Chief Meteorologist Hutch Johnson for his KVLY 5 p.m. weather report each week has invited a “Scheels Weather Kid” to assist him.
This past Thursday was 9-year-old William Hallman’s turn and after watching his suave hand gestures to the map and honest responses about the weather, you’re bound to want someone like him give your report everyday.

At one point the official meteorologist asks Hallman if he sees anything snow on the radar. His perfect response: “I see, it’s just a normal map” (a.k.a. no snow).
“Where is it snowing?” Johnson asks then.
The astute 9-year-old notes that it is snowing “in the Great Lakes area from Chicago to Toronto.”

Stay tuned later in the video to see how excited he gets about snow on Sunday. (Image: YouTube screenshot)
At one point when describing the rainy conditions in the southeast, Hallman is doing such a great job, Johnson asks if he has done this before.
“Um a little bit,” Hallman said.
Watch the report for yourself and see if you wouldn’t agree:

Feb. 10, 2013 at 4:50pmIt would be nice to EVER get a video to load on this page and ACTUALLY GET TO WATCH IT WITHIN AN HOUR’S TIME! Never have this problem on other pages, just The Blaze. All day long, every day. Start, stop, start, stop, continually. Same withe The Blaze TV. Cannot watch a show without start, stop, start, stop. I don’t even try anymore. It is so ridiculous to pay for this and never get to watch it with ROKU, never get to watch a video on this page, etc. You ask us to support you and I have bought everything coming down the pike, including traveling to Arlington this past year. Now you want us to support you in your future endeavors. How about getting your stuff to work now before asking for more money for more projects. FED UP. Can’t watch a damn show on The Blaze TV. NADA! I continually have to load and reload this page just to read the articles, much less try to watch the videos. Get a grip and fix your problems.

Feb. 11, 2013 at 5:52amYou are angry at the wrong people. The problem is your ISP and you should do a speed test. Go to http://speakeasy.net/speedtest/ and find out. Sounds like you are way below 1.5 MBPS meaning good luck watching GBTV as their data bandwidth is higher than many other places you watch streaming media due to their going to HD. Try setting the quality to the lowest setting and see if the pausing to reload data buffers lessens. Then call your internet provider with the results. I fought the same exact problems as you for over a year on a DSL connection. Turned out to be a fault in their (my ISP) equipment which took months for them to repair. Blaze, and GBTV had nothing to do with it.

Feb. 10, 2013 at 1:17pmWhat a PRECIOUS kid! He must be a totally great kid to have around the house. Really smart. I’d be busting my buttons if I were his parent. Love his enthusiasm! Thank you, Blaze, for posting this. I needed a good lift. The man who helped him was great too–very natural with kids. Bless ‘em both!

Feb. 10, 2013 at 12:28pmHey Blaze editor, the station’s call letters, KVLY are “ok,” but the geographical location of the station would have been helpful in the lead of this story!
Somewhat “sloppy” journalism.

Feb. 10, 2013 at 8:01pmIf that kid is a real weather buff then he also knows that climate change and global warming is a real phenomena, unlike the anti-science conservative movement in the US that insists that science is fake and idiots like Glen Beck and Rush Limbaugh and all the other idiots from conservative America know more then real scientists like myself!!!!!
First of all — weather is not the same as climate! Weather is a local and ephemeral event. Whereas climate is regional and of longer duration.
Global warming is what it says, GLOBAL, in nature. Just because it is freezing cold in Minnesota in January (like it is supposed to be), it doesn’t mean that global warming is BS! To get the average global temperatures, you need lots of data points of avg. surface temps from all over the earth and then see how the global averages have increased during the industrial revolution as compared to the avg global temps prior to the burning of fossil fuels….
Now, if this kid can understand the concept of global warming and its ramifications, why can’t the average conservative nimrod??????????????????????

Feb. 9, 2013 at 5:15pmOh, hurry… please, Obama, redact the kids enthusiasm… extinguish his flame with your most effective “Executive Restrictions” before he actually gets his life going on the “WRONG” track. It’s your sworn duty to keep him from becoming a bad influence on other kids. Please don’t let us down Luminous One!

Feb. 9, 2013 at 5:34pm@Singerguy: I saw the stage play many years ago and loved it, Got married in 1976 and had 5 little Saturday’s Warriors, and now have 16 (and counting) Grandchildren. With all that is happening in our country these days, The true meaning of Saturday’s Warrior really hits home. It is going to be their generation who will be the ones to stand and fight in the last days. :)

Feb. 9, 2013 at 7:48pmIt was a pretty “controversial” play for the time… Pro-Family, Anti-Abortion. Your post inspired me to find it on youtube and I sat here this afternoon and watched the whole thing. It was kind of funny to me now, the 80′s clothes and hair (lol) But the messege is timeless and true! The Truth never changes, does it? How I love the Lord’s plan! :)

Feb. 10, 2013 at 3:39amSaturday’s Warrior – that movie has been one of my favorites since I was about 9 and my LDS grandma showed me and my sister her VHS copy of the film. We were just two little Catholic girls and were fascinated! And now here I am, an LDS returned missionary and married in the temple! Yeah for my grandma!!!
That little weatherman is A-dorable!

Feb. 9, 2013 at 4:11pmCute kid. I like how the weather dude had to keep dragging him back and forth to keep the flow of the segment going. It must be tough to have young kids come on and be all over the place. Hats off to the station for even trying something like this.
