‘Very Important Person’ Doesn’t Recognize NFL Player Brett Keisel After He Shaves Off His Beard for Charity

NFLs Brett Keisels Daughter Doesnt Recognize Him After He Shaves Off His Beard for Charity

Pittsburgh Steelers defensive end Brett Keisel shaved his well-known beard Thursday night for his annual “Shear Da Beard” fundraiser for the Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh, but not all the children were happy about it.

Steelers.com relates:

A clean-shaven Keisel took the stage to “Sharp Dressed Man,” unrecognizable to many, including his two-year old daughter Grace.

“My daughter came in the door and she was like who is that. I don’t know him,” said Keisel. “I had to get my voice out toher and make sure she realized it was me talking to her. She finally warmed up to me.”

But other than that “very important person,” as Yahoo describes young Grace, many were inspired by Keisel’s act.

“Brett’s beard really has taken on a life of it’s own and Shear Da Beard has become a great annual event to support cancer programs and research at Children’s Hospital,” Christopher Gessner, the president of the Children’s Hospital said.  “We’re extremely grateful to Brett, and more importantly to his wife Sarah for letting him grow the beard back each season.”

You’ll want to see the video of the clipping, described on YouTube:

Pittsburgh’s best-known beard is gone. It leaves behind warm, fuzzy memories and a sizable sum of cash.

[...]

He had plenty of help Thursday night, as one by one, Steelers’ players and coaches including Mike Tomlin, Dick LeBeau, Ben Roethlisberger, Heath Miller, Cameron Heyward and Charlie Batch stepped onto the stage of Jergel’s Rhythm Grille to snip a slice of Keisel’s humongous whiskers.

I pray that no fleas jumped out of that mangy beard and infested the children shaving it.

The next day, “Mommy I feel all itchy and there’s lot of red bumps all over me.” Even later at the hospital of sick kids wearing his beard **** as a wig, the Dr is talking to the mom, “It looks like the cancer is spreading to little Timmy’s head, his scalp is inflamed and has unusual bumps that I haven’t seen in 30 years of practice” I’m afraid we’re going to have to remove the top of Timmy’s head as a precaution.”

Actually, it’s one of a very few good stories to come out of sports in general.

I used to be a big fan of baseball – no more. Agree with me or not, but most sports now are fielded by thugs and drug abusers rather than guys who simply love the sport and abide but its rules. Heck, even a guy who rides a bicycle goes down in shame losing everything he earned because he felt the need for that extra edge over the other guy illegally.

Heroes are so very few and far between. We’ve had two wars waged over the past ten years – how many of them have been put before us as truly heroic? There have been a few Medals of Honor conferred – some even to living military members. Where are the parades?

In politics there are NO men or women of honor. While some might not think that’s all that strange, but to have none? As the reality of “ObamCare” is brought out into the light, we’re finding out just how wonderful it is that took so much dishonesty to become law. Our borders are no more secure than when the current president took office; and we know that amnesty is right around the corner.

The times they are a-changing. Indeed they are, but not for the better.

Thank God, there are so many good people left in this world, I know we out number the rotten ones. The liberal media makes sure that the good ones never get any ink, or any public kudos. The NFL (National Felons Leaque) should be front and center on this act of kindness, but they’re more interested which drugged out celebrity is going to next years super bowl half time show….My hats to you Mr. Keisel and all who give their time and energy for good.

It’s really sad how many NFL players have foundations to help the less fortunate but they never make the news. Hines Ward was trying to buy the home where 4 Pittsburgh police officers were killed for the purpose of turning it into a memorial park. Dozens of NFL players do tons of charity work, but it’s the druggies, and drunks who make the news. It’s really a sad commentary on the news industry in this country.

Somewhere on this Planet are 2 Chemo-Kids wearing my ****…..

I was turned down for a really nice job back in 2004 because of my Monk pony-tail. Got all the way from HR and 2 interviews to the department head I was to work for. Being retired ex Air Force, when he saw me from the back-side during the tour of the work area I was to work in, I was escorted out the door of Raymond James Financial in St. Petersberg, Fl.

So I went and got a haircut that I didn’t want and I chose a “Locks of Love” sponsored business.

I had heard that some peoples **** stopped growing at a certain length and knew a few people that never got haircuts because of this. One was in High School, he had a 12″ pony tail for years and it stopped right there. The other was a woman I knew whose **** would only grow to 3″ and stop.

I decided (a word that most people do not comprehend) to see when and if my **** would stop growing. It never did at the time of my haircut (which I still maintain today).

My ****, my beautiful brown **** (tied up in a pony tail) was 3 or 4 inches past my belt. When “Locks of Love” cut it off they had over 2 feet of really nice ****. They said they “had to make” 2 wigs from it because of company policy. As a Monk from the school of Gratefulness, I agreed, and two young Children wear my **** instead of one. They are, of course, older now.

I often wonder who these 2 Children are and how they are doing. But I have no way of knowing.

Brett Keisel raised money for the sick kids at Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh.
If only one sick child is helped by the money he raised by cutting off his beard, then it truly is a “great deed”.

Typical Jagoff !! All the funds raised from the event goes to help sick children… Most of the Steelers are very active in the community, raising great amounts of money for local charities and causes. Which is only one thing in it self, but to give their time to the events and all that goes into raising money for good causes is an entirely other part of the process. We take care of our own in Pittsburgh and hold our athletes to the standards of the average man, They don’t like it, we ship them out … They learn this very quickly in this town. Where you from…. New York ??? bahhahahaha

Yes they are all stupid. They’re cutting off **** which benefits nobody in any way shape or form. They could just as easily have a bowling tournament or some sort of banquet and raise the same money. What makes them and these events stupid is they’re pretending they’re making some kind of sacrifice for a cause.

ROWGUE — Keisel is a well liked player who is also well-known for his beard. By agreeing to shave it off, he generates a little extra interest for the charity, and that spreads awareness. That awareness leads to more donations. This isn’t rocket science. Now, go pull that stick out of your a$s.

ROWGUE…..What I find interesting is that you don’t understand the concept of a fundraiser. Guys like Brett Keisel and Troy Polamalu are what are right with professional athletes. These guys volunteer many hours of service to organizations in the local community, and I know firsthand that they don’t do it because there is a TV camera around. These are the kind of civic minded individuals that give of their time for the betterment of the community. They have been known to drop by a local home for youth and ask if there is anything they can do…..Without the media in tow.

And if you ask who does shaving a beard off benefit?….It surely benefits the kids at Children’s Hospital. The Steelers are larger than life in Pittsburgh. And, when a sick kid in Children’s is visited by a Steeler, it is priceless to see the expression that visit brings to their faces, not to mention that the kid, if only for a minute, forgets their illness.

ROWGUE….So, run along little man. You’ve got a lot to learn about people and a lot of growing up to do.
