Tony Bennett’s Confusing Gun Theory: We Need Gun Control to Prevent Times Like When the Nazis ‘Came Over and Created Tragic Things’
During a Wednesday press conference, singer Tony Bennett invoked a Nazi reference to preach gun control. But take a listen and see if you can figure out exactly what he’s saying:
Here’s a transcript:
QUESTION: How important do you believe it is to solve the problem of possible mental illness from some people and prevent the shootings before it happened and how do you think the industry of entertainment also can fulfill to create a new generations of young people that are not so sensitive to this type of tragedy?
BENNET: Well, we should just care for our children so much and make sure thatβ¦ my own children were told just donβt ever have a gun.Β No guns in my house, they’re not allowed. And I just believe that assault weapons, they were invented for war, they shouldn’t be on our streets here.
Itβs the kind of turn that happened to the great country of Germany, when Nazis came over and created tragic things and they had to be told off. And if we continue this kind of violence and accept it in our country, the rest of the world is going to really take care of us in a very bad way.
We should learn that we’re the greatest country because we are all different nationalities and all different religions and we should show the rest of the world how to behave. Thank you.
Clear?
“Tony Bennett is apparently unaware that the Nazi party was actually created in Germany and did not ‘come over’ from some other country,” Newsbusters writes. “He also is apparently unaware that gun control laws were one of the many restrictions placed upon citizens under Nazi domination.”
Later in the day, Bennett was asked about the comment by Wolf Blitzer — and it didn’t get much better (that parts starts at about four minutes):
Better?
In CONTROL, Glenn Beck presents a passionate, fact-based case for guns that reveals why gun control isnβt really about controlling guns at all; itβs about controlling us. Find out more HERE.

Posted on February 8, 2013 at 10:40amHere’s a guy with a lot of talent, who made a lot of money during his life. I believe he has a limited education, but has done quite well for himself because of his talent.
Once again a celebrity comes to the forefront to prove that, if you’re not well educated and not very smart, a boat load of money will make people listen to you…but you’re still stupid and misinformed.

Posted on February 8, 2013 at 10:27amI am going to give poor tony the benefit of the doubt. I will assume he means well but has only looked at half the truth. I am a pacifist as are most God fearing people, if they are honest with themselves. I served 23 yrs in the USMC and fought in three wars/conflicts and I can say with certainty that nearly every member of my unit in each conflict did not want to go fight. We did it to fight for our country and to preserve freedom but I could think of 100 other places I would rather be. Mr. Bennett is speaking of an ideal world where no one wants or needs to go to war. BUT because that ain’t the case, we have to, with a heavy, but ferocious heart, counter those that wish us I’ll will so that we can maintain peace. Is it an oxymoron? Yes. Is it the real world? Yes! Do we want war ? No! Will we stand up for ourselves everytime though? Hell yes!!!
I think mr. Bennett means well, he just needs to think it through. If remain pacifist to the degree that we fail to defend ourselves then we deserve to hostility and evil that will befall us as a nation and as individuals

Posted on February 8, 2013 at 10:09amWith all due respect folks, Mr. Bennett IS in fact dealing with an illness, that’s obvious. He probably sings his songs from memory without even having to think about it. We should cut the old dude some slack, even if he is 180ΒΊ out. Hey, I’m probably not that far behind him myself.
No one, and I mean NO ONE is going to disarm we Americans. There may be bloodshed, but, in the end, we the people will still be armed, and in charge.
