It’s Been a Bad Week for Robbers in Detroit: Concealed Carry Holders Fight Back and Open Fire

Twice this week robbers in Detroit were shot by concealed carry holders who refused to be victims.

On Thursday night, a pair of teenagers approached two utility workers with the intention of robbing them. What the criminals didn’t know is one of the workers was a concealed carry holder. He pulled out his handgun and shot both teens, injuring them — one crucially and the other seriously.

“He’s protecting himself. I mean, he’s licensed to carry a concealed weapon, you know, so he knows what he’s doing,” said Denzel Williams, who heard the gun shots from a distance.

Last Friday, a high school basketball coach was walking two female players to their cars after practice when they were approached by two teen boys. The teenagers “announced a holdup” and grabbed the coach by his chain necklace and stuck something in his chest, WXYZ-TV reports. Police did not reveal if it was a gun.

After struggling with the teens for a period of time, the coach is able to get some distance between himself and his attackers. The 70-year-old coach then pulled out his concealed handgun and fired at the robbers, hitting both of them, one of them fatally.

Police say 16-year-old Michael Scott was killed in the botched robbery attempt. His 15-year-old accomplice was taken to the hospital in serious condition. Though the high school coach was initially taken into custody, a police source says the shooting appears to be a justified, self-defense homicide.

In CONTROL, Glenn Beck presents a passionate, fact-based case for guns that reveals why gun control isn’t really about controlling guns at all; it’s about controlling us. Find out more HERE.

Good on the coach and the utility worker with concealed carry and their guns. The punks have been having their way with the honest citizens for WAY too long, and maybe if a few more of them are shot they’ll wise up. Of course don’t tell the genius mayors of NYC and Chicago that or the genius governors of NY and IL because we just can’t have these vigilantes taking the law into their own hands. It’s much better for the police to fiddle around looking for the crooks as the honest citizens lie dead or injured in a hospital. According to Rahm and Mikey that’s the way it should be.

    @ SARIA

You’re the very thing that is wrong with this country today… a liberal utopiest that envisions a perfect world if only we’ll give peace a chance… I got news for ya pal, I live in peace and seek only to keep living in peace. It’s the criminals that destroy peace – not those that the criminals prey on.

You pose inane scenarios… the other day there was a lady close to our town who worked as a cashier in one of the 24 hour convenience stores… nice single lady… 4 young kids left on her by dead beat husband not in the picture… going to school in daytime to attempt to make better lives for her and her children. Two young thugs walk in, pull gun, demand money, she does everything they say with no resistance, thug shoots her in head and leaves. 4 kids now wards of state… motherless… thugs caught and put in jail…

Criminals ALREADY kill without provocation… killlers kill… rapers rape… that’s what they do.

I am a peaceful man. I want to continue to live in peace and also not worry about my kids and grand-kids surviving among the animalistic dregs of society all of the time. A punk come into my space and threaten my peace or my loved one’s peace better be prepared for the consequences because I will send him to eternal rest if threatened. The only thing I’ll FEEL in that situation will be recoil.

So, have these utility worker been fired for defending themselves? Thanks to the auto workers union and their ‘illegal’ friends, Detroit is now a garbage dump.

Not long ago I was visiting my local gun store which also sells police tactical gear. There were a couple of uniformed police officers inside looking around. I picked up a box of shotgun bean bag loads, thinking I would use them for less lethal home defense. The store owner came over and said you don’t want those. If you shot someone with these it would mean you didn’t really think your life was in danger, even if they’re standing in your house with a knife. You would probably be sued and even jailed. The two police officers looked over….one of them said…”he’s right, best go with 00 buck”. Strange conversation…but after thinking a while…the only time anyone should be pointing a firearm towards anyone is if your life is in danger (or an innocent is in danger). It’s the perceived perception in court that counts. Plus bean bag rounds might not be effective to stop an intruder. My point…make sure your life is in imminent danger, and shoot effective ammunition. Not saying these cops are legal experts, but it does give food for thought.

Fact! When the citizen is armed criminals don’t chance getting shot and commit lesser crimes. Burgleries, shoplifting, etc. Studies of locked up prisoners shows that they will avoid armed citizens and houses where they know the occupants are armed. Cops have to justify shooting of criminals and the paperwork and hassle makes police hesitant to shoot. Not so with the scared home owner in fear for his life. At least until the prosecutor gets involved to make a name for himself by going after the victim of the criminal.

CCW is the only protection. The Police can only investigate a crime, murder, rape, or other attack AFTER it has already occurred. I love the Police when they are doing their legal job, but they cannot help while the crime is being committed – only the individual can help their self. Don’t want to be a victim? PROTECT yourself.

” . . . alarming trend . . .”? This shows how biased the MSM is. The story lead with the broadcaster stating that this many be an “alarming trend”. I’m not alarmed at all.

The only thing that’s potentially alarming is that the libs in the government will be more concerned about the “innocent until proven guilty” perps and will want to legislate guns out of the hands of the abiding citizens. It’s a fact that the cities with the toughest gun control laws are the ones with the highest violent crime rates – because the criminals know their chance of getting a cap from their victim. The best thing we could do is ensure that law-abiding citizens are allowed to purchase a hand gun and afforded reasonably priced training in how to properly store and use their firearm.

The sad part is a “permit” is required. Why do you need permission to exercise a right? What other right do you have to pay for? I am exempt from the permitting laws in my state but doubt I would bother with the “carry permit” if I wasn’t. I have the right to protect myself and my family and that right is spelled out very plainly in the 2nd amendment which also is the ONLY amendment with the words “SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED”.
These two punks got what they had coming. I won’t call them “children” because they stopped being children when they decided to rob and steal using a firearm. The only sad part of the story is they both were not killed.

Since the wonderful judicial system won’t do their jobs keeping citizens safe from criminals (by slapping them on the wrist), citizens need to take matters into their own hands. Why should any American need a permit to carry a handgun when we have the Constitutional right to do so anyway? The more of these worthless punks that get killed when they commit crimes, the better off the country will be.

I was out at Tombstone, AZ today on a self guided tour of the place. Saw the gallows set up at the old court house where 7 men were hung. Saw a mock gunfight between a bank robber and the town sheriff, the robber lost. Americans need the ability once again to send a clear and strong message to the criminal element among us who see everyone as a potential ATM machine.

Put a few more in the ground is what I say and let God sort them out. 15 years old and dead already is where this liberal controlled country as led us. They have ignored the fact that each one of us has within us the ability to perform utter evil. Male or female, we’ve come a long way from good old fashioned law and order in this country.

It used to be not that long ago, that people were allowed to stand their ground and be unafraid of what the law may do to them. I’m very happy to see they called it a justifiable homicide. I hope the kids parents can live with this outcome and accept that they are also responsible for how this kid wound up.

This story is exactly why we need more gun control!

And……by gun control, I mean hitting what you are aiming at. A little better gun control, and there would be 4 dead perpetrators not 1.
