John McCain Called ‘Racist’ After Cracking Ahmadinejad ‘Monkey’ Joke: ‘This Is What Passes for a Serious GOP U.S. Senator These Days’

Senator John McCain (R-AZ) is under fire on Twitter for being one of many to mock Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s claim that he wants to be the first Iranian to reach outer space.
The news follows Iran’s declaration that they successfully launched a monkey into orbit. There’s still some confusion as to whether they actually did it, but the Iranians are sticking to their story despite expert testimony that two different monkeys are seen in the “before” and “after” photos).
Regardless, John McCain joked:
So Ahmadinejad wants to be first Iranian in space – wasn’t he just there last week? “Iran launches monkey into space” news.yahoo.com/iran-launches-…
— John McCain (@SenJohnMcCain) February 4, 2013
The backlash was swift, with at least one other member of Congress joining in the criticism of McCain’s tweet (content warning):

When McCain later added, “Re: Iran space tweet – lighten up folks, can’t everyone take a joke?” Representative Justin Amash (R-MI) didn’t seem able to let it go.
Maybe you should wisen up & not make racist jokes. “@senjohnmccain: Re: Iran space tweet – lighten up folks, can’t everyone take a joke?”
— Justin Amash (@repjustinamash) February 4, 2013
Amash is reportedly of Palestinian descent.

Posted on February 4, 2013 at 3:15pmTHINK! This is not about ‘racist’ or ‘non-racist’ or whether you like McCain or hate him. THIS IS about the start of the full out war to disband the GOP as OUTLINED BY OBAMA!
You are going to see full destruction of Republican Officials along with their families within the next few months. And the onslaught is going to be so laser directed for the reason that when one Republican fights and looses – three will simply say it’s not worth loosing their family over, and resign. WATCH. It’s going to happen!
Do NOT take any White House story at face value. There IS agenda behind each action the Oby Admin. takes. They are RELYING on you to be “sheep” and barely read any story let alone “think” about it’s content!

Posted on February 5, 2013 at 10:49pmI agree American_Made. McCain and Obama do not differ when it comes to ideology. One is a progressive clothed as a Republican on a cuise down the road toward Socialism. The other is a Marxist deceptively disguised as a liberal Democrat racing down the freeway with the pedal to metal attempting to reach Socialist/Marxist finish line by 2016. However … McCain’s comment did cause me to chuckle.

Posted on February 4, 2013 at 1:58pmYes, by all means, excoriate McCain over a comment referencing AN ACTUAL MONKEY Iran has been parading about, and the ridiculous behavior of their president.
that must be racial.
but ignore the PEDOPHILIA of Menendez… of if they were ‘of age’ ignore the abuse of young women Menedez spent 15% of his annual salary to go visit…
Gloria wants Texans to ‘diselect’ Perry but won’t stand up and say anything against Menendez? Who’s the biased bigot, now? Who won’t even stand for her stated principles when the choice is obvious?
PC is ridiculous in the first place… substitute these words meaning the same thing for this word we consider racist. But the way it’s wielded as a weapon, against only those the establishment opposes vs. every person equally… it’s a hypocritical excuse to avoid discussing real issues.
