What Gov’t Agency Has Been Added to Hackers’ Hit List Now?
There has been a slew of reported hackings of notable websites lately and a federal government agency has been added to the list.
First, it was the New York Times, then the Wall Street Journal, then the Washington Post and now the Department of Energy has announced it was hacked in January.
A letter to DOE employees obtained by Reuters stated the hack “resulted in the unauthorized disclosure of employee and contractor Personally Identifiable Information” but no classified data was compromised.
DOE stated in the letter it was increasing monitoring and using additional tools to protect sensitive information in light of the recent attack, Reuters reported.
The DOE didn’t speculate who the attackers might be. The recently announced attacks of the Times, Journal and Post were attributed to Chinese hackers.
At the same time, Anonymous has claimed that it again hacked another government website (to name a few it has infiltrated the Department of Justice, the Federal Trade Commission and Consumer.gov in the past), posting the supposed information of more than 4,000 bank executives.
The attack by Anonymous is part of its Operation Last Resort, which according to ZDNet is part of its campaign for U.S. computer crime law reform prompted by the suicide of Reddit co-founder Adam Swartz.
The spreadsheet published on the Alabama.gov website contained login information and credentials, IP addresses and contact information, according to ZDNet. Anonymous posted the following about the hack on Twitter:
Yes we posted over 4000 U.S. bank executive credentials zdnet.com/anonymous-post…

The link on the Alabama Criminal Justice Information Center remains offline Tuesday, as does its main page.
On Monday, Attorney General Eric Holder was supposed to answer questions from the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee about Swartz’s prosecution. At 6 p.m. last night, Anonymous on Twitter noted the clock for meeting the deadline answering these questions was ticking.

Posted on February 5, 2013 at 5:22pmThey claim they got your employee database, hacked twitter, they don’t have to hack facebook, and of course the reason they do this is so they know who all your friends and family are, probably where you live, what bars you go to, what your sexual habits are, where you go to church, is your house easy to bug, do you leave access badges laying around, unguarded in your vehicles, laptops, oh, look, he just ordered food and his phone is on the table close to where the aisle is?
Nothing to worry about people, nothing at all? Does the United States ever publish in the papers when they hack employee databases of foreign defense establishments?
Look at the bright side, you can always watch a television show to see what might happen next? So the priority in the press is to talk about gun control, not warn those who work for the government that their lives might be in mortal danger from unknown people with your “open borders”? If you work for the government, you don’t want any of your friends to own “assualt weapons”, knowing that they are “persons of interest” by foreign governments after reading reports of hacking in the media?
Let’s hope there are some honey pot fake employees in there, to catch the bad guys?

Posted on February 5, 2013 at 3:31pmI don’t condone illegal actions, from anyone, normally. However I think We the People are in a fight for our lives against a corrupt government that will lie, cheat and steal to get what it wants. In fact as we’ve seen they will also kill. Absolute power corrupts, absolutely.

Posted on February 5, 2013 at 1:58pmPlease this is disinformation 101. Anonymous is just a spook doing tests against our government sites for hardening purposes and they the gubment have been using them as way to create fear that we are susceptible to outside attacks and they continue to create legislation cracking down on internet controls…blah blah blah

Posted on February 5, 2013 at 2:42pmMy living depends on Network Security and understanding things like these…Ask yourself, Could it be possible that the US government would build websites linked to Aljazeera.net to pull in would be terrorists? Yes that is possible, then why would it also be unlikely that they would use a facade to not only pull in possible threats but control the US internet?

Posted on February 5, 2013 at 3:09pmbut to directly answer your question, to provide you proof you want is impossible, i would either have to be in anonymous or work for the government. If I was either and posted on here, I would no longer be anonymous nor would I be employed any longer for the government. So i can’t provide you concrete proof, only those that are of these organizations can. Your retaliatory comment is just a way to try and shut someone down. I could retort and ask you to provide proof that my statement isn’t true, but I know you can’t.
