As President Obama Promises to ‘Pivot’ to Jobs & Economy, Food Stamp Enrollment Skyrockets
Here’s a stat you rarely (if ever) hear about: The three-month delayed figure regarding food stamp and disability enrollment.
Why do you suppose this number goes largely unreported? Could it have anything to do with the fact that it may reflect poorly on Washington?
Consider the following (via Zero Hedge):
Since [President Obama’s] inauguration, the US has generated just 841,000 jobs through November 2012, a number [that] is more than dwarfed by the 17.3 million new [food stamps] and disability recipients added to the rolls in the past 4 years.
Yes, you read that correctly: 17.3 million.
But wait! There’s more.
“And since the start of the depression in December 2007, America has seen those on [food stamps] and disability increase by 21.8 million, while losing 3.6 million jobs,” the report adds.
The following charts from the Hedge will help you visualize the expensive and growing trend toward government assistance.
First, the total number of people on food stamps:
Second, a look at the monthly change in food stamp enrollment and job creation starting December 2007:
Lastly, a look at the growing gap between job creation and enrollment in government assistance programs:
What does it all mean?
It means that as of November 2012, the total number of food stamp recipients is 47.7 million, “an increase of 141,000 from the prior month, and reversing the brief downturn in October, while total US households on [food stamps] just hit an all time record of 23,017,768, an increase of 73,952 from the prior month,” the report explains.
And here’s the part that should have you worried: “The cost to the government to keep these 23 million households content and not rising up? $281.21 per month per household.”
But don’t worry. The president says he’s ready to “pivot” back to focusing on jobs and the economy — again [h/t Byron York]:
- “Obama to return to jobs and the economy” (Washington Post, Feb. 10, 2013)
- “President Obama pivots to jobs — and dares GOP to follow” (Politico, Sep. 8, 2011)
- “After bruising debt battle, Obama pivots to jobs agenda” (Agence France Presse, Aug. 3, 2011)
- “Obama pivots from bin Laden’s death to economy” (Reuters, May 7, 2011)
- “Obama Pivots to Job Creation With Few Tools to Spur Growth” (Bloomberg, Aug. 10, 2011)
- “Obama pivots to job creation in speech” (San Francisco Chronicle, Jan. 28, 2010)
- “Obama pivots to the economy and jobs” (Christian Science Monitor, January 8, 2010)

Posted on February 12, 2013 at 11:59amIt’s amazing how many people accept such rubbish. Must stem from an apathy that there is simply nothing they can do about it. Rather than drag this lingering death out, we need to either get busy with living or get on about dying.

Posted on February 12, 2013 at 11:08amOur president does not seem to be worried about unemployment going up after demobilizing troops in the middle east. The sequester will certainly do that for people in and out of uniform. The Left has believed for years that war revives the economy, but it seems that the long running Middle East engagements is not reviving our economy. I wonder how they plan to explain this besides it is the previous president’s fault. The left also clings to the theory that government spending revives the economy but we never get an idea of how long it will take to see the positive benefits. If the government could really modulate the economy in a positive way, why would it ever stop modulating the economy?

Posted on February 12, 2013 at 9:22amPreviewing yet another hour of Barry’s lies. This fatherless child is doing exactly what he is told to do by George Soros…flood the system with eaters …use government to destroy the producers….fill the national government with barbarians only loyal to their “patron” slant every single executive action to funnel huge payoffs to the Soros led group of billionaire thugs like Soros, Buffet, and Immelt, eliminate the USA as anything but a third world manure pile, and create a free-fall currency devaluation like Brittan during the 1990′s from which Soros will make yet another 10 or 20 billion before Georgie retires to his pre reserved throne “down-under…”
There…that is the True state of the Union… Encapsulating it in two words: “Free-Falling…”

Boy, the way Glen Miller played. Songs that made the hit parade.
Guys like us, we had it made. Those were the days.
Didn’t need no welfare state. Everybody pulled his weight.
Gee, our old LaSalle ran great. Those were the days.
And you know who you were then, girls were girls and men were men.
Mister, we could use a man like Herbert Hoover again.
People seemed to be content. Fifty dollars paid the rent.
Freaks were in a circus tent. Those were the days.
Take a little Sunday spin, go to watch the Dodgers win.
Have yourself a dandy day that cost you under a fin.
**** was short and skirts were long. Kate Smith really sold a song.
I don’t know just what went wrong. Those Were The Days.

Posted on February 11, 2013 at 7:19pmHow is it that a family of three gets a $7000 tax ” refund” when they paid in no where close to this amount in the first place and are not buying a home! I pay in $ 7000 and then owe more!
Now this is unsustainable!

Posted on February 11, 2013 at 6:16pmPlease check out this petition and sign it. If the American people don’t take a stand and let Washington know we will not stand for the abuse of our country and economy, we might as well just sit down and stop complaining. Com on people it just takes a signature and pass it on, we need to tell them that we have mandates for them not the other way around http://wh.gov/VZWb

We used to get rid of folks like him but now we walk on egg shells. What a joke we’ve become. A commie in the whitehouse and a nation of freebee takers.

Posted on February 11, 2013 at 5:30pmHave a reporter go in primed with statistics and figures.
“Given the facts that you have had 4 years to work on the economy…. which ___% of voters claimed was their highest concern in ___, and the % of employable people working has dropped from ___ to ___ between ___ and ___ ….also the number on food stamps has increased from _____ to _____ in the same period…. and your previous lack of experience in this area before your election, on what grounds should the American public have confidence in your ability to turn things around now? ”
I’d like to hear that question, or something like it, posed to him live on camera.
Do we have anyone ready and willing to drop that one on him?
How about asking why he hopes to give millions of felons voting rights in this country, AND access to welfare and other services, while telling millions of UNEMPLOYED AMERICANS to take a back seat to illegals looking for work?

How 51% of Americans got fooled twice is mind boggling.
We now have the Obama 21st century slavery plantation – they are called the socialists A- wipes.
Sad that we have lost all character and integrity.
