‘Mark of the Beast’: Man Receives W-2 Bearing ’666,’ Immediately Quits Job
If you received a document stamped with the number “666,” what would you do?
For this one Tennessean maintenance worker, getting a W-2 tax form bearing the “mark of the beast” meant quitting his job:
Walter Slonopas, 52, told The Tennessean that accepting the number would have condemned his soul to hell.
“If you accept that number, you sell your soul to the devil,” he said.
That number, traditionally a symbol for the devil, is found in the Bible’s Book of Revelation describing the apocalypse.
The company that handles payroll for Slonopas’ former employer, Contech Casting LLC., says the number meant the maintenance worker’s form was the 666th one mailed out.
Slonopas, a self-proclaimed “born again Christian,” says he had trouble with the number before.
“In July 2011, the company changed time clock systems, and once again Slonopas got 666. This time he quit. The company apologized and he returned to work a few days later,” The Tennessean reports.
For their part, Contech is stunned that one of its employees is something of a magnet for the number.
“I am completely at a loss for words,” said company spokesman Bob LaCourciere.
LaCourciere says Contech would send a new W-2 and wants to rehire Slonopas. But Slonopas says “God is worth more than money.”
Slonopas’ wife, Anna, assures The Tennessean that although they are out of work, they’ll be just fine.
“If my husband makes $10, one goes to God, two go to savings, and we live on seven,” she said. “It’s not that my husband makes $10 and I spend $11.”
The company says it will try to rehire him.
“We’d love to have him back,” said LaCourciere.

Posted on February 8, 2013 at 4:34amGod would not condemn anyone over a number on a card. (Unless He’s very unreasonable.) Surely God knows what’s in your heart and soul. So don’t invite “the beast” into THOSE places.

not true. The Pharisees lived a perfect life outwardly. They were the ones who crucified an innocent man. They had no love in their hearts.
Many people especially psychos know how to act outwardly to hide their evil hearts.

Guys, really, you are the most powerful nation with the most powerful weaponsarsenal on this planet. But there are people in your middle, who are so superstitious, that they quit there job because a sheet of paper bears the wrong number?
Sorry, but this worries me. A lot.

Posted on February 8, 2013 at 12:44amWe already are using the mark of the Beast. The credit card or bank card is in your hand and the code for it is in the prefrontal cortex or the forehead and you soon won’t be able to use cash. Therefore won’t be able to buy or sell without it.

Posted on February 8, 2013 at 4:06pmI totally disagree with your point of view. Unless you actually receive the mark of the beast in your forehead or wrist, like having a microchip injected like they do in animal shelters, then you sold your soul to the beast.
Just because we use debit card, credit cards etc, we aren’t obligated to the mark of the beast.
But I do want to mention that the society is being slowly deceived into being a cashless society, and people think that it is so much easier to be that way. When the day comes to have the choice of getting the mark of the beast into our bodies, I for one am not going to accept it period. !!!!!!!

Posted on February 8, 2013 at 12:06amReally makes me wonder if the gene for immortality will be in some way capable of being calculated 666.
I could see that persons accepting the gene therapy to stop their aging might be taking the mark of the Beast, and such genetic markers would be found in the hand and the head. At issue there is that a person’s love of the world would transcend his desire to worship God and as such would proclaim himself a God as Lucifer did.

Posted on February 7, 2013 at 11:38pmOh Dear,
Another Poor Soul who skim reads the bible
it Says its “the number of his name” is 666
unless this mans name is “the beast” he is quite safe
anyways – If you were “the beast” youd know when you got fatally wounded in the head
come back from the dead, then attempt to rule the nations of the earth by controlling the worlds
currency and financial systems
Hardly something you’d expect from “Walter The Plumber!”

Posted on February 7, 2013 at 10:27pmyou guys crack me up but all are clueless. Try applying rules to prophesy. It is not about Hitler or Napoleon, Nero or any other Roman emperor.
In Bible prophesy a beast is a nation no exceptions, a woman is a church no exceptions. A good woman is a good church see Rev 13, A bad woman is a bad church see Rev 17. If you want to know who the anti christ is read daniel 2, 5,7 and 9 it is all right there. The antichrist has 8 things to look for that point to only 1 entity if you can get it let me know at joe.radosta at g mail if you do I have a lot more for you.

Posted on February 7, 2013 at 9:48pmDo you want to know at least one reason why Christianity has fallen on disfavor? It is Christians like Walter who stay in their ignorance and never mature.
“If you accept that number, you sell your soul to the devil.” That statement demonstrates just what a woeful job his church has done in discipling him. His pastor should have informed him that 666 is simply the number that follows 665. It is a shame that his ignorance now has national attention and that he thinks he is doing God a favor by opposing the number 666.
I know my comment above seems a little harsh, but such abject stupidity in Christianity has got to stop. Christians have got to stop being lazy in their faith and mature to reasonable, intelligent people. Walter’s foolish Christian faith is no longer persuasive anymore. Christians need to meet skeptics with knowledgeable, reasonable, intelligent arguments, not with fear of the 666-boogie man.

Posted on February 7, 2013 at 9:31pmIn the Bible “beasts” are applied figurative or symbolic of persons, governments, and organizations. Mankind has sometimes displayed the characteristics and qualities of animals or beasts. The US “eagle” Russian “bear” Great Britain “lion” China “dragon” and the book of Daniel uses beasts to symbolize Babylon, Medo-Persa, Greece, Rome, etc. and subordinate kingdoms are horns in some cases. So if you pledge ALLEGIANCE to a government or its symbol the flag is that a form of worship ?
Allegiance = 1. the duty of being loyal to ones ruler or government, country. 2. loyalty, devotion, as to a cause.
Satan was able to offer all the kingdoms of the earth to Jesus if he would to an act of worship to him. Could Satan have offered Jesus all these world governments if they were not his?

Satan is the dragon and the the beast represents kingdoms or governments of the earth.

Posted on February 7, 2013 at 8:35pm666 huh? 666 is a number on which the entire numerical system relies. You can’t just decide oh man it’s in the bible therefore I am going eliminate it from use. It’s like the hotel trick of eliminating the thirteenth floor. Just because the number says 14xx your actually holing up on the 13th floor! The number has no significance other than it’s nested between 665 and 667. The bible is warning about an individual who will be identified by the number “666″. If anyone hasn’t noticed this is a good thing! This is a message to the poor guppies swimming around at the bottom of the fish bowl that remain in those days to identify who this individual is and thus, avoid being deceived. From there, if you accept the mark that he causes all to have, then yes, you have no hope beyond the remaining days your still breathing air, which I believe will be cut short by the disease caused by receiving the mark. What is the mark? I don’t know, but I suspect it could be anything. I doubt it’ll be a big glaring “666″ stamped on your forehead though. It might even be a tattoo that says “Chocolate Love” for all we know. But undoubtedly, whatever it is, it’ll point back to the anti-christ. So Walter, in this time when jobs are at a premium, I’d say you screwed up for a lack of understanding.

Posted on February 7, 2013 at 8:31pmThis is undoubtedly the most wonderful thing I have read all year, thus far. Only religion could make a healthy person willfully quit their job based on a numerical anomaly. I can’t even feel bad for a person so utterly stupid.

Posted on February 7, 2013 at 8:28pmAppears this man is trying to ‘rightly divide the word of truth,’ trouble is, it is not consistent with the warp and woof of scripture. ‘It is written again,’ may help here. He is acting according to the faith that he has, and he cannot be faulted for that, but he may be thought to be a fool. Hitting the lottery is a bit of luck, seems somewhat unlucky that this ‘lottery’ came up trip sixes.
I have seen these combinations in just about everything, so have you. He must be a good worker, because the employer wants him back. That is something in and of itself, in spite of the commotion he is causing. He is however drawing attention to the inevitable which is true, ie, there will be a marking system, not here yet, but on the horizon- thus his concern is valid, but he’s making ado over nothing, as far as his employment. Still I am slow to chastise him, not all have equal wattage….

hello!
it is easy to fault somebody for a lack of light-
however, his small defect in understanding brings many scoffers out in the open; ie, even here, right now, so he is actually ‘preaching the gospel’ in an awkward way; God’s word does not return void….
