A tweet referring to slain ex-SEAL Chris Kyle from the verified account of former Congressman Ron Paul is causing some serious commotion:
Chris Kyle’s death seems to confirm that “he who lives by the sword dies by the sword.” Treating PTSD at a firing range doesn’t make sense
— Ron Paul (@RonPaul) February 4, 2013
The reaction to Paul’s comments from conservatives on Twitter has been both swift and furious:
Ron Paul might want to ask Jesse Ventura what happened last time he ridiculed a dead SEAL.
— Lachlan Markay (@lachlan) February 4, 2013

You really are vile. RT @ronpaul: Chris Kyle’s death seems to confirm that “he who lives by the sword dies by the sword.”
— Rick Wilson (@TheRickWilson) February 4, 2013
I’d say @repjustinamash just lucked out. His pal @ronpaul is going to take alllll the heat this afternoon.
— Gabriel Malor (@gabrielmalor) February 4, 2013
Amash’s attacking McCain for joking abt an Iranian dictator and Ron Paul is saying that Kyle’s murder was deserved. Good day for GOP so far!
— Sonny Bunch (@SonnyBunch) February 4, 2013
But, of course, here’s something to keep in mind:
Does @ronpaul run his own Twitter account? Might be a staffer screw up. . .
— Charlie Spiering (@charliespiering) February 4, 2013
Lastly, if you’re wondering about the references to Rep. Justin Amash (R-Mich.), the Michigan congressman on Monday accused Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) of being a racist because the former GOP presidential candidate jokingly implied that Iranian despot Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is a monkey.
UPDATE: It’s looking more and more certain that Ron Paul did, in fact, tweet about Kyle’s death and “dying by the sword.”
“He runs it,” Campaign for Liberty communications director Megan Stiles said of the former congressman’s twitter account, according to BuzzFeed.
The Campaign for Liberty handles all of Paul’s press requests.
“She clarified that Paul started handling his own tweets ‘since he left office,’” the report adds.
UPDATE II: Posting to his Facebook wall, Paul builds on his earlier remarks:
As a veteran, I certainly recognize that this weekend’s violence and killing of Chris Kyle were a tragic and sad event. My condolences and prayers go out to Mr. Kyle’s family. Unconstitutional and unnecessary wars have endless unintended consequences. A policy of non-violence, as Christ preached, would have prevented this and similar tragedies. -REP
Meanwhile, Paul’s son, Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.), has seemingly backed away from his father’s controversial comments.
“Chris Kyle was a hero like all Americans who don the uniform to defend our country. Our prayers are with his family during this tragic time,” the senator from Kentucky said in a statement obtained by Breitbart News.

Feb. 4, 2013 at 8:54pmPURAVIDA56 : Once again he was right ? Right about what ? That treating PTSD at a Range is wrong ? I would probably agree with that. But to throw out a short “Tweet” that sounds like the former SEAL deserved what he got can hardly be called right no matter how you spin it. Birds Tweet. People should not when it comes to the subject of Murder. RP might have meant well, but the way he went about it was stupid and disrespectful. This SEAL was as close to a Demigod as one can be.
I’ve learned over my life that 99% of Politicians are Liars and Cheats. The other 1% just haven’t got that far YET.

Feb. 4, 2013 at 8:04pmFor anyone to comment on such a tender subject by Twitter, Tweet, Text or any other similar means is idiotic. RP opened himself up to a Firestorm, no matter if he meant no harm or not.
And for all those who think this just ruined Rands chance for a 2016 run……….It didn’t matter anyway. By the time this Communist Bastard ( Ovomit ) finishes his second rain of Terror, nothing will be left for anyone in 2016.

Feb. 4, 2013 at 7:46pmThat response is rather stupid really. This was a soldier that followed orders. The war was not his fault not his choice.
It was POLITICIAN’S that made the choice. Politicians like Paul. So had this happened to Bush or Obama or some other politician, would he say the same thing? Unintended consequences my a$$.
Any respect I might have had for him just disintegrated. Wrong time and wrong target for those comments. Pure stupidity.

Feb. 4, 2013 at 7:44pmI find it interesting that all these progressives are now trying to claim someone that uses biblical quotes is some how a good person. I don’t think it is possible for them to completely understand humanity. Words are meaningless. Actions and intent show to the world what kind of person you are. Just because someone quotes scripture on a regular basis does not make them a Christian. In fact, for me I tend to look at those types of people as bible thumpers. Again your deed show what type of a person that you are not words. Ron Paul is just showing his true colors (he is a politician at heart) along with all of the other trolls on the Blaze.Any of the people that are condemning or criticizing Chris for his actions should read his book, listen to his interviews and his quotes. He struggled with the transition and somehow figured it out. He was using the best tool that he knew to help our veterans to reintegrate with a civilized society. He was connecting with fellow soldiers in need using what they had in common. Our soldier are expected to transition from a weapon directly to words when they step back on our soil. Most of us, me included, will never comprehend that transition. I believe that we lost a great American hero on Sunday. Not just for what he did on the battlefield, but mostly what he did for his fellow soldiers.
My deepest sympathy goes out to his wife and children. I am truly sorry for their loss.

What a senile idiot McCain is–he is clearly incompetent to be voting on public policy since he is patently completely ignorant of Iranian politics which he ironically SO loves to comment on. Ahmadinejad is not a despot–he’s a puppet. He has no power outside that which he enjoys at the graces of the Supreme Ayatollah, who can override anything Ahmadinejad does at will. The reactionary ultraconservative fascist clerics are the REAL power in Iran.

Feb. 4, 2013 at 7:29pmHere is what I do not grasp: What about Ron Paul’s statement is negative? Or positive for that matter? I’m a former Marine. I was in Iraq. I could have been killed there. I could be killed here just as easily. There is truth to Mr. Paul’s statement, and those of us who have been in the military should have an intimate understanding of that statement. He who lives by the sword most certainly runs the risk of dying by the sword. That is a given. Mr. Paul then goes on to state that he treating PTSD at a firing range doesn’t make sense to him. To be honest, it doesn’t make sense to me either. I think Chris was trying to help his fellow military members in the best way he knew how, and died believing he could make a difference in some people’s lives. It is a tragedy all the way around. Someone please give me a real reason for the negative comments… as intelligent as I am, I just don’t get it.

Weak on defense, no idea of national Denfse or Security. Wars are nor pretty but we have to fight them or we will be like Somalia or worse. What would his answer be if this had been a home owner defending their 2nd amendment rights?? Hes not clear cut enough for me.

Feb. 4, 2013 at 7:18pmIf in fact the Vet who killed those two men has PTSD, I can cut him a little slack. As to Paul, he is either senile or an insensitive SOB. No surprise if the latter is true. Our government is filled with people who are in different stages of dementia. I refer to such comments as: We don’t have a spending problem, or we need new taxes, or Social Security and Medicare aren’t under funded,
or Unemployment is good for economic growth, and on and on and on.

And since Beck is filling his pockets by kow-towing to these Jews, at the expense of America, he would naturally latch onto this story and attempt to demonize the great patriot, Ron Paul.

Feb. 4, 2013 at 7:12pmThat was not only totally inappropriate, but validates we have a lot of folk, including Ron Paul, who think serving in government is a way to make a living, rather than serving the public, serving your country, contributing to the common good for a few years like George Washington, then move on to greater things, that free the creativity they bottled up serving others?
You don’t view your brother in arms as a heartbeat away from pulling a gun on you and shooting you? We don’t know how or why these men let their guard down, obviously they trusted this individual who basically comitted an act of treason?
In case you have not noticed Mr. Ron Paul, US soldiers don’t make a their living invading foreign countries, looting the country side, raping their women, and then asking the clergy to forgive them when they brutally rape their own five year old daughters?
If Mexican drug lords put snitches in a pile of rubber tires, according to American film makers, fill them with gasoline, and light them on fire, you can only imagine what some people would do to some one that raped their own five year old little girl if you gave them the reigns of justice?
Those who live by ignorance, will die by it?
