It’s Been a Bad Week for Robbers in Detroit: Concealed Carry Holders Fight Back and Open Fire

Twice this week robbers in Detroit were shot by concealed carry holders who refused to be victims.

On Thursday night, a pair of teenagers approached two utility workers with the intention of robbing them. What the criminals didn’t know is one of the workers was a concealed carry holder. He pulled out his handgun and shot both teens, injuring them — one crucially and the other seriously.

“He’s protecting himself. I mean, he’s licensed to carry a concealed weapon, you know, so he knows what he’s doing,” said Denzel Williams, who heard the gun shots from a distance.

Last Friday, a high school basketball coach was walking two female players to their cars after practice when they were approached by two teen boys. The teenagers “announced a holdup” and grabbed the coach by his chain necklace and stuck something in his chest, WXYZ-TV reports. Police did not reveal if it was a gun.

After struggling with the teens for a period of time, the coach is able to get some distance between himself and his attackers. The 70-year-old coach then pulled out his concealed handgun and fired at the robbers, hitting both of them, one of them fatally.

Police say 16-year-old Michael Scott was killed in the botched robbery attempt. His 15-year-old accomplice was taken to the hospital in serious condition. Though the high school coach was initially taken into custody, a police source says the shooting appears to be a justified, self-defense homicide.

In CONTROL, Glenn Beck presents a passionate, fact-based case for guns that reveals why gun control isn’t really about controlling guns at all; it’s about controlling us. Find out more HERE.

Good to see that these would-be victims refused to be prey to these thugs. The 2nd Amendment was created for a reason, and it’s a good thing that it was put into practice. Hopefully it sends a message to other would-be assailiants…you never know who has a gun.

How long before the people of Illinois get fed up and we can read similar headlines about the thugs in Chicago being shot by their intended victims who were formerly denied the opportunity to defend themselves through legal CCW?

Hats off to the concealed carry gun owners. They were useing their 2nd Amendment Rights, as given by the US Constitution. I am also a concealed carry licsensed gun owner and would have done the same thing without thinking twice. Around where I live if you break into a house or go into a business and think you are going to have an easy job robbing someone, you are betting your life, and the odds are you’ll die.

    Let’s see…

The cost of incarcerating a prisoner in the United States is $18,000 to $50,000 per year, depending on the state.

This means that when a thug is ‘neutralized’ by a law abiding citizen who is exercising their Constitution rights, they are saving the state a lot of money.

In many states, the recommended sentence for armed robbery is 12.5 years, and assault adds a few more.

    Thus, a single bullet is a money saver of $225,000 – $625,000.

Seems like a good investment of money. Pistol and ammo: $1,000 (+/-, depending if the state is Democratic or Republican controlled).

    I say FIRE AWAY!!!

More proof of how important the Second Amendment is. Can anyone guess what America’s crime rate would be if we didn’t have the Second Amendment? We are a lot safer from criminals and government force than all those other countries that don’t have the firearm rights all Americans have.

Maybe within two years the good guys with guns can eliminate most of the bad guys with guns and this will be a kinder gentler nation.

It’s time any criminal over the age of 12 to be tried as an adult.
If teens are going to commit adult crimes, then they deserve adult punishment.

    Of assault, burglary, rape, murder…..

They just saved future innocent people from death.
They just saved tax dollars of a lifetime of incarceration.

I’m from the area and am in Detroit quite often. The only trouble we get IS from the teens. This story is no surprise except for someone calling these little punks on their stupidity.

What God said that is mistranslated by some to be “Thou shalt not kill” is really “Thou shalt not murder”. There is a big difference. Our founding fathers were mostly Christian men that knew the truth about our God given right to self-defense from criminals, in or out of government. I am a veteran, trained in firearms use, whom God has blessed with the means to arm myself. I have the ability and the right to defend myself. My God also commands “Love thy neighbor as thyself”. Anyone who would rape, rob, assault or murder another is NOT my neighbor, but rather a servant of the devil. I have a legal permit to carry a concealed weapon, and am always armed. I will defend myself and my neighbors from criminals in every case where I become aware of a threat. Bad guys have three choices: kill me, surrender or die. When enough citizens act in the same responsible way, the criminals will have to go back to breaking into unoccupied places, and the level of innocent victims of violence will again be greatly reduced. When seconds count, the police are minutes away. Protect yourself and your neighbors, and put the fear of God into the criminals. The alternative is to cower in fear and let the bad guys win.

@ Pete Saria ……. “I wonder what happens when the β€œnew” criminals start to get permits? Or they just start to shoot first and take wallet later. That is a response that needs to be considered. If criminals begin to feel they might e shot, they may just shoot.”

Have you been living a life of total fear, paranoia and cowardliness for very long? Many criminals do all that you fear anyways. I would rather not be shot at all, however I’d rather be shot possessing the equal means to resist than to be taken out like a fish in a barrel. Life is full of crime, hatred, misdeeds and just plain mean people around every corner (that reality should help your paranoia). if you cling to the “what ifs” to try and be safe, you’ll never do anything about the situation and just sit on the side lines waiting to be picked off like a bird on a limb. Criminals don’t want to die either, those that do you can’t stop anyways until the time comes. So, if criminals know the risk of being killed are greater then they’re less likely to take the chance. They mostly take the chance now because liberal lawyers, liberal judges, liberal politicians and cowardly liberal pupperts like yourself, have lessened the risk factor for them with your stupid liberal laws that bind the hands of and make the general public less a threat for the criminal.

If word gets out that people are carrying and are not afraid to use it, maybe criminals will think twice. When you know that someone may be carrying, your behavior changes. The most courteous people I have ever were at the gun range.

If we shoot and kill enough of these 47% ers one of two things will happen, one–the 47% will be reduced to 20% or, two, they will get a job and quit robbing people….Naw, number 2 will never happen, cause the POS, POTUS tells them they are entitled.

Chicago should have more carrying weapons to protect themselves from their neighbors and the police. The police are going to strike the city demanding a 12 % raise and what do you think they will threaten…use your imagination.Chicago is a Detroit wannabe with rampant debt, neighborhoods being swallowed up by taxes and 50 miles in every direction going dark.

Countless people were saved when the young perp was killed. His potential victims, future victims, and the taxpayers who would have paid for their trials and a lifetime of prison upkeep after sentencing. Aim straighter, folks. A civilized society depends on us.

So if you shoot a person of color that wants to rob you, is that racist?
I know if you are also of color it’s not ,but I’m concerned if Eric, the gun runner, will demand jail time for shooting one of his people.

Because black people hate it when non-blacks shoot black people who will eventually rob or kill black people. That’s the reality. It’s racial solidarity over every human instinct necessary for life. Then again, that’s “the black community”.

Thin and Foren…You both are right. It’s the same logic that says it’s OK for blacks to call each other the “n” word, but if a white person says the “n” word it’s the worst (i.e. most racist) thing in the world.
