10 of the Best Quotes from Slain SEAL Chris Kyle’s Book ‘American Sniper’
The shocking news that former SEAL sniper Chris Kyle was shot to death at a Texas gun range will likely reverberate for some time. And in honor of his life, we have included 10 of the best quotes from his incredible memoir, “American Sniper,” courtesy of Commonquote.com:
10. “To top things off, the Iraqis had sent some Scuds over just before the war started. Most had been taken care of by Patriot missiles, but one got through. Wouldn’t you know it took out the Starbucks where we’d hung out during our prewar training? That’s low, hitting a coffee place. It could have been worse, I guess. It could have been a Dunkin’ Donuts.”
9. “Isn’t religion supposed to teach tolerance?”
8. “At another location, we found barrels of chemical material that was intended for use as biochemical weapons. Everyone talks about there being no weapons of mass destruction in Iraq, but they seem to be referring to completed nuclear bombs, not the many deadly chemical weapons or precursors that Saddam had stockpiled.”
7. “I began teaching my son how to shoot when he was two, starting with the basics of a BB rifle. My theory is that kids get into trouble because of curiosity—if you don’t satisfy it, you’re asking for big problems. If you inform them and carefully instruct them on safety when they’re young, you avoid a lot of the trouble. My son has learned to respect weapons. I’ve always told him, if you want to use a gun, come get me. There’s nothing I like better than shooting.”
6. “The rules are drawn up by lawyers who are trying to protect the admirals and generals from the politicians; they’re not written by people who are worried about the guys on the ground getting shot.”
5. “I never really believed the Iraqis would turn the country into a truly functioning democracy, but I thought at one point that there was a chance. I don’t know that I believe that now. It’s a pretty corrupt place. But I didn’t risk my life to bring democracy to Iraq. I risked my life for my buddies, to protect my friends and fellow countrymen. I went to war for my country, not Iraq. My country sent me out there so that bullshit wouldn’t make its way back to our shores. I never once fought for the Iraqis. I could give a flying [fu**] about them.”
4. “People tell me I saved hundreds and hundreds of people. But I have to tell you: it’s not the people you saved that you remember. It’s the ones you couldn’t save. Those are the ones you talk about. Those are the faces and situations that stay with you forever.”
3. “Another question people ask a lot: Did it bother you killing so many people in Iraq? I tell them, “No.” And I mean it. The first time you shoot someone, you get a little nervous. You think, can I really shoot this guy? Is it really okay? But after you kill your enemy, you see it’s okay. You say, Great. You do it again. And again. You do it so the enemy won’t kill you or your countrymen. You do it until there’s no one left for you to kill. That’s what war is.”
2. “Just because war is hell doesn’t mean you can’t have a little fun.”
1. “I’ve lived the literal meaning of the ‘land of the free’ and ‘home of the brave.’ It’s not corny for me. I feel it in my heart. I feel it in my chest. Even at a ball game, when someone talks during the anthem or doesn’t take off his hat, it pisses me off. I’m not one to be quiet about it, either.”
In CONTROL, Glenn Beck presents a passionate, fact-based case for guns that reveals why gun control isn’t really about controlling guns at all; it’s about controlling us. Find out more HERE.

Posted on February 3, 2013 at 11:33amStill waiting for Obama to come on TV and tell us the country lost a great man today. (Like when he had all the flags lowered when Specter died.)
Still waiting…..
Guess I’ll go brew some coffee…
Guess I could probably grow the plant, roast it, grind it and then brew it…
Still waiting…

Posted on February 3, 2013 at 12:28pm@John 1776 Me too. I’m waiting for a hero’s funeral to be aired on every public station. This man was a true American Hero, who gave his life and time for his country and fellow citizens. May he rest in peace, and may God bless his family.
On that note, if the MSM can go on days after days to report about OJ, teenage Disney stars, Michael Jackson, and a bunch of other Hollywood nonsense, surely they can report and honor this man’s sacrifice. I encourage all to flood these news outlets with calls and emails. This man truly deserves better.

Yeah, its a shame that this man doesn’t realize that the government has been systematically enslaving the American people without them knowing it.
Ever since the creation of the Federal Reserve the people have been losing their freedoms decade by decade.
We are at constant wartime mobility, $16trillion in debt, have an aggressive police state, unconstitutional laws being passed without resistance(NDAA), massive illegal immigration through an open border, ONLY 2 contenders for the white house at any election(what a joke). And that’s just to name this decade.
And yet the American people still claim they are free. We are terrible delusional.

I pray that the Lord will hold you in the palm of His hand and will bless your lovely family, too.

Murder or Accident: Him & His friend were outgunned by a combat hardened Marine veteran, so it was a simple mistake of judgement. If they had been armed and in an area that allowed loaded firearms, this never would have happened.

Repeat it – it’s okay, ’cause here, he was just RE-setting an example. Silence is a requirement towards achieving political correctness. Speaking out is to correct the fallacy that is political correctness.
Thank you, Chris Kyle.

Posted on February 3, 2013 at 12:13amDon’t know this guy, haven’t read the book, but am touched by your tributes.
For what it’s worth, I wrote this (song actually) for Pat Tillman, don’t know if it’s appropriate or not, but think it might be.
To Pat Tillman
The bugle slowly dies away.
Like the cheering crowds before.
And what remains is memory,
And what you thought worth dying for.
You had everything we seek,
Money, accolades, and fame.
But you laid it all aside,
To serve your country was your pride.
You were never afraid.
Chorus:
And I will not be afraid!
I will stand and fight with you.
No retreat and no regrets.
Hold high the Red and White and Blue.
No surrender, no defeat,
Whatever price I have to pay.
Never quit and never run,
Till the Victory is done.
I will not be afraid.
Once we had a host like you,
Who would stand for what was right.
Never give an inch of ground,
Never turn back from the fight.
Now those like you are all too few,
For we refuse to stand the pain.
But you thought Freedom worth the price,
even though it cost your life.
You were never afraid.
Chorus:
And I will not be afraid…etc
You were right, and we were wrong,
And now your glory will not fade.
What we have must be preserved,
Whatever price we have to pay.
Your Victory now is for all time,
And I will not let it go.
Though you paid the final cost,
Nothing that you loved is lost.
I will not be afraid.

Posted on February 3, 2013 at 12:02amWe must remember the human cost of war. Chris Kyle was a rare person because he could handle the emotional toll and tell the world about his experience. Everyone deals with it differently. Being a sniper and not killing close range probably makes it a little easier. Obviously, he had friends who made it out but did not make the mental recovery. War is hell

Posted on February 3, 2013 at 8:57amSOY, What? Long range makes it easier, really? While watching the target through a powerful scope for a time puts the sniper really in an up close position to observe every expression on his face for a while to include the expression upon the millisecond of the the bullet strike. You may want to rethink your theory.

Warrior poem 16th century knight
Battle is a joyous thing. We love each other so much in battle. If we see that our cause is just and our kinsmen fight boldly, tears come to our eyes. A sweet joy rises in our hearts, in the feeling of our honest loyalty to each other; and seeing our friend so bravely exposing his body to danger in order to fulfill the commandment of our Creator, we resolve to go forward and die or live with him on account of love. This brings such delight that anyone who has not felt it cannot say how wonderful it is. Do you think someone who feels this is afraid of death? Not in the least! He is so strengthened, so delighted, that he does not know where he is. Truly, he fears nothing in the world.
