Wayne LaPierre: Obama Trying to Take Away Rifles, Shotguns & Handguns and Create a Universal Gun Registry
National Rifle Association’s executive vice president Wayne LaPierre on Sunday said the Obama administration is trying to take away rifles, shotguns and handguns and create a universal registry of gun owners
“During the campaign when [Obama] said to people, ‘I will not take away your rifle, shotgun, handgun,’” LaPierre said on “Fox News Sunday. “They leafleted the country with flyers, ‘Obama’s not going to take your gun,’ ‘Obama will protect gun rights’ and now he’s trying to take away all three.”
Host Chris Wallace said, “He’s not taking away shotguns.”
“Have you looked at the Feinstein bill that he’s supporting?” LaPierre said. “That’s exactly what it does. I think what they’ll do is they’ll turn this universal check on the law-abiding into a universal registry of law-abiding people.”
Wallace said there is “no indication” whatsoever that the White House wants those things.
“Forgive me sir but you take something that is here and you say it is going to go all the way over there,” Wallace said. “There is no indication…there is nothing that anyone in the administration has said that indicates they’re going to have a universal registry.”
“And Obamacare wasn’t a tax until they needed it to be a tax — ” LaPierre said.
” — it was the Supreme Court that said it,” Wallace said.
“I don’t think you can trust these people,” LaPierre said.
LaPierre testified on Capitol Hill last week in strong opposition to background checks. He repeated his criticisms Sunday, saying universal checks would amount to a bureaucratic nightmare that would “affect only the law-abiding people. Criminals could care less.”

Posted on February 3, 2013 at 1:40pmIt was a good interview.
Some people may give Chris Wallace a hard time over it, but that’s his JOB and tough interviews give people to respond to tough questions. Lapierre stood up and answered them.
Compare and contrast with “60 Minutes” love-fest with Obama and Hillary. NOBODY in that room came across looking good.

We now have enough for each family member to have

friends and neighbors.
I was given new orders to use extra cash on
more ammo and food.
I love it when a plan comes together.
New sign on front door reads

He couldn’t have possibly read any of the proposed gun control legislation and then proceed to say something as moronic as there is no indication anyone wants to take away any guns. It is quite clear that Feinsteins bill would eliminate semi-auto shotguns.Wallace acted like he didn’t know this by saying it wasn’t so till La Pierre asked him if he had seen Feinstein’s bill. I was also quite obvious that Wallace is not 2nd Amendment supporter. He line of questioning certainly would lead you to believe he won’t be happy till no one can be killed with a firearm anywhere. A national background check and registry is not what is supported. National registrations always lead to government ability for confiscation.
The basic example is “interpitation” of rules for government gain. What happened to Roy Rogers horse trigger being given to his son, OH government confiscation. Now imagine passing grandpa’s fire arm to you kid, first the government wil study your kid and “determine” whether the right is “ok” for them to have.

While President Obama argues that lack of health insurance is a big problem in the U.S., no study has ever suggested that lack of health insurance contributes to more than 50,000 deaths in the U.S. each year. In contrast, Obama’s own Department of Health and Human Services reported in 2010 that 180,000 Medicare patients die each year as a result of medical errors. In addition, the report found 1.6 million were harmed by medical errors each year. However, more recent research suggests the 180,000 deaths per year may be a gross underestimate and Medicaid patients may receive even lower quality care.

But it’s ok for Mark Kelly to say that a girl wouldn’t had died had Loughner only had a 10 shot clip. Tha’ts pure speculation. Hence the need to counter that by speculating how many lives might be saved by guns. Kinda like how many jobs were “saved “by the stimulus. What’s good for the goose…Get it?

Wallace hit it on the nose with his line: “Forgive me sir but you take something that is here and you say it is going to go all the way over there.” This is what Cons have been doing for the past 4 years, losing their heads over what they think is going to happen somewhere down the road based off of some crackpot theory they read in the Internet. If Obama were to propose a bill to raise funding for a cure for childhood leukemia, two minutes later some fearless “patriot” would already have decided it was really some plot to take people’s kids away from them and turn them gay. Cons have decide en masse to cease living in a fact-based world, and to instead wallow in a world of their own making, one of fear, conjecture, innuendo, racism and embarrassingly ridiculous conspiracy theories. (It was on this very site where I learned–thanks to the mental giants who post here–that an earthquake in Mexico was an attempt by Obama–using secret weapons to create the earthquake–to kill his daughter so that he would get sympathy votes in the election.) Happily for me, and sadly for you, the real world will not conform to your fictitious one, evidenced by the loss of a Presidential election that most on the Right were absolutely convince they could not lose.

Posted on February 3, 2013 at 3:23pmVance, you seem to have a seriously lacking knowledge of history when it comes to firearms. The DiFI has repeatedly said that if she could confiscate all of the guns in America, she would. The Democrats have repeatedly violated the Firearms Owner Protection Act of 1986 when it comes to trying to establish an unlawful national firearms registry and been called onto the carpet for trying to do so in violation of the law. Obamao has signed an Executive order requiring gun dealers to report multiple rifle sales despite congressional legislation to the contrary. DiFi has stated that the goal of the law is to prevent not only more guns to become available, but also to prevent current owners from transferring their weapons to anyone else, including their heirs upon death. How is that NOT confiscation? The DiFi law is unconstitutional. It is also a violation of EVERY Supreme Court decision concerning the Second Amendment to date. It absolutely violates the decision in Hughes v. US wherein the court ruled that the only reason that the government could ban sawed off shotguns was because the shotguns were not of particular use to a militia. Modern semi automatic rifles with large capacity magazines may not be as good as selective fire ones, they are certainly suitable for militia use and are therefore protected under both the Second Amendment and the Militia Efficiency act of 1902.

The quicker the NRA admits this and finds a more sophisticated spokesman the better. Wallace tried several times to give him the opportunity to not repeat the rambling, illogical performance he gave at the congressional hearing and Lapierre instead forayed deeper into paranoid conspiracies. We can now add the Justices on the Court to his list of accused conspirators against the 2nd Amendment. That list already includes a popular (twice-elected with majorities) President, the media/press who buy ink by the barrel, the majority of Americans as judged by overwhelming polling numbers regarding background checks and semi-auto regulations, and his membership who overwhelmingly approve of the background checks he despises. Feinstein won’t pass, and he will claim that a victory. Meanwhile the political power and populist reputation of the NRA is eroding quickly, and it is increasingly met with the newly enthused and growing political power of gun regulators. Blame the media or Mr. Bloomberg or any number of mass-shooters, but LaPierre’s mouth provides them more fuel than the mayor’s millions or 3 column headlines.

I’m sure Mr. LaPierre isn’t interested in my permission or that of any other NRA member. After all, as you say, his membership roster is increasing daily. But what will he say to Congressmen and Senators when they tell him that, for the first time ever, thanks to his wreckless remarks, an NRA endorsement costs them two voters for every one they gain?

Posted on February 3, 2013 at 12:55pmWashington currently has strong background check requirements in place. It’s already a federal felony for any private person to sell, trade, give, lend, rent or transfer a gun to a person they know or should have known is not legally allowed to own, purchase or possess a firearm. It should be noted that every year, tens of thousands of people fail to pass the background checks required for firearm purchases, yet only a fraction are prosecuted for providing false information. Before lawmakers begin creating more onerous rules and regulations, they should start enforcing the laws that are currently on the books.
Those who urge passage of so-called “universal background checks” fail to grasp the fundamental truth that this will only affect law-abiding citizens and not criminals. Criminals do not obey the law in the first place.

Posted on February 3, 2013 at 2:21pmDemocrats have three solutions for every problem: One , throw tax payers’ money at the problem ; two, pass new laws to prohibit the problem ; and three, do both . Democrats always avoid the real solution which is ENFORCEMENT of the laws on the books . Why ? Because Democrats scream ” discrimination ” whenever the laws are enforced and because the Democrat Party has made a Media career out of playing the Discrimination Card.

Posted on February 3, 2013 at 12:51pmWatching Wayne LaPierre on Fox News Sunday this morning. Can’t the NRA find another spokesman with better communication skills? After 22 years its time to get a spokesman who presents himself and our second amendment point of view in a calm, sensible way that people can understand and accept. He always comes off bad and is hurting the NRA. Please have him step aside and get a confident man or woman who comes off as a happy warrior. He’s always on defense and looks guilty as hell defending the NRA. It pains me to watch him on TV. He’s hurting the good work of the NRA. I’m sure he’s a good man but he shouldn’t be on TV. Apparently nobody else wants the job. Is everyone there afraid to tell him how bad he comes off on TV. For the good of the NRA hire a PR firm and find another spokesperson.

You are right. It’s not up for a vote. But Congressional seats are, Senate seats, Govenor’s and statehouses. Politicians read polls. While it won’t make a fleas difference in the politics of deeply red districts and solid Republican states, it’s going to get tougher to get candidates in competitive districts and purple states to stand with the NRA and Mr. LaPierre. Conservatives used to have a large chunk of political power in the Northeast. Today? Almost none. Voters overwhelmingly supported a shift to the left on social policies. Northeastern conservatives refused to shift, and, while they couldn’t vote on the policies, voters could vote on the policy-makers, and they threw them all out. Saying it’s a republic and not a democracy may be accurate, but it does not mean public opinion does not matter. In a republic, the people choose the policy-makers, not the policy. But they vote for the candidate’s policies. When they don’t reasonably correspond with constituents, they get defeated. The NRA will continue to drive the train in Alabama and Oklahoma, but let’s see how many candidates in Colorado, Virginia, Florida and Ohio are campaigning in front of NRA banners in 2014 and 2016. Their used to be Republicans from the northeast, but now those states are reliably blue. Care to make the same mistakes twice?

Maybe so, right up to the point where they learn that those same b-checks name the gun and serial # of the gun purchased with that b-check and figure out it is in itself IS a National gun registry. Then they remember history when Hitler had all of the Jews register all of their firearms in preparation of the big gun confiscation in Germany…..and then…..the……….

An overwhelming number of non-firearm owners support background checks because they have no idea what FACTS are because, like you, they have been swimming in a sea of opinionated lies being glossed over as truth for so long….
Tightening restrictions on Law-Abiding Citizens affects criminals how? Please, explain this to me…How do ANY of the things outlined in The Feinstein initiative affect criminals in any way, shape or form? Have you actually read this Bill? Do you actually know anything about firearms that DIDN’T come from Media?

Posted on February 3, 2013 at 12:33pmWhatever you do… do not trust any government and especially the Obama administration. Most of all, do NOT ever register your guns as this has always resulted in having them taken away. (I know, some states they are registered when you buy them but don’t ever give the feds any information) Some years ago California said… as long as you register this certain rifle before a specific date you can keep it. A year later they changed their minds and they went after the owners and took them.

Stop sounding like an idiot. What is YOUR hobby? I want to demonize YOUR hobby and take it away. The weapons they want to ban are NOT assault weapons. They are not machine guns and are simply semi-auto rifles and YES people go game hunting with them. There are over 80 million gun owners in the USA and over 99.9999999999% do not misuse their weapons. We gun owners have no problem with background checks as we too, do not want guns in the hands of criminals.
NOW, lets work on something that will work and that is putting the criminals and gang member away for longer times. If you find a felon with a gun, put them away for life.
Stop punishing law abiding citizens. Again, what is YOUR hobby?
