Lesbian Couple, Gay Man Listed as Three Parents on Baby’s Birth Certificate
A Florida judge is allowing the names of three people — a gay man and two lesbians — to be included as the parents on a 23-month-old girl’s birth certificate.
According to Reuters, the decision by Miami-Dade Circuit Court Judge Antonio Marin is the end of a two year battle between the lesbian couple who used the man’s sperm to conceive the girl, but the man later wanted more of a part in the child’s life.

This photo shows the baby’s biological father and mother and her adoptive mother with the judge who ruled all three could be on the child’s birth certificate. The mothers have sole parental rights but the father has been granted visitation. (Photo: Facebook via the Miami Herald)
Here are more details surrounding the situation from Reuters:
The women, Maria Italiano, 43, and Cher Filippazzo, 38, had made several unsuccessful attempts to become parents using fertility clinics.
They then turned to Italiano’s hair dresser, Massimiliano Gerina, and asked if he would provide his sperm for artificial insemination.
“When push came to shove, they figured he would understand the situation,” said Kenneth Kaplan, an attorney for the women.
“The mistake they made, however, was there should have been a written document spelling out what his rights and responsibilities were going to be.”
The Miami-Herald reported Gerina’s lawyer Karyn Begin saying “we’re creating entirely new concepts of families.” Initially, Gerina was seeking parental rights and had Begin draw up these rights and a visitation schedule in a contract, which “they hated,” Gerina said. It was at this point, shortly after the girl was born in 2011 that they all officially went to court.
Although under Florida law sperm donors technically have not legal rights to the children they help father, the judge ultimately decided the two women will have sole parenting rights, but Gerina will be allowed some visitation twice a week for the next two years.
“The mothers are in charge. I’m just going to spend time with her. They are the parents,” Gerina said, according to the Miami Herald.
The mothers seem to agree that the arrangement could benefit the toddler.
“We’re trying to do the right thing for Emma,” Filippazzo said according to Reuters. “We want Emma to have it all, and we believe by doing it this way, including him in a birthday or Thanksgiving, it’ll be a nice addition for her.”
Lawyers involved said many of these legal issues could have been avoided if all parties involved had discussed the implications and drew up a legal contract before the child was conceived.
Scientific research has also shown a baby could be made with the DNA of three parents, which could call into question the three parent birth certificate issue again someday as well.

Posted on February 8, 2013 at 1:51pmIt’s one thing for a person to say their gay and stick to it. Although perverse, they are committed to a cause.
It is quite another for one to claim to be gay and then cowar to their supposed cause in order to rely on nature for offspring. They are perverse, lack commitment and unworthy of trust.
Science can continue to propogandize homosexuality as natural. However, nothing in nature was meant to live for only one generation. Germs and viruses beget other germs and viruses. Seeds produce vegitation, flowers, trees, fruits and vegitables, etc in their respective seasons year after year. The animal kingdom produces offspring according to natures clock year after year.
Although intimacy in humans is meant to build the bonds of love between a man and a woman, it’s primary purpose was and is to procreate. Unfortunately lust has replaced love in perverse attractions. True love can only be built on eternal truths and we know God’s position on unnatural affection (i.e., abomination).

Quite the opposite. Science proves the developmental aberration of homosexuality. It is a failed Darwinian experiment, in nature, of gene expression.

Will God save America … so it can commit “abomination”? What do you think …
13 “If a man lies with a male as he lies with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination. They shall surely be put to death. Their blood shall be upon them.” -Leviticus 20, Holy Bible
28 And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a debased mind, to do those things which are not fitting;
29 being filled with all unrighteousness, sexual immorality, wickedness, …
32 who, knowing the righteous judgment of God, that those who practice such things are deserving of death, not only do the same but also approve of those who practice them.

Kids are not projects and a name on a birth certificate is not needed to invite someone to a party.

Where does it say in the Bible that those cities were destroyed because of gays? Which version are you using? Do you realize that this tale was written before the concept of history had been invented? Which means that this has the same historicity and The Odyssey. And did God come down from heaven to write the Bible personally, or was it penned by fallible man? The point here is that the Bible is a book of morals, and not every word can be taken literally. And if you think that ostracizing a group of people based on the way they are born is what God would want, you should probably reevaluate things….

If God does not exist, then the principles professed by said God would be untrue in your eyes. You can’t have it both ways. Is there a God and a moral code or is there no God and no moral code?
Let me help you with this one. Yes, He DOES EXIST. Yes, He has given us a moral code to follow, and He will judge each person according to their thoughts, words, and deeds.
Although one may error in some part by calling someone specific out for wrong doing (i.e., passing judgment if you will….identifying the mote in another’s eye while have a beam in one’s own eye), we have been instructed by GOD to judge wisely and to live according to His statutes. Better said, I may need to repent for calling somoone specific out for homosexuality, but I will not have to repent for acknowledging and warning others that homosexuality is a perverse and evil act in the eyes of God and that those guilty of such an offense will be damned according to God’s own words if they do not change and repent.

Posted on February 8, 2013 at 2:36pmAtheism is pox on society. It is as Sir Isaac Newton called it, “senseless and odious”. Atheism drags morality down to animalistic levels with its moral relativity. And there are no uplifting and noble qualities to it, like Jesus taught us about caring for the least among us. Instead, inhumanity is elevated over love and goodness in a survival of the fittest mentality (atheism goes hand in hand with eugenics). Atheism can only debase society. For example, when it comes to the arts, the truly great artists in history, like Michelangelo, received inspiration from God above. And since art reflects the inspiration of the artist, his artwork was inspiring and uplifting. Any inspiration from an atheist on the other hand, can only reflect base, coarse, earthly things. And so instead of being uplifting, any so-called art from atheists can only debase and degrade. But such is the folly of atheism.

There are a lot of children being raised by straight couples in traditional marriages who really have three parents because one of their parents is infertile. If you can see past your irrational prejudice against gay people and consider it objectively, the idea of sometimes having three names on a birth certificate is actually a long overdue change.

The sperm donor donated as a favor to his two lesbian friends, but was not supposed to have any part as a parent in the child’s life. Then the women decided to sue him for child support. He decided that if he was to be forced to pay for the kid, he should be granted rights to be in the kid’s life. So he took them to court and won. Weird story. Though I don’t agree with these arrangements as being the best for the child…good for him!

Posted on February 8, 2013 at 2:14pmAtheist-Infidel; I will pretend for a moment that you have the right to make moral judgments on anything, given you have no foundation for such non-sense.
I assume you are familiar with the story of the good Samaritan. That is a good picture of God’s plan. We are to bind up wounds and provide for those who can not provide for themselves. If there is a starving child somewhere, let’s expand that, if there is a starving person somewhere then there is a person responsible for that starvation.
If you knew anything about Christians, you would know that for generations, as early as there were Christians, there have been people who have sacrificed their lives in places far from their homes, living among the poor and ignorant giving freely millions and millions of dollars to build schools, hospitals and supply food and clothing to strangers who are physically and spiritually sick, starving, and naked. All those people went in the name of Christ our God. The same God that you curse.
Since I am a sinner and I know that you are one too because everyone I’ve known so far is one, I know that you are furious with God because of sin. If you get to know some genuine Christians instead of the ones you imagine, you will find that they are the first to admit their own sin. I encourage you to examine yourself, confess your sin and take another look at who God really is.

Posted on February 8, 2013 at 2:19pmAtheist, you are making a straw man argument. None of us Christians deny the existence of evil and suffering. We struggle to understand the love of God and the evil He allows to continue in this world. The Bible gives standards for living that counter evil. We know that even we who acknowledge God’s sovereignty in our lives and believe what the Bible tells us know that we fail in living up to those standards. I, for one, don’t judge homosexual behavior any more harshly than the rancid things I sometimes say, or the rebellious things I sometimes do. This designer baby thing is really not ok, though. Neither is abortion, parental abandonment, or a myriad of other evils. The measurement has to be up against what God ordained…creation and rearing of a child from the committed relationship of the two people who provide the biological material that makes up the child’s DNA.

Shalom,
No, the starvation of millions of children, and adults for that matter, the murders, molestations and other horrors inflicted upon man by his fellow man on a daily basis are NOT a part of the Lord’s plan.
The Lord’s plan for his creation including mankind has not changed, and is clearly shown in the account set forth in the opening chapters of the book of Beresheth (Genesis in the English Bible); The plan was and is for mankind to be in fellowship with the Lord and with his fellow man, mankind in a position of stewardship over the Earth, and the Earth and the rest of creation in a position of providence for mankind.
Mankind in general has broken that fellowship. Mankind in general has abandoned that stewardship. Mankind is suffers the results from the actions of mankind. This is NOT a one way relationship. Most importantly, it IS a relationship.
The Lord has done his part, kept his word at every turn. When we do our part, we reap the blessings of his promises. When we do not do our part, we reap the just rewards of our actions.
The Lord created the heavens and the Earth. He gave us everything that we have. When we reject him and walk away, he makes it possible for us to be reconcilled with him without sufferring the ultimate consequences of that foolish action. He even arranged for those ultimate consequences of our rejection to be paid for us.
…And you mock even the possibility of his being because he does not do more?

Shalom,
It is no wonder that you do not hold to the belief described in your inaccurate asessment of the Judeo-Christian faith, no Jews or Christians (at least the ones that I am aware of) hold to those beliefs either.
Your mockery of a faith will be far more effective if you mock things that are actually part of that faith.
For example; it is useless to try and mock Islam by calling muslims pacifists.
Please attempt to discover what the Judeo-Christian faith is about; read the Scripture (and if that is where you got these nutty ideas, try to pay attention while you are reading it this time), then, should you again find some portion that you think is laughable, mock it some more.
I am certain that there will always be someone who is able to correct your misconceptions so that eventually you will have understanding of the Judeo-Christian faith, and will no longer have anything to mock.

Posted on February 8, 2013 at 3:50pmUh…I was a born again christian for the first 25 years of my life. What is incorrect? I mean, I know it’s not the most eloquent theological argument…but it summarizes it pretty well.

Nah, one of my kids is agnostic. They think homosexuality is wrong too. They don’t rely on the Bible for their belief that homosexuality is wrong. So all your efforts in tearing down religion are in vain. For your next act are you going to pi$$ in the wind?

Posted on February 8, 2013 at 4:29pmTHEDOORS… You might have attended a church for 25 years. Members of your family might be born again, but I have my doubts about you (please interpret this in the kindliest tone possible). I’ve had doubts about God. I’ve even said some outrageous things about Him in my ignorance, but to so cavalierly mock Christ and His word, without showing the slightest remorse tells me the Spirit of God is not in you. Besides, being born again for the first 25 years of your life is mathematically impossible. Becoming a Christian is a decision. An infant is not capable of making that kind of decision. You are right about one thing: Your statement was not eloquent. It was not rational. It was not even serious. It reflected no thoughtfulness at all. It wasn’t even “scientific.” You need to read Genesis 3 again. Eve was not tempted by a snake; she was tempted by a serpent. The serpent was changed by God after the temptation when he pronounced the curses. You also need to read the end of the Gospels again. Jesus was nothing like a zombie; the comparison really deserves no countenance. Surely you are more intelligent than to be satisfied with so shallow and silly a rebuttal against the faith as the one you have written here. One last thing you should think about: If you don’t think God can create a woman out of a rib, raise Christ from the dead, and hear prayers, then your god is too small.

Posted on February 8, 2013 at 2:08pmAh, not quite ready for that yet. The next oddness to be normalized will be pedophilia. When that is “just another lifestyle”, then they will start normalizing the animal “…first comes love, then comes marriage, then comes what-ever-it-is in the baby carriage” stuff. I’ll take polygamy and polyandry any day over this sickness!

Posted on February 8, 2013 at 1:23pmDidn’t they have room on the Birth Certificate to also list the bed, a test tube, and the paper boy as a father? After all, why not just list every fantasy these people have on who the legal parents will be. Wow, Dr Suess would be confused with this situation, instead of “Are you my Mommy?” the book would be, who isn’t my Mommy.
