CNN Anchor Asks With a Straight Face If Global Warming Is to Blame for Asteroid

“A 150-foot-wide asteroid will come remarkably close to Earth next week, even closer than high-flying communication and weather satellites,” The Associated Press reported earlier this week. “It will be the nearest known flyby for an object of this size.”

And for those of you who want to know more about this floating “megarock,” dubbed “2012 DA14,” CNN’s Deb Feyerick has got you covered. Indeed, she was there on Saturday to ask the tough questions: Did global warming cause this asteroid?

Yup.

“Every time we see a storm like this lately, the first question to pop into a lot of people’s minds is whether or not global warming is to blame?” Feyerick said, referring to snowstorm Nemo.

“I’ll talk to Bill Nye, ‘the science guy,’ about devastating storms and climate change,” she added.

After going to a quick commercial break, the CNN anchor jumped right into discussing climate change and “2012 DA14″ with Nye: “Talk about something else that’s falling from the sky and that is an asteroid. What’s coming our way? Is this an effect of, perhaps, of global warming or is this just some meteoric occasion?”

Oddly enough, Nye — who has made it his mission to challenge what calls scientifically inaccurate claims — didn’t see fit to inform Feyerick that the asteroid has been around for a lot longer than carbon-emitting SUVs and jets.

Maybe he was at a loss for word.

Oh, and in case you were wondering, scientists say the rock “will be at least 17,100 miles away when it zips past next Friday,” the AP notes. So no need to worry.

Honestly, Bill Nye is highly political. I’m sure he was trying very, very, very hard not to wince and rant at her, not because he was at a loss for words per se (though he might have been — really I doubt it though because this is what “his people” — evolutionists, etc. — are like; he’s probably used to it!), but because he is painfully aware (methinks) that she’s a vaulted lib. And you don’t let vaulted libs look stupid even if they just finished doing that better than you ever could anyways.

In other news, I’m going to officially blame black holes, quasars, supernova, and locally comets, Io volcanic eruptions, and solar flares all on global warming. Manmade, that is, of course.

“:modern liberalism” is a subversion of critical thought aka brainwashing, like a cult they are given an ideological conclusion like humans are destroying the planet by causing global warming and instead of using logic and reason a “modern liberal” will try to post rationalize the ideology.. so, anything that threatens the Earth must be global warming caused by man..

Modern liberalism is a brainwashing cult, an ideology that imposes “reality” collectively that renders its members drones…

an ideology subverting the process of reason and logic to maintain that ideological narrative.

It is a cult of confirmation bias… they are lost, gone, drones that can never accept logic and reason…

In every science experiment, you calculate markers for outcome #1 and markers for outcome #2. That way you can subjectively determine if the experiment proved or disproved something.

In the global warming debate, all the markers are judged for outcome #1, and none for outcome #2. Therefore, no matter what happens, it is outcome #1.

Accordingly, this means if I had Diarrhea this morning, it was due to Global Warming. Any respected scientist would find this method has a closer resemblance to what was in the toilet.

It must be true because it is on all the television channels. It must be true because People magazine is covering it. It must be true because [big name actor] says it is.

Well said, indeed. If you follow Rabbi Lapin, he argues then concludes that Liberalism and Progressivism comprise a religion onto itself, and an evil one at that. Have you considered how strikingly similar progressives are to ancient Egyptians? Both are henotheists, worshipping the best positioned to affect the desired outcome of any particular moment in time. The most important god of 2013 is The One, creator of the Great American Transformation. Tomorrow, we will welcome some other soothing tyrant reaching out to the low information masses with yet another brainless, unrealistic, and unsustainable propagandist’s pipe dream designed to placate some primal, emotional void while fitting into a 30-second sound bite. It is no longer arguable truth, but reasonable, objective fact that the Progressive / Liberal operatives in Washington are unambiguous enemies of this nation as founded. First the article said Nye “didn’t see fit” to correct the CNN person, but, funny, they don’t show his response. Looks like selective editing to me. Why comment on his response, but not show it?

Second, if you actually do want to see Nye respond to a clueless FOX anchor, who seemed to the lunar volcanic activity disproved global warming, watch this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ThZsjQatWDs

Third, several posters here suggest that climate change is an issue based on politics, brainwashing and so on. It’s not, it’s about science. Unalien talks about “reason and logic” but doesn’t acknowledge that there is all but universal consensus among climate scientist and people in related fields that climate change is happening and that the human race is contributing. When you are unable to even recognize the virtual universal acceptance of that idea among people capable of understanding the issue, and instead blame “brainwashing,” you are the one who has been brainwashed.

      http://www.skepticalscience.com/global-warming-scientific-consensus.htm

“…the debate on the authenticity of global warming and the role played by human activity is largely nonexistent among those who understand the nuances and scientific basis of long-term climate processes”

Sorry, you are the indoctrinated ideological propagandist that I speak of.The term consensus is not a scientific one , it is political and any legitimate scientist or individual learned in reason and logic knows that it is fallacy. “Manmade global warming” is a valid hypothesis, scientifically unproven and elevated through the lens of politics and ideology to advance an ideology and rewards those that promote it.

UNALIEN, you’re asking me to describe the evidence for climate change in 1000 words or less? I provided you with some nice links, and there’s plenty of information out there written by scientists – not Rush Limbaugh where you evidently get your science. But you want me to explain it to you instead?

I don’t think you do. If you wanted to try to understand climate change – despite your lack of knowledge of physical sciences – you’d have read more, instead of getting your science from FOX news broadcasters or uneducated AM radio hosts. You’re thoroughly brainwashed, but, to give you credit, you may lack the knowledge to actually understand the issues. That seems to be the case.

Perhaps if you learned something about climate change, then there would be a particular finding of climate scientists you disagree with. That at least would show you aren’t totally brainwashed by and Rush Limbaugh and have some glimmer of learning, logic or reasoning.

I’ll give you the benefit of the doubt and assume you don’t have the knowledge of physical science to understand the issues.

Anyways, by now the “white lies” of the anthrowarmists have been thoroughly exposed. They didn’t really hold to those views anyways, so the consensus was apparently mostly fake. It was intentional deception. And you know it. This doesn’t come from Rush Limbaugh, though he’s one of the few that has been honest about it — it comes from the deceiving scientists themselves. Please research East Anglia (probably you’re well aware of it already, but for some reason you don’t care about the truth?).

Actually, I would wager that the deception that’s been exposed is actually just a tiny percentage of how much has been perpetrated… Thankfully there was at least one bold whistleblower for this one. Just think of how much else may have been perpetrated.

If you don’t believe me that this could be widespread, notice the admission from Lewontin here:
      http://creation.com/evolutionary-stasis
“Scientists, like others, sometimes tell deliberate lies, because they believe that small lies can serve big truths.”
“Truths”, of course, referring to the liberal “make your own reality” kind of subjective ‘truth’ that is really just self-deception.

look dude, your adolescent Marxist games don’t work. It just proves that you are an ideologue.. You had the opportunity to express WHY you think and you CHOSE to run and hide like a child.. I studied the science and found no proof of AGW,, So, what convinced you, in your mind, that AGW is a fact and destructive, you don’t have to detail the science, just explain your logic… drones don’t use logic, they just follow the ideological narrative, where reality is directed and controlled externally and accepted without any critical evaluation…..

So, what logic has convinced you that AGW is a fact and dangerous to humanity.

WE are just trying to free you people from your cult… to become free individual critical thinkers…

Unalien, run and hide? I’ve responded to all your posts. And you want to free me and the 95% of climate scientists and people in related fields who believe in AGW? You’ve got brass, I’ll admit.

When I read post like yours I”m reminded of a study I read once. Children were given tests on certain skills and then and then asked how well they did. In general, the children who did the worst on the tests judged that they had done very well on the test, and the opposite was true for the more knowledgeable kids. The poor performers had no basis for judging how little they knew. You can’t even give a single idea of evidence for AGW you disagree with, while judging yourself more knowledgeable than than people who actually understand the issues. Classic.

The problem with explaining the issues with you is that there is no basis for discussion (especially since you refuse to give any). You have to understand greenhouse gasses (something understood for the last 150 years), the fact that humans are putting close to 9 billion metric tons into the Earth’s razor thin atmosphere, feedback mechanism such as the reduced albedo of the Earth from melting ice, that warmer oceans mean more evaporation of water vapor (also a greenhouse gas) and so on.

There’s no basis for discussion. If you don’t know algebra, you aren’t going to understand calculus. Naturally, the less you know, the easier to imagine you know everything. Just like the kids in that experiment.

“The poor performers had no basis for judging how little they knew.”
Sadly you have described yourself, Send…

The fact is that the “evidence” for anthrowarming was -faked-. It was outed, Send. In reality, global temperatures have varied. In recent years they have gone down. Every major “scientific” prediction of the warmers has proven false.

You have a beginner’s understanding of the global climate. That is awesome, but the saying is very apt for you, “A little knowledge is a dangerous thing.” I’ve often noticed this pattern in people like you; you study just enough to feel more knowledgeable than the average layman, and you leap to the assumption that your conclusion (which will tend to just happen to be whatever is the “populist” or liberal one, uncritically) is true. Yet you have failed to consider countless other factors, so your prideful boasting is not warranted.

The best science we have appears to show that manmade global warming is simply not occurring, aside from a possible change that is so slight the sun will more likely explode before it would become a problem. Worse, the major alleged engine of it, carbon dioxide, is grossly misunderstood (long story short, it sinks when its temperature normalizes, and fosters greater plant growth to compensate, balancing it out).

Ultimately, the clearest disproof goes back to the fact that it was faked. If it was real, they would have used real evidence.

Very convincing, if your in the 4th grade or a drone…

The GHE is legitimate and the increase in CO2 from humans is true, the rest is hypothesis, though valid it is not proof of AGW. It is theory, the problem lies in the general field of climate science, It isn’t a hard science, and people who go into the field tend to be ideological leftist and believe in AGW prior. So, the bias is pro AGW, ask a realtor if it a good time to buy a house, YES, always. So expert consensus is a fallacy. However, how does “climate science” work, data is collected, shared and theories are created to fit the data or the data is created to fit the theory. Hypothesis are developed, but since there is only one Earth, you can’t do a scientific experiment that proves AGW. How did the hypothesis get elevated to fact. Correlation between CO2 and temperature rise was used to claim causation, A fallacy. 99% of the atmospheric gases are Water Vapour and Nitrogen, 0.036% is CO2, How much of that is Manmade? insignificant. The other error is found in the IPCCs mandate, they only look at human-induced, they ignore all other sources of climate effects. It isn’t science it is propaganda… the logical flaw is taking a single minor variable out of a complex and dynamic system and attributing cause base on assumptions and correlation or hypothesis.

Can you explain the science that proves the tiny amount of human CO2 causes warming and all other factors don’t affect the climate.

“Correlation between CO2 and temperature rise was used to claim causation, A fallacy.”
Just to elaborate on that for anyone reading along, as a logician. Specifically the fallacy is “false cause”. It is the assumption that because X happens, and then Y happens, this proves X caused Y. This is one of the absolute most important fallacies for scientists to realize. Nearly the whole scientific method is specifically designed to avoid making this mistake, but it was NOT applied by AGW promoters, including the “scientists” who supported it.

Prior to the anthrowarmers were the anthrocoolers, let’s not forget, and they also had records of CO2 rising, accompanying a -drop- in temperature. They took this false cause correlation to mean the opposite of the anthrowarmers, but they both made the same mistake. And now, even as CO2 has continued to rise, global temperatures have gone down again.

Also, known C02 outputs from human technology is a miniscule percentage of what is actually contributing anyways. Most of it is from natural sources, beyond our control. We could abandon all of our technology, breathe out into tanks to collect it and send the CO2 to Mars rather than our atmosphere, slaughter all the cows (lol), and even still, a volcano could erupt spewing more of it at once than we could have imagined, and it’s all for naught.

Bottom line is, it’s not worth worrying about or ruining our economy over. Period.

UNALIEN, you’ve at least started to make sense. You’ve gone from saying the evidence for AGW is all propaganda to saying saying the evidence “does not prove” AGW. That’s an improvement. Good for you. However you still say that “people who go into the field [climate science or related fields] tend to be ideological leftist and believe in AGW prior. Of course, you just made that up out of thin air – shame on you. And it shows your bias that the +95% of scientists who disagree with you on this issue only do say because of their liberal bias. That’s false.

You say climate science isn’t “hard science.” What does that mean? Is astronomy not a hard science because we can’t create stars of different masses and observe their evolution over a few billion years? Is meteorology not a “hard science” because we can’t predict when and where each raindrop will fall? Is geology not a hard science because we can’t create worlds with different amounts of the different elements and see which form a solid land surface and which don’t?

You can’t “prove” anything in science UNALIEN. You seem to have abandoned the idea that the climate isn’t actually changing. That’s good. You seem to understand that releasing the billions of tons of CO2 into the atmosphere will effect the climate, but you think the effect is insignificant. Good, you’ve gotten that far. You seem to understand feedback effect like increased water vapor in the atmosphere. You’re getting th
