Update on 9-Year-Old Mother: Reported to Have Been Sterilized Without Parental Consent, Stepfather Might Be the Dad

Editor’s note: This story has been updated with new information that includes sources saying the girl might have been older than originally reported. 

On Wednesday, TheBlaze reported about a 9-year-old girl in Mexico giving birth to a baby girl in late January. As if the story weren’t shocking enough, it has taken a few new twists.

Now, the U.K.’s Daily Mail reports that girl, named Dafne, will never get pregnant again because her mother says she was sterilized by doctors in a procedure done without parental permission.

The Daily Mail has also reported that there is speculation the father of the Dafne’s baby is not a teenage boyfriend, like the 9-year-old told to Zapopan authorities in the country’s western state of Jalisco. Some speculate it could Dafne’s stepfather. If this is the case, it would make Dafne’s baby, who was born Jan. 27 at Zoquipan Hospital weighing nearly 6 pounds, both the daughter and step-granddaughter of the man.

DNA testing is being conducted on many of Dafne’s male relatives to get to the bottom of the paternity issue. Neighbors also are reported by the Daily Mail saying they were surprised when they learned of the girl’s age, thinking she was older than 9 years old.

Here’s more from what the Daily Mail found out about the stepfather who supposedly left the area when the baby was born:

Neighbours in Colonial los Olivos told MailOnline that they were relieved that the stepfather, in his mid 40s, had left even if it was only for a short time.

They said he used to beat Dafne and sometimes their rows would spill out into the street where he would continue to hit her.

They also claimed he slept in the same bed as her and shared a bath and that he was abusing her just as he did his biological daughter, for which they claim he had spent time in jail.

A relative of the stepfather told MailOnline: “What he has done has shamed our family.

“I don’t know why the girl’s mother lets him carry on the way he has. They’re both liars and I think it’s terrible what has happened.

“Dafne is a child. She’s just a child. The girl’s mother is in love with him so she protects him, and this is what happens.”

The Daily Mail reported others saying that they believe Dafne’s mother is a prostitute who was also trying to recruit the child mother into the illicit trade. In Mexico sex with a person under the age of 15, even with consent, is a crime.

    Someone should really get all the facts about this story together in one article. There are several other sites reporting that the doctors who attended to her claim she is significantly older than 9, most likely over the age of consent. However, regardless of consent, prostitution of a minor is illegal in Mexico.

    What happened to the baby? Who is taking care of him/her?

    On another note: The father of the baby should be given the “Woman’s Death” (look it up) and the mother of the 9 year-old mother should be strung up and left for the buzzards to feed on.

    My father in-law had a horrible experience while in Mexico working a weekend at a local orphanage. A mistress & federally came in and “borrowed” a young girl for some man who likes children. My father in-law said if he had his gun with him, he would of shot both of them dead. They returned the girl a couple hours later. I didn’t hear anything else but my father in-law will no longer go to Mexico after this incident.

    When I read this article, I knew immediately that this was not the case of young love. A 8 (now 9) year old child isn’t in to boyfriend and girlfriend dating like raging hormonal teenagers.

    The true issue here is why in the world was this 9 year old little girl sterilized? She did NOTHING wrong and didn’t deserve to be punished. Raping a little girl is a human rights abuse, but so is sterilization without appropriate consent! A 9 year old little girl can’t give consent and her mother did not give it either. Why not offer to sterilize the rapist; after all HE is the one who is at fault here?!

      Amen Jen, the doctor that did this needs to be removed from practice and sued till the cows come home. This little girl has her whole life ahead of her, and she could have gotten married later in life and wanted to have kids. Now she can’t even make that choice. This is criminal.

    I apologize for my post yesterday but now that it has taken this Jerry Springer twist and nose dived into a “he said, she said” spat between neighbors, I have to ask why the report was initially reported on without one obvious fact being involved and further why is it still making headlines on The Blaze without any facts coming out from this report? I didn’t think this publication would turn into The Inquirer. What is with this, are y’all wanting people to take you seriously or are y’all going to stoop to these levels of blind reporting just to sell ads. I’m disgusted by what I read but even more disgusted by the fact it made it on The Blaze without ANY facts at all.

    Mexico has the technology to test DNA for paternity? Whoever raped the girl should be executed immediately,yes I know Mexico doesn’t have the death penalty so a family member should do it.

    Keaton, God did not intend for it to happen. It is the evil of the man responsible. It is so sad that the Mother was not a mother but a person with no morals and a stepfather that was so abusive in her life and if he is guilty he will stand before God someday. When we have a world with no morals, honor, integrity or any other sins then the poor children have no one to teach them right from wrong,to tell truth not lies and love not hate. I pray to God that the World changes for the better.

      9 year olds have already given birth in Arkansas and Mississippi
      10 year olds in Kentucky, twice in Virginia, 4 times in Texas, Illinois, Alabama, Delaware, Nebraska, Ohio, South Carolina, San Francisco and 3 times in mississippi

      Actually children giving birth between the ages of 5-11 happens more In America than any other country.

    I’m sure no one in this neighborhood noticed a pregnant 9-yr old. This lifestyle will soon be crossing our southern borders and probably already exists in many liberal sanctuary cities around the U.S.

    the mother and stepfather need to be sterilized, too, if what’s reported is going on.
    that poor child is doomed… having a child as a child will prevent her from getting an education, ‘marrying up’ or realizing her economic potential. and with a parent willing to let an adult do that to a family member to keep from losing him, she’ll have precious little support.

    it would seem ‘forced sterilization’ is the least of her worries. a horrible thing to happen, but the laws in Mexico are NOT those of the US… they follow Napoleonic law, with a greater weight for the country and population as a whole and less concern for the individual…
