Tony Bennett’s Confusing Gun Theory: We Need Gun Control to Prevent Times Like When the Nazis ‘Came Over and Created Tragic Things’
During a Wednesday press conference, singer Tony Bennett invoked a Nazi reference to preach gun control. But take a listen and see if you can figure out exactly what he’s saying:
Here’s a transcript:
QUESTION: How important do you believe it is to solve the problem of possible mental illness from some people and prevent the shootings before it happened and how do you think the industry of entertainment also can fulfill to create a new generations of young people that are not so sensitive to this type of tragedy?
BENNET: Well, we should just care for our children so much and make sure that… my own children were told just don’t ever have a gun. No guns in my house, they’re not allowed. And I just believe that assault weapons, they were invented for war, they shouldn’t be on our streets here.
It’s the kind of turn that happened to the great country of Germany, when Nazis came over and created tragic things and they had to be told off. And if we continue this kind of violence and accept it in our country, the rest of the world is going to really take care of us in a very bad way.
We should learn that we’re the greatest country because we are all different nationalities and all different religions and we should show the rest of the world how to behave. Thank you.
Clear?
“Tony Bennett is apparently unaware that the Nazi party was actually created in Germany and did not ‘come over’ from some other country,” Newsbusters writes. “He also is apparently unaware that gun control laws were one of the many restrictions placed upon citizens under Nazi domination.”
Later in the day, Bennett was asked about the comment by Wolf Blitzer — and it didn’t get much better (that parts starts at about four minutes):
Better?

Posted on February 8, 2013 at 12:51pmThe left talked about “poor Clint” after he spoke at the republican convention. The left said “Clint has lost it” “it was embarrassing to watch.” At that time, many conservatives said had Clint said the same thing for the democrats he would have been lauded as a hero or sharper than ever. Well we see that now; poor Mr. Benett HAS lost it and has no idea about WWII (even though he was alive and well then) and makes a rambling nonsensical statement. What does the left do? Tells us how great he is, how smart he is, how sharp he is even now. The left is SO predictable but it is a shame those like Chris Rock et al are to blinded to see how shallow they are by making their idiotic speeches.

Posted on February 8, 2013 at 12:23pmI don’t even see what people see in his singing. He was on stage recently singing with a 12 year old girl and she sang circles around him. She sounded much more like a professional and he just sounded like some old man pulled out of the audience.

His knowledge of history is just as bad as his singing.

Posted on February 8, 2013 at 12:23pmI’m not one to defend a liberal but give this guy a break–having seen him on TV recently it’s apparent that he’s failing in the memory department. Shame on the politicians for humiliating him after such a long and successful career.

Posted on February 8, 2013 at 11:47amThis is over the line BLAZE. Regardless of how misguided, Tony Bennet is obviously suffering from dementia or some other cognitive difficulties. There are plenty of young, reprobate, anti-gun celebrities making stupid comments that the BLAZE can showcase.

Posted on February 8, 2013 at 11:33amPoor Tony Bennet, looks like age has gotten the best of him. But one thing none of us can diss him on is his service as a front line rifleman in WW2 against the Nazi’s whose exploits he does not remember so well.

Posted on February 8, 2013 at 11:32amThis is so sad. Mr. Bennett has, in his declining years, been co-opted by the Left. This case, though, is starting to backfire, because even the Evil Loonies are embarassed by this “endorsement”.
What a shame. Isn’t there anyone near Mr. Bennett that would protect him from this?

Pathetic. Who will they exploit next?
