Jon Favreau, the speechwriter described by President Obama as his “mind reader” and one of the youngest chief presidential speechwriters in recent memory, will be leaving the White House next month to work as a screenwriter.
The Washington Post reports:
We confirmed, via our colleague Chris Cillizza, who got it from a senior White House official, a Los Angeles Times report Tuesday that Favreau is leaving his job March 1, maybe to do some screenwriting, though he’ll be staying in the D.C. area.
We wrote back Dec. 4 that the White House buzz was that Favreau was heading out soon, likely after the inauguration. Then in January, we reported that his deputy, Cody Keenan, one of the original team of Obama speechwriters, was likely to succeed him, which is the case.
Keenan, the Times reported, is taking the lead in writing the State of the Union address Obama is to deliver next week.[...]
Even in the “no drama Obama” White House, Favreau became something of celebrity in town, being named by People one of the world’s most beautiful people. Didn’t hurt that he also dated actress Rashida Jones, the daughter of Quincy Jones and Peggy Lipton.
While there was that shirtless beer pong incident in a Georgetown bar in 2010 and a long profile in GQ in June 2011, Favreau’s seemed a bit more low-key of late.
So with the man who crafted “Yes, we can” leaving the White House, what will the President’s speeches end up sounding like? Time will tell.

Feb. 6, 2013 at 9:39amSAFF SGT posted at 8:29pm last night about Favreau’s departure; “smart move Obama is headed for prison for violating the constitution and the 2nd amendment”.
If Obama goes hell-bent-for-leather to try to effectively rescind the 2nd Amendment, I wouldn’t bet the farm that he will STAY ALIVE long enough to see the inside of a prison cell.
And if he DOES stay alive and manages to avoid prison after attempting something like this, it may only be because by then, he will either be in exile in North Korea or having to hide out in some other Third World hellhole where he won’t dare to show his face or make his presence known – which for Obama would be an absolute living hell, because he would be living the barest-bones existence and would never again be able to address adoring crowds of fawning sycophants.

Feb. 6, 2013 at 1:37pmSo are you the brave boy that will be the first to pull the trigger?
I know I won’t. I’ve been to war and didn’t like it. I will fight back but will not be the first to pull the trigger.
It is easy to rant. The first time it is hard to pull the trigger.

Feb. 5, 2013 at 10:20pmSo what’s the real history on this lad? Obviously an evil genius and young spawn at that. While his work is devoid of logic. consistency, accuracy, and history it does have its appeal to the limbic minded cadre of the left along with moochers and malcontents. So what’s his real story? Was he really the top dog?
