Nancy Pelosi: Violent Movies & Video Games Arent the Problem, Gun Laws Are

(Photo: Fox News)

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) defended Hollywood and the video game industry on Fox News Sunday with Chris Wallace, arguing that gun violence is more likely to go down with strict laws than a shift in forms of entertainment.

Wallace began by saying that “we don’t need another study.”  We know that games and movies “where people have their heads splattered” aren’t exactly healthy for young children.

“Why don’t you go to your friends in Hollywood and challenge them, shame them, and say, ‘Knock it off’?” he asked Pelosi.

The lawmaker responded: “Well, I do think whatever we do, because when you talk about evidence-based, we have that throughout our proposal. In other words, we don’t want to just anecdotally writing bills. We want to have the evidence to say –.”

At that point Wallace interrupted, noting again that she has “a lot of friends” in Hollywood and could wield significant influence if she chose.

“I do think — see, I understand what you’re saying,” Pelosi said. “I’m a mother, I’m a grandmother… But the evidence says that — in Japan, for example, they have the most violent games and the lowest death, mortality from guns.  I don’t know what the explanation is for that except they may have good gun laws.”

Pelosi proceeded to explain how banning the sale of “assault weapons” will keep us safer, mistakenly saying how much Democrats “avow the First Amendment” and believe Americans have a right to arm themselves (presumably she meant to say Second Amendment).

Watch the Fox News clip, via the Weekly Standard, below:

In addition to the gun comments, Pelosi also said that “It is almost a false argument to say we have a spending problem. We have a budget deficit problem that we have to address.” But throughout the interview, Wallace pressed: “The bottom line, Congresswoman, is you can’t raise taxes enough to solve the deficit problem.”

Just another blabbering leftwing pig – she needs to get some more botox, maybe some more boobs, and some more **** coloring and everything else that needs lifting and fixing. I am sure the botox traveled right on up to her brain and shrank it – oh wait first she would have to have a brain. How can any human being be so flipping stupid?

We cannot compare ourselves to the Japanese, they’re a different culture with different values. When Japan was hit with the tsunami there were not riots, no looting. The Japanese when going trough the debris to find any remnants of their lost items wouldn’t pick up items that didn’t belong to them. That wouldn’t happen here.

I can understand why democrats want us disarmed. If I was as guilty of treason as every democrat is, I’d want those who are holding me accountable to be disarmed also. Anyone who wants you disarmed is either guilty of something or wants to control you/do something to you that requires you to be defenseless because they know you won’t do it willingly, must be forced.

Time is coming they’re going to reap what they sow.

Yep, sticking up for the constituency…might as well put a plug in for the pornography industry to say condoms are a personal choice.

Nancy, YOU are the PROBLEM. Who wouldnt want to be outgunned in the California mountains with the heavily armed psychopath the PC types created when they made the goal for PDs to reflect the populace rather than hiring the most qualified applicants (who happened to be white males).

Uhhhh….Isn’t that exactly what Feinstein’s is? A bill that was anecdotally written without any evidence!? We haven’t found any evidence that supports a link between video games/movie violence and actual violence? But we have all kinds of evidence that more gun laws will work?? What the hell is this incohearant boob talking about!???

Gun laws are the problem! Too many gun laws are the problem! Constitutional Carry (which is what 2A protects) is what we need, Open Carry and Discreet Carry is the way to go. Arizona, Vermont, Alaska and Wyoming have the right idea! So long as you are not a convicted felon, awaiting a felony trial, nutso, over 16, yes **16 and have taken and passed a mandatory NRA shooters course you should be allowed to open carry or discreet carry. I prefer open carry, sometimes not.

    Gun Free Zones=Easy Targets

    * 2012 stats http://actionamerica.org/guns/gun-web-widget.shtml

** 32,367 Traffic Deaths United States 2011 and 16 year olds are allowed to operate a motor vehicle…

Nancy when you and the govt are willing to give up your “assault” weapons THEN I will turn in mine. I trust the founding father’s wisdom and guidance. You have NO authority over my gun as long as I use it responsibly what other’s do isn’t my concern or responsibility. “I would rather be exposed to the inconveniences attending too much liberty than to those attending too small degree of it”.

The explanation Nancy is that the kids in Japan respect their teachers, family and police. The kids study their butts off12 hrs or more a day and go on to college. Also almost all of them have a complete family unit.

Pelosi, you’re a ” Pacifist”… Such a society would achieve the opposite of its intention: instead of abolishing evil, it would encourage and reward it.

It is a great scam when you think about it, the left subverts and demoralizes through the culture keeping the masses in a perpetual state of phycological adolescence and economic dependency THEN claims the problem is solved by more laws, less freedoms and liberty and a bigger more powerful State… not the culture,no no no

did anybody hear about the new tax breaks for Hollywood….

Could you diagram that sentence for me, Nancy? This is the way you always talk – an incomprehensible series of phrases that trail off to nothing. Man, is it annoying! You should stick to simple sentences and stop trying to talk like a legal brief.
And by the way, violent video games and movies definitely are a part of this national discussion.

Wallace, great question, but you already know the answer. Nancy can’t ask her friends in Hollywood to do that because then she would lose a lot of donations to her campaigns.

    Ha!

Wouldn’t we all, and the world at large, be better off if the old hag had a single action derringer gun and accidentally offed herself?
Would that be treated as an unfortunate legislative action or gun violence?

Hollywood is run by liberals. Dems are liberals (communists to be more precise). Nancy is running misdirection for her dear friends and voters in Hollywood (Hellyweed) by pointing her knarled finger anywhere but there. She’s consistently UNquoteable. She can’t speak coherently. She has been immersed in the leftwing political cesspool for so long that I doubt she is even capable of speaking truthfully. She has mastered the art of lying. Incoherent lying, but lying just the same. This woman claims to be a devout Catholic, but she sure doesn’t walk the talk. She’s gung-ho for the “right” to kill your offspring if they’re an inconvenience (which accounts for 99.2% of all abortions). I don’t recall that right being listed anywhere in the Bill of Rights. Gun ownership is though. She won’t let a little thing like that stand in her way. She’s going to stick to her guns (pun intended) with the full knowledge that an unarmed populace is much easier to oppress, which is of course the goal of the democratic communist party. Personally, I think they should drop the “democratic” moniker because they don’t resemble or represent it in the least.
