Ann Coulter Delivers Dire Gun Warning: Universal Background Checks Could Lead to ‘Universal Confiscation, Universal Extermination’ of Firearms

Commentator Ann Coulter appeared on “Hannity” last night, issuing a dire warning to the American people about universal background checks, a provision currently being touted by gun control advocates. Rather than embracing the proposal, Coulter warned that it could lead to “universal confiscation” and, ultimately, “universal extermination” of firearms.
After speaking briefly with host Sean Hannity about the much-discussed photograph of President Barack Obama skeet shooting, the columnist noted that the president misses the point on the Second Amendment (i.e. the purpose of the constitutional right isn’t so citizens can go skeet shooting; it allows Americans to protect themselves).
“I’m waiting for photos of him taking birth control pills to show him fighting the war on women,” Coulter quipped.
On the gun control front, she gave a passionate speech about how the real problem is mental illness, accusing the left of skirting that issue and embracing firearms control measures that may do little to actually solve the problem. Of particular note, she focused upon universal background checks, launching into claims that implementing them would be potentially-dangerous for Second Amendment rights. Here’s what she said:
“The problem with universal background checks is, we basically have universal background checks now. Any licensed gun dealer is performing a background check. The buyer may not know, someone at a gun show may not know, but if you’re walking through a gun show, everybody’s doing background checks. The only people who are not subjected to a background checks are collectors giving guns to their sons or they’re selling one to their brother-in-law or something. The only way to enforce universal — the last .1 percent of guns that are transferred by collectors and so on — is to have universal gun registration.”
It is here that Coulter noted that U.S. citizens could fall victim to a slippery slope of gun control regulations, inevitably culminating in a loss of the right to bear arms.
“Universal background check means universal registration. Universal registration means universal confiscation, universal extermination,” she continued. “That’s how it goes in history. Do not fall for universal background checks.”
Coulter also went on to lambaste the notion that a gun in the home “is more likely to be used against the owner than to kill an intruder,” something that is sometimes touted by those seeking greater gun restrictions.
“This is a lie they are telling you in order to prevent Americans from self-defense, from protecting themselves so that only the government has a monopoly on guns,” she said of other claims against guns being perpetuated in media.

Posted on February 5, 2013 at 4:53pmObama, on his 5th year of campaigning, leads me to believe he’ll change the laws so he can be elected for a 3rd term as long as the entitlement babies still support a check rather than a job! The problems are the Democrats, Liberals, Marxist, Communists, Obama’s entire administration not guns!

Posted on February 5, 2013 at 4:35pmHow about a universal background check on Obama – he he controls nuclear weapons. We should know his place of birth, his passport travel details, see his college applications, question his social security number, check out his draft card and know what he did in Pakistan & Indonesia.

Posted on February 5, 2013 at 3:43pmCoulter mentions this as an aside, but it’s worth stressing that a great deal of crime is stopped before it starts because the assailant fears that the potential “victim” may be armed.
Axelrod this morning asserted that Chicago’s “gun problem” stems from “all the guns being brought in from outside Chicago.” Pat & Stu note that, ipso facto, all these dangerous guns in the suburbs must mean that the population in the suburbs must be all dead from shootings.
The problems with “gun violence” in inner cities like New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Boston . . . is that these cities have unworkable gun restrictions, out of control CRIME and CRIMINALS, and the law abiding citizens are forbidden the means to self defense — Criminals don’t pick victims who may be armed.

Posted on February 5, 2013 at 3:16pmSANDW, I responded at 10:00am to GOLDOXIDE’s 9:26am post, and I took the same line of argument you did in your 1:44pm response to him: that I believe that at least the vast majority of the military/National Guard/civilian law-enforcement will NOT obey orders from Obama to turn on the American people.
But regarding Obama using those in government agencies to forcibly disarm the American people or commit other outrages against them on his order:
while it is true that many government agencies DO have internal armed security forces, those forces are a VERY small percentage of the total workforce of these agencies. Make no mistake about it, the vast majority of the workforce of agencies like Social Security, IRS, EPA, TSA, DHS, Dept. of Education, etc. are PAPER PUSHERS who will soil themselves at even the THOUGHT of a gun.
Remember something ELSE: a substantial percentage of the workforce of any government agency is FEMALE. If Obama TRIED to arm these people to turn them loose on an aroused and defiant and ARMED American populace, I think a LOT of government agencies would VERY quickly become buildings full of empty cubicles – and NOT because they’d be out in the field doing such dirtywork, either. It’s because they’d KNOW that for many of them, Obama was sending them out on a suicide mission – and while they may like their government paychecks, they like their LIVES even MORE and will NOT sacrifice them for HIS glorification.

Posted on February 5, 2013 at 3:15pmAnn Coulter is spot on correct. In case you were not taught the early history of Nazi Germany at your Government School, you might want to review how the Nazi’s took over. The steps they took are EXACTLY the steps Obama is taking. I will not Comply.

Posted on February 5, 2013 at 2:48pmThe 2nd Amendment isn’t to provide for hunting or sport; it allows Americans to protect themselves and thereby protect our Republic.
Correction…It could lead to “universal confiscation” and, ultimately, “universal extermination” of firearms. No, it could result in universal extermination of people. That is the historical perspective.

It is difficult to understand WHY she is a Chris Christy fan when is ALL FOR GUN CONTROL – of every strip including universal gun registration. Chris Christy is the BIGGEST RINO in the GOP herd. He is worse than Romney and McCain put together – THAT – my friends – is BAD.

Posted on February 5, 2013 at 2:09pmShe’s right on, however, be careful what you wish for. You know that Communist Obama will turn the metal health argument into painting every gun owner, every constitutional defender, every law abiding person into a crazy person. He’s bumping us from one issue to the other so that we trap ourselves with our own reasoning. Barry and his Communist crew define every thing; “assault weapons”, crazy people, PST Vets, religious zealots, Republicans = extreme right wing nuts and so on. Dish it back.

Posted on February 5, 2013 at 1:51pmThat’s exactly the end result that ‘lil berry’ and his minions are counting on to occur. Hitler made the same remark in 1936 to the effect, ‘now that we have all weapons registered the rest of the world will follow’. After making the statement, all weapons were confiscated.

Posted on February 5, 2013 at 1:44pmGOLDOXIDE – I don’t think the confiscation will come via the Army or any branch of the millitary because they have a greater honor for the Constitution, liberty, personal freedom, etc. than this Commander in Chief and most will not follow the orders. The “attack” will come from the EPA, SS, and other government agencies. All these groups now have internal armed “security” forces and they have purchased tens of thousands of weapons and hundreds of millions of rounds of ammo. They loyaties lie with their government paycheck and not the Constitution.

Posted on February 5, 2013 at 1:37pmthe last biggie the progressive pukes did on this scale was prohibition. At least the, they passed an amendment. How’d that work out? Everybody drank, the gv’t didn’t get its taxes, and crime and violence from criminals went through the roof.
So, the progressive puke want zero guns. Get it? that is the end game for them. So, what will be the biggest, most lucrative money-making criminal activity then? Drugs? – no. Guns and ammo.
The 2nd amendment is there to protect against exactly what these (I repeat) progressive pukes are doing RIGHT NOW.
We have a faux fay “king” acting as some sort of president… and his minions are trying to make all of us bow before the gov’t.
