Which Cable News Host Asked Guests If They Thought There Was ‘Anything Offensive’ in Ben Carson’s Speech?

World-renowned neurosurgeon Dr. Benjamin Carson grabbed headlines early this week when he gave a speech in front of President Barack Obama at the National Prayer Breakfast attacking political correctness and many of the domestic policies that have expanded the federal government over the last four years. The 25-minute faith-filled address tackled issues from education to personal responsibility, with video of the event quickly going viral leading to praise from conservative audiences and column in the Wall Street Journal titled ‘Ben Carson for President.’ Among most publications considered to be left-leaning though, the buzz-worthy speech went underreported or ignored. Left-of-center Fox News commentators Bob Beckel and Kirsten Powers called the speech “disgraceful,” and “incredibly rude to the president.”

On CNN’s State of the Union Sunday, host Candy Crowley went so far to ask guests if they found “anything offensive” from Carson’s speech considering the venue where he gave his remarks.

“I think that there is a political correctness that he was trying to use to appeal to a conservative audience,” Illinois Democratic Rep. Jan Schakowsky responded. “I think it’s really–not really an appropriate place to make this kind of political speech, and to invoke God as his support for that kind of view.

“But, I think most of all the kind of message that he was giving shows a real empathy gap of where the American people are right now, and I think it’s reflective of where many of the Republicans and Tea Parties are right now in that–we need to have an economy that works for everyone.”

Earlier in the segment former Republican Texas Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchinson compared a Carson speech clip where he discussed taxation through a Biblical view, to a prayer breakfast in the 1990s she described as “uncomfortable” when Mother Theresa spoke out extensively against abortion in front of Bill and Hillary Clinton. However, Hutchinson said Carson’s point on political correctness was “a great message.” Watch a clip of the segment compiled by NewsBusters below:

In CONTROL, Glenn Beck presents a passionate, fact-based case for guns that reveals why gun control isn’t really about controlling guns at all; it’s about controlling us. Find out more HERE.

If he or anyone else had gone off on a Republican in an actually disrespectful manner including profanity and personal insults, these same people would be applauding him as some new great folk hero.

If you have an opinion, or assert your right to assemble with others that think the same way, the media wants to call you “offensive”?

For the most part, the “media”, not all of it, makes its money from entertainment? Does every gun shot in a movie inspire you to shoot someone? No. Should there be fine for every gun shot in a movie? Yes, in the absence of a good guy not looking good? It’s not the gun shot that bothers people, its the plot? It’s the 20 minutes of video that explain the weeks of planning that murder took?

It’s not the kiss on tv that inspires infidelity? Its the twenty minutes of video that explains the emotional weakness of the man or woman, the person of opportunity, and how fate or manipulation brings them together? We are told to guard our minds? How can you if the majority of shows in the media geared for entertainment, motivate our fears?

A writer says to himself, what could I do, to bring your darkest fear to life? An emotionally disturbed person says to himself, what is the most disturbing thing I could to to make “x, y, z” miserable, so that I might (but will not of course) feel better? Somtimes its not a gun shot, its a government regulation or fine?

Population control, disasters, etc? We are here in spite of these things, not because of them? This is how careless politics is enacted, ignoring growing populations of minds that solve problems?

    Mutually assured destruction of fear?

So, according to the lib moron at the end of the clip, Dr. Carson was just being politically correct and, like the TEA Party, has no empathy for the poor. Also, Dr. Carson was wrong because “we need an economy that works for everyone”.

“… the kind of message that he was giving shows a real empathy gap of where the American people are right now…”

All this empathy is going to drive us straight to the poor house as a nation!

I can’t stand this kind of tripe from liberal and here’s why:

    1) The blab on and on about how anyone with a different viewpoint hates old people/children/the sick but…

    2) Their own policies are the ones running the programs that help those people into the ground.

Simple facts: Medicare/Medicaid/Social Security and the rest are ALL GOING BANKRUPT the only question is when exactly it will happen. But it is 100% guaranteed it will happen if the status quo is not changed.

Here’s the deal: we either square our balance sheets, or we end up like Greece. If that happens, every single person (who’s not a billionaire) in this country is SCREWED.

It seems to me that Democrats are willing to sacrifice the entire nation down the road for a cheap political victory today. To do that, they smear anyone who has half a brain as a racist or hater of children or the elderly or whatever.

It’s disgusting and it’s dereliction of duty.

I find it amusing that Carson’s gentle comments are considered to be so disrespectful to BO. He didn’t call him out by name or even hint that he was dissing on BO. He just stated his views. BO has no problem being directly rude and derogatory to people right in their presence and in settings where they have no chance to respond. This is such a stretch and a deliberate attempt to gin up discontent where none should be present. Isn’t that exactly what Carson talked about in the speech? The great benefit, though, is that I wouldn’t have seen the wonderful speech if it had not been for the ginned up controversy.

Im not sure how pointing out someones ignorant ideology is rude. Someone explain it to me. I guess Bob and Crowley missed the part of the speech that was about political correctness, because here they are spouting the very crap he was talking about.

Dr. Ben Carson’s full presentation at the prayer breakfast:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vyyHegP255g

President “O” is second from the left and in full view through the entire speech on this CSPAN version. Michelle is third to the left just beyond the view of the camera for most of the presentation, but her hands (clapping quite a bit) are visible throughout.

An earlier, very similar presentation is available here:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4-8NRSfk_a8

It is an interview recorded by Penn State University, posted to Utube 3/7/2010

I believe strongly Dr. Carson is real and is not on a revered surgeon, but a man with true purpose and common sense grown out of his experience as a REAL AMERICAN. A Seventh Day Adventist, I can accept Dr. Carson’s love for God and His Will exactly as he presents it.

God, please bless the United States of America and teach us to pray and fast for Your purposes.

Asked if anything was offensive? Well, if you heard Dr. Carson’s speech, that was one the exact topics he discussed. She did exactly what he talked about our society doing much of, that is destroying discussion and idea exchange.

To all Americans of whatever race your ancestors were and are. The race card of Afro-American, Euro-American, Asian-American, Mexican-American, and at this point, Im sorry, but also Native American needs to go…we just need Americans. We can respect our past but we need to get on with our future. Too much at stake to divide ourselves. This divisiveness is a ploy to herd us like cattle.

“Meanwhile, from the moment when the Americans refused to exchange dollars for gold during the 1970s (they turned the printing press on), the dollar turned into plain paper. The U.S. Reserve System currently makes money on the difference between the nominal value of bills and the cost of its production. Let’s assume that the cost of a 100-dollar note is 10 cents, so the net profit from it will be 99 dollars 90 cents. Neither drug lords nor arms dealers could ever dream of such profits. For 48 years, people have been giving gold, oil, gas, timber and so on for pieces of American paper. That’s what the U.S. Federal Reserve does to the world.”

“In other words, this is what the Americans are doing to the world?”
