Federal Reserve Confirms: Anonymous Infiltrated Its Internal System, Releasing Bank Executives’ Info

Federal Reserve Confirms Anonymous Hacked System and Stole 4,000 Bank Executives Information

While many were watching the Super Bowl Sunday night, Anonymous was claiming it had hacked into the Federal Reserve and posted the names of more than 4,000 bank executives on another .gov website. Now, the Federal Reserve has confirmed that an internal portion of its website was hacked.

“The Federal Reserve system is aware that information was obtained by exploiting a temporary vulnerability in a website vendor product,” a spokeswoman said, according to Reuters.

“Exposure was fixed shortly after discovery and is no longer an issue. This incident did not affect critical operations of the Federal Reserve system,” the spokeswoman continued.

Those whose personal information was obtained, which ZDNet reported included logins, IP addresses and contact information, have been notified.

As we reported Tuesday, the attack appears to be part of Anonymous’ OpLastResort, which is a campaign to reform U.S. computer crime law after the the suicide of Reddit co-founder Adam Swartz who was at the time being prosecuted by the government for illegally going through MIT’s system to steal millions of online scholarly articles.

The Fed didn’t say specifically what part of its website was hacked, but Reuters noted that it seems to be a non-public website to store a database for banks to use in the event of a natural disaster.

My gut tells me that they are with OWS. The enemy sometimes can use the same tactic as their adversary then lead them to the slaughter. Muster up conservatives who are fed up with this administration and lead them to start a revolution. Oh, that’s exactly what OWS wanted. They are baiting conservatives, that’s my gut!!!!

Anonymous may have scoundrels in their org. They may even be like the mafia, but as I recall the mafia was very helpful to us during WWll. Sometimes, you have to take the help where it is and not ask too many questions. Where there are gardens, there is also going to be some weeds.

Hey Liz Klimas, it’s Aaron Swartz, not Adam Swartz.

    Dear Anonymous,

Can you please hack the credit agencies and do something useful and meaningful to me, like erasing all negative information, and raise my credit score? lol

WTF do the anons ever do? OOOHHHHHH, everytime this is the headline: “They threatened to hacked a website, the results of the intrusion could lead to(Fill in the blank) Followed a couple days later by, “They hacked a website…the results…didn’t really have an effect or matter to the world.”

If you’re gonna do something headline worthy, give us a story to read…or shut down the internet so we have to go outside and read. Go online and erase the presidents executive orders…I mean come on.

The “government” is spying on you and keeping tabs on you like they OWNED you. They have given you ###### branding you like a cattle. Now they use technology (smartmeters) to spy even in the privacy in your home. This is ABUSIVE. It is criminal according to the US Constitution.
So it is good that activist citizens……DO UNTO THEM AS THEY ARE DOING UNTO OTHERS.
Print their addresses. Let see their faces!!! Let’s see THEIR bank accounts.

Peaking of hte present Government. I would “replace the Government” with a “constitutional government of the people, by the people and for the people.” I heard, a long time ago, this was tried…somewhere, can’t remember where. Some country out there that does not use that system anymore, but, from what I remember of older history books before their re-writes, it worked really well.

how is this ‘temporary’… that seems to be the new corporate speak for a hole they did not know about but have plugged. otherwise, they have a mole who could ferret out when such a window of opportunity would exist.

and i find i am less than concerned, given what their decisions and behaviors are doing to the nation… while i would prefer an above board transparent oversight, the Fed NEEDS some oversight, since the Congress seems unable to rein in what it created.

Anonymous is no different than the unstable, discontent, so-called Palestinians who cover their faces and toss stones. The only difference is that Anonymous throws only virtual rocks. They are way over-rated.

Except for when they, ya know, seek out pedophiles and turn them over to the FBI and identify those who post videos of themselves performing acts of animal cruelty.
I’m not saying they’re saints…by a loooong shot. But they aren’t all bad, either.
