — and did in this instance — prevent mass school shootings from occurring. There is no telling how tragic Thursday’s shooting could have been had that armed guard not been in the building.

Several Twitter users, including best-selling author Brad Thor, were quick to call out Morgan’s obvious bluff.

      The guard STOPPED the gunman from shooting the victim again and prevented the situation from becoming worse. What if the gunman had intent to hurt others? If so then plenty more were saved from becoming victims. Either way, the guard was there when they needed one.

      Now, now… look at the tone. It’s actually a victory. Look at the history:

      Piers Morgan Positions – Response to position
      1. Gun Control needed to stop mass shootings in schools – NRA says armed guards in schools will stop Mass Shootings in schools
      2. Mass Shootings are not stopped by Armed Citizens (mass shooting defined as 4 or more) – Several sources demonstrate many escalating shootings stopped at 3 or less by armed citizens thus stopping ‘mass shootings’
      3. Armed guard did not stop the shooting in Atlanta (because a child was shot) – Guard prevented shooting from becoming a mass shooting

      Notice the pattern, he is being proved wrong and backed down time after time, all the way back to his original point. Next he will be claiming that guns kill people without ever being fired at them – causing wars and conflict, pointing out the Gun Control debate and how deadly it ‘sounds’.

      Why we give this person any credibility at all is beyond me. He is a favorite to watch for entertainment value and a perfect example of how flawed analytical thinking can corrupt and destroy more than just the person.

      If only there had been an armed guard at Sandy Hook Elementary on that fateful morning. If only the school was not a “gun free zone” which implied there were no designated armed faculty. One shot could have taken down Adam Lanzo prior to gunning down ALL six faculty and 20 children who were sitting ducks for the evil that snuffed out their lives.

      What difference does it make whether the safety officer did or did not have a gun.

      In 2001 a California school security officer shot a high school student who was firing a shotgun in the school office.

      That’s stopping.

    only had to use to save a life,no mine, one time
    But now I have made a list of those people around me
    I know support the right to disarm us.
    If the time comes I have to use my gun again,to save one of them,
    I will have to stop and think ?

    for depriving them their right to dye.

    this school HAD metal detectors. and they had an armed guard.
