As President Obama Promises to ‘Pivot’ to Jobs & Economy, Food Stamp Enrollment Skyrockets

Here’s a stat you rarely (if ever) hear about: The three-month delayed figure regarding food stamp and disability enrollment.

Why do you suppose this number goes largely unreported? Could it have anything to do with the fact that it may reflect poorly on Washington?

Consider the following (via Zero Hedge):

Since [President Obama’s] inauguration, the US has generated just 841,000 jobs through November 2012, a number [that] is more than dwarfed by the 17.3 million new [food stamps] and disability recipients added to the rolls in the past 4 years.

Yes, you read that correctly: 17.3 million.

But wait! There’s more.

“And since the start of the depression in December 2007, America has seen those on [food stamps] and disability increase by 21.8 million, while losing 3.6 million jobs,” the report adds.

The following charts from the Hedge will help you visualize the expensive and growing trend toward government assistance.

What does it all mean?

It means that as of November 2012, the total number of food stamp recipients is 47.7 million, “an increase of 141,000 from the prior month, and reversing the brief downturn in October, while total US households on [food stamps] just hit an all time record of 23,017,768, an increase of 73,952 from the prior month,” the report explains.

And here’s the part that should have you worried: “The cost to the government to keep these 23 million households content and not rising up? $281.21 per month per household.”

But don’t worry. The president says he’s ready to “pivot” back to focusing on jobs and the economy — again [h/t Byron York]:

  47% of Americans do not pay federal income tax, plus the people getting government handouts, I think we are there. This has been the Democrats dream for years to have more takers than makers. What really worries me is , we may never have a Republican President again because of the large number of people on the public dole. The mid-term election in 2014, is going to be the most important election in America’s history. If the Democrats have a majority in the house and the senate, America is over as we know it. Democrats will be running wild with no way to stop then, they will pass big spending bills to buy votes in 2016.

The President has had plenty of time that he could have work on the economy but he preferred to ruin the greatest healthcare system in the World. I hope he is reminded of this as one of his own might get sick someday and it will weigh heavily on his mind what he has done to others and if not then, then when he is older or sicker and ready to meet the Lord. He has bullied just as many as he wants to stop with regulations, etc……..truth not lies….love not hate

Does anyone else find it strange that the “D” scream for joy when 355,000+ a month join the ranks of being unemployed? Of course a week later that number is revised upward and reported on page Z25 of the newspaper. Another thing… the other night one of my younger employees was watching MTV on his break. It was one of the teen loser programs about 16 year olds having b*stards. The moron had her wisdom teeth pulled and her father drove her to the pharmacy and forgot to get her Medicaid card. Then drove her to her townhome which he had to move her new car because she hadn’t pulled up close to the two car garage. Then he had to carry all her “supplies” downstairs so she could watch movies on her HUGE flat screen TV. Wow the NEW American dream!

There will come a point to where no numbers amount of number shuffling, data manipulation, and outright data omission will be able to stop the inevitable. The simple fact will be that it will take $10 to buy a loaf of bread and welfare recipients won’t have anything of value to offer for that loaf of bread (or most won ‘t even be able to bake a loaf of bread if they needed to). Most of those who attended Harvard and Yale will be close to worthless and those who attended the “inferior” trade schools will be priceless. You will be the one to protect yourself and the police will be unable to help. Can nobody see this pain coming down the pipe?

The common denominator of all dictators is oil. Obama has a grand plan for his third term. He needs the oil companies to support his third term. He will issue unlimited drilling permits for oil & natural gas companies right here in America if they support his third term. (Oil permits are worth BILLIONS and would go straight into Obama’s pocket). He needs to expand the welfare crowd so he will have a majority of low information voters to support his third term. Those voters will exceed the number of value producing hard working Americans.

  Snowleopard, you are 200% correct. The noose is tightning. As a small business owner, I’ve struggled to keep my door open to provide service to the many systems I have in the field. Gas is killing us, customers are late paying or not. My husband and I cannot afford anything but the bare necessities. We live without. No cable, no wide screen TV’s, no health care, a twelve year old car with 220K miles. We struggle to make ends meet, so there’s no wonder more and more people are on food stamps, welfare, as Obama is forcing all of us on this. We’ve managed to stay alive thanks to our family, but we’re running out of fuel. We’re out of energy, money, and the stress is playing a heavy toll. Our small business originated in 2004 and in 2009 we could see the writing on the wall. Obama is not interested in helping small business. He could care less about us.
  We wrote Obama in 2009 as we were about to lose our home. 2010 we did. This not only was our home, it was our office and work area. The response to our problems was nothing more then BS and he didn’t touch on the subject of our demise. He’s worthless and pushing us into a communist country. We have no idea how much longer we can survive, but this is what Obama wants and why he think Obama Care is so fine. It’s as disgusting as the ground he walks on. God save the USA from Marxism.

  This is my opinion only, I hold we have, as a nation, not seen true evil firsthand for so long of a time we needed a reminder of how precious our freedoms are. Hence Obama has been allowed to do his dirty work yet has been kept in check by God as America wakes up to the truth.
  
  Events are coming to a head and the House of Obama is under judgement; its only the “when” as to them falling once and for all as God commands to occur for their crimes.
  
  Look at all Obama and the progressives have attempted, and the slow pace they have accomplished this especially when they had absolute power for two solid years. Only God could be hindering them so efficiently by His will and with His people in the places He has them to be across the nation.
  
  If anything starts the chaos or the ‘event’ Obama wants to have happen for the final crackdown on the nation, look for it to come from the left. Over the weekend the FBI stopped a man from bombing a bank in an effort to start the civil war of the government cracking down on the tea party. The man is a member of the radical leftists.

I am clearly confused. I was under the impression from the DNC that the economy was doing just fine and that the Repubs were miss representing the facts. I mean didn’t Nancy Pelosi just say “Washington doesn’t have a spending problem.” Certainly The Blaze must be blowing this out of proportion. After all, 21.8 million people is such a nominal amount.

  RJJING…Obama’s trying a new economic approach, it’s called “the perpetual campaign” theory. See…the theory is that if a president does nothinig but say he’s going to “pivot” to focus on jobs on as many appearances as possible throughout his tenure in office…then magically the jobs will begin appearing. He’s already tried clicking his heels together but his ruby slippers didn’t deliver. Perhaps if he twitches his nose a la Samantha Stevens from Bewitched?
  
  Obama has the dubious distinction of being the only president to not recoup the jobs lost from before a recession. He’s still at a deficit of jobs from the peak of Bush’s tenure. He has not added ANY new jobs to the economy. Perhaps this 38th effort to “pivot” to “focus like a laser on jobs” will be it?

When I look at the disgrace in the White House and the morons surrounding him I see hitler and his army. They are destroying freedom.
