A high-speed car chase between the Los Angeles Police Department and a suspected drunk driver Wednesday night ended with the suspect hitting a highway guardrail and sending the vehicle up in flames.

The broadcaster in KTLA’s report, which showed aerial footage of the chase, maintains a rather calm, professional tone as he detailed the scene as car wove in and out of traffic on the 10 Freeway at 60 in Boyle Heights, which is a downtown Los Angeles neighborhood. But when live footage showed the red Mustang — going at upward of 100 miles per hour — hitting a rail, spinning out of control and bursting into a flaming fireball, the broadcaster’s tone changed completely.

“Losing control. Into the side wall. Smash. Overturned car. Boom. On fire.”
