Which Cable News Host Asked Guests If They Thought There Was ‘Anything Offensive’ in Ben Carson’s Speech?

World-renowned neurosurgeon Dr. Benjamin Carson grabbed headlines early this week when he gave a speech in front of President Barack Obama at the National Prayer Breakfast attacking political correctness and many of the domestic policies that have expanded the federal government over the last four years. The 25-minute faith-filled address tackled issues from education to personal responsibility, with video of the event quickly going viral leading to praise from conservative audiences and column in the Wall Street Journal titled ‘Ben Carson for President.’ Among most publications considered to be left-leaning though, the buzz-worthy speech went underreported or ignored. Left-of-center Fox News commentators Bob Beckel and Kirsten Powers called the speech “disgraceful,” and “incredibly rude to the president.”

On CNN’s State of the Union Sunday, host Candy Crowley went so far to ask guests if they found “anything offensive” from Carson’s speech considering the venue where he gave his remarks.

“I think that there is a political correctness that he was trying to use to appeal to a conservative audience,” Illinois Democratic Rep. Jan Schakowsky responded. “I think it’s really–not really an appropriate place to make this kind of political speech, and to invoke God as his support for that kind of view.

“But, I think most of all the kind of message that he was giving shows a real empathy gap of where the American people are right now, and I think it’s reflective of where many of the Republicans and Tea Parties are right now in that–we need to have an economy that works for everyone.”

Earlier in the segment former Republican Texas Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchinson compared a Carson speech clip where he discussed taxation through a Biblical view, to a prayer breakfast in the 1990s she described as “uncomfortable” when Mother Theresa spoke out extensively against abortion in front of Bill and Hillary Clinton. However, Hutchinson said Carson’s point on political correctness was “a great message.” Watch a clip of the segment compiled by NewsBusters below:

Well, we have enough evidence to convict Dr Carson of being a Christian, if that’s a crime (if not today, then soon no doubt). If he were not a black man, he would also be called a racist, by default, since he dared to disagree with the emperor. But he was not rude in any sense. He simply spoke the truth to power, and made a perfectly reasonable case for freedom.

  I’m glad you ran this story because in 2007 another black man spoke up an dtalked about Fox news and I went over to see what he was talking about and did some checking up and haven’t been back to CNN since. All smart full blood African Americans must be destroyed or you can’t use the race cards. On top of this you have a Dr. that is a nureosurgen. Money can buy a Law Degree and a Dr’s license but to actually use the license is a different story.

  Remember Herman Cain – he had to be destroyed or Obama would have lost . He was a CEO and had actually ran a company but he didn’t think the Democratic party would actually find his friend & lover and buy her off and she would even consider taking it.   For some reason these lefties don’t understand that being free is a Christian principle. Christ didn’t come to earth and force the jews to believe. They chose to turn away and he let them be. Likewise trying force every person into one economic standard is not helpful to the individual. The lefties don’t get it. Being responsible, working hard to care for your family is Christian. Welfare/redistribution of wealth is simply legalized theft. It is robbing individuals of the rewards that come from being responsible and working hard.

  My neighbor, directly across the street, is a USMC veteran and now a successful contractor working for DoD. He is also black. He is also very conservative. Before the November elections he saw my Mitt sticker on my vehicle and commented how he wished he could put a Mitt sticker on his vehicle. I asked why he wouldn’t. His reply surprised me.
  
  He said he wouldn’t be able to take his vehicle home to visit family. He said as a Conservative black man, he can not express his conservatism where he grew up. He said “it must be nice” to be white and put whatever Conservative in my car. He didn’t say it with a smile. He was dead serious. He couldn’t put any Mitt signs in his yard. No Mitt stickers on his vehicle. His entire house was devoid of anything political.
  
  He didn’t do this because of what whites would think. He did this because of what blacks would think.

  Why is it that Conservative Black Americans are some of the most successful, articulate and classy people you can see address any group of people?   You know what I find offensive? Is this dishonest journalist from CNN, that she is think to be one. Offensive was when she help Obama cheat and lie in front of million during the first debate, and embarrassed Romney. And guess what? Some people in FOX news seems to agreed with her, I stop watch FOX because the political correctness.   Dr. Carson explained that he wasn’t a democrat or a republican, but rather he was an independant from the logic party. I’ve already heard the attacks from the left, and the media. Anybody who threatens their way of life gets attacked. That should be a pretty good indication that what the man said was truthful. If you get attacked its because your a threat. I think that there is something wrong with people like Beckel and Powers. Why do they consider it rude to the president? Can they be so brainwashed as to think that he knows everything. It’s about time that more people stand up to Odumbo and his idiocy. He is slowly destroying this republic. I can’t believe that all the people in the media truly believe him. They must be minions or sheep to blindly follow such an arrogant man that is almost always wrong. Perhaps as Dr. Carson mentioned it should be a requirement that for a job in the media that one must read two books per week. If we just educate these minions then maybe they could find and report the truth.

According to what I’ve seen on the left-wing sites, these sites have taken it apon themselves to try to bury this story and the speech. The people who comment on these sites, however, have been supportive of Dr Carson and sometimes critical of the blog’s actions.

As a very rough overall estimate, I would say that support for Dr Carson would be around the 75% mark on these left-wing sites.

This seems to indicate that ordinary people who normally support democrats are also getting fed up with the current state of affairs. It seems that many are also becoming frightened by the collossal level of debt and the unrestrained borrowing and spending.

I think America, as a whole, is starting to react.

My faith in your nation and your people remains undiminished

  I believe you are correct, but I’d like to make a couple of observations.
  
  The level of disgust regarding debt levels is a two edged sword. It could mean the folks are coming around, or (if the media found it) it may be used to semi use the right wing – it’s Bush’s fault.
  
  The fact that the readers comments are favorable would be more satisfying if the blogs had it as a headline. This suggests the media hasn’t come around, and that us still concerting.
  
  We all know that the majority if the left is being used my the minority to get the agenda moving forward. The minority is Ms Piven, Mssrs Ayers, Soros, Jones, et al.
  
  It is possible that the system is already in place, mostly so, and that the ‘useful idiots’ are no longer needed.
  
  However, the arrogant always make a mistake and often over reach… We can only hope this is the case.

If only Bob Beckel, Kirsten Powers, and Candy Crowley would have had an early influence or father such as Dr. Ben Carson they would not have to slither out from the rocks the live under and would feel the sting of shame in their black hearts and ignorant cold souls.

Dr. Carson was speaking from his loving experiences, depth of spirit and intelligent functioning mind to anyone with eyes to see and ears to hear the reality of the situation in America and how easy I can be to fix. The politicians keep saying it’s hard and complicated, but it isn’t once all corruption is removed and the Constitution and Truth are applied. He is a blessed man and was sharing his blessings with all.

  I think Ms Hutchinson introduced the bill that eased Texas carry laws after the Luby Cafeteria shootings in Killeen. I agree that she has become a Washington insider but she did some good. She is a good example of why we need to work at the local and state level to put conservatives in our legislatures and why we need term limits.

I guess everyone forgets the rude assault obama did in his state of the union speech where he attacked the Justices of the Supreme Court. Or the speech he gave, invited Congressman Ryan to sit front row and then attacked him. Dr. Carson and his views have been around for many years. He is not a new black conservative on the scene, unless you are blind and deaf. He was invited to the prayer breakfast for a reason. Figure it out fans.
