Armed 70-Year-Old Women’s Basketball Coach Shoots Attackers While Walking Two Players to Their Cars

A 70-year-old women’s high school basketball coach shot and killed one would-be mugger and injured another while walking two players to their cars Friday night in Detroit, WXYZ-TV reported.

Police said the coach, who has not been named, was approached by two teens who tried to rob him in the parking lot of Martin Luther King High School as he walked with two girls around 7:30 p.m, WDIV-TV reported. One of the attackers died and the other was taken to the hospital in serious condition.

Sources told WXYZ the coach was also a reserve police office with a license to carry a concealed pistol. One of the teens was also armed with a gun.

According to WDIV, both teens were students at the high school, though the one who died had recently been expelled.

  I am blown away by the anchor calling it “Unexplainable!” Is the media that far gone? I guess. The fact that the coach had CCL is the only reason he is not a chalk line on the pavement, and possibly the girls he was walking out as well.

  MOST news org’s will make the robbings teens as victims because of thier sad Detroit backgrounds. If the teacher had not been so quick to shoot we would have two teens alive to be shown the error of their ways and would have undergone therapy and training for a new job. Such as a school security gaurd because they have a prior history of gun knowledge. The teacher will be “expelled” instead of given the proper recognition he deserves. Sad to say, in this current environment he will be held accountable for his reaction. It’s too late folks. Soon they will come for your guns too.   This passes for TV news in Detroit? It was half justice the other one lived. A robber carrying a gun to rob intends to kill the innocent victims who resist. There is no other reason for the teen having the gun on him while he was out looking for his next victim. The other one may not have carried a gun but knew his partner did and fully intended to back his fellow murdering thug up. Death is all either deserve period. They are deranged beasts and animals roaming the streets in search for victims. No mercy no retreat is the only way to handle these criminals. The only tragic fact was one lived and will get out one day after being hardened by prison to do more of the same and even worse. The most criminal thing in civil society is laws keeping the law abiding living in fear unable to protect themselves. This serves merely to increase the number of jackals roaming the streets in search of innocent prey. If it is possible anything can be more criminal than these laws, it is prosecuting the victims who manage to defend themselves. The fact the woman telling the story on TV can call it “tragic” and “unexplainable” boggles the mind.

  I guess they thought they were “safe” to rob because we all know you are “safe” in a school zone..Any teacher that takes a course and gets a conceal permit should have their gun in every so-called “safe” school zone. The main place where licensed law-abiding citizens need to be armed are the “No Guns Allowed” places.

Wow – old or young, the people of America are getting armed and saying enough is enough. This woman is 70 and saved the tax payers money by getting rid of the low lifes. In Oct. of 2012 in Durant Oklahoma a 12 year old girl was home alone during fall break from school. A man starting ringing the door bell and kept knocking on the door. The girl called her mother and mom told her to get her Glock Semi-auto gun and hide in the hall bathroom closet. .While on the phone with 911 she heard the guy break in. Six minuits later she saw the door knob turn and she fired. The police arrested him out front with a stomach wound.

Unfortunately, the leftists in our media will proclaim this to be a racks attack, on two poor unfortunate “youths” who were merely participating in a self-appointed role of “redistribution of wealth”, that is so excused when this particular demographic commits armed predation upon society.
We need much more of this kind of an outcome, to teach and positively reinforce to these socio-economically disenfranchised “youths” , that committing violent acts against people while approved by the Black Congressional Caucus and this current President, STILL is against the .as, and very hazardous to one’s health. So it’s okay to have a gun on a school campus if you’re a former cop and use it heroically?

I was under the impression that the gun free school zone act had no protection for discharging firearms. Only protecting a select few to merely carry them (cops, security, etc)

  He/She is a “reserve” officer. Police officers, in general, are exempt from the rules of banned weapons in schools or other designated “no weapon” areas.

  In Detroit I would imagine the high school yutes are between 21 and 30. It takes them that long to get through the public school system. So I am sure it was a legally purchased firearm purchased from an FFL Dealer and a complete Universal Background check was run. I just hope the young man did not violate the 7 shot clip rule or his dead butt will be charged with violating Holder policy.
  This could be a teaching moment in the Detroit schools Monday. They should remind all the yutes that their schools are gun free zones and these were misguided young men who made a mistake.
  After the investigation it was found they were NRA members and no yutes should join such a bad organization. If they had been upstanding members of the local chapter of Ofurhers Muslim Brotherhood club this would have never happened.

Thus, I see no problem with people carrying their guns when the very act telling them not to is unconstitutional to begin with. Good for the coach to have the guts to defend kids from lowlifes.Too bad someone had to die but it was their own choice to do so by choosing to attack another human being.   I hope my eyesight and trigger finger as good as this guy’s when I’m 70….I heard he had a great grouping also.
