Piers Morgan Claims Armed Guard Was Not Able to Stop Atlanta School Shooting

An armed guard successfully disarmed a 14-year-old shooter who had opened fire at an Atlanta middle school on Thursday. Thanks to the courageous off-duty school resource officer, only one student was shot and no one was killed.

Yet CNN host Piers Morgan on Friday argued that the armed guard, an unidentified off-duty Atlanta police officer, “was NOT able to stop” the Atlanta school shooting, apparently because the teen shooter was able to shoot just one student before he was stopped.

“REVEALED: Armed guard was NOT able to stop Atlanta school shooting,” Morgan posted via his official Twitter account. He then linked to a story with a headline that completely contradicted his questionable claim. “Armed guard disarmed teen in Atlanta school shooting, says police chief,” the headline read.

Morgan, a particularly vocal supporter of strict gun control in the U.S., has been against the National Rifle Association’s proposal of putting armed guards in schools across the country from the get-go. It seems that the CNN host was unwilling to admit that armed guards can — and did in this instance — prevent mass school shootings from occurring. There is no telling how tragic Thursday’s shooting could have been had that armed guard not been in the building.

Several Twitter users, including best-selling author Brad Thor, were quick to call out Morgan’s obvious bluff.

If Piers Morgan had any common sense he would stop himself to. If the perp new that the school had a armed Guard he would not be there shooting people. He would have went to CNN and shot people. The point is the guard was able to stop casualties…this is about as rediculous as the authorities telling us to use anything at our disposal to defend ourselves…like a pair of scissors, or get under a desk. So are we supposed to throw the scissors at someone before they shoot us…fat chance!

School boards and governors across the country better get off their collective asses and take school security more seriously. Think about it, what’s the most heinous thing that a deranged person intent on ‘going down in flames’ can do? That’s right, find a school and blow away a bunch of innocent kids. It pretty-much guarantees maximum press coverage, heckuva way for a suicidal maniac to make a statement. As such, all schools represent a tempting target for the criminally insane. So why don’t they have better security? Most schools don’t even have a perimeter fence, let alone a competent armed guard.

Just a point. He is correct in saying the Guard did not stop the initial shot being fired, but he won’t admit that he stopped muti-shots from being fired.
It’s like saying “unsinkable” did not stop the Titanic from sinking.

I am grateful for Pierce Morgan’s idiotic rhetoric. He alone brought national attention to an incident that the main stream media was trying to bury. Any thinking individual can recognize that a bad guy with a gun was stopped by a good guy with a gun before it became a mass murder scene. “Bad guys” will not comply to any law which attempts to disarm them, what is in question, and what Morgan intends, is to disarm the good guys.
