Phil Bronstein spent more than a year researching a piece published Monday in Esquire on the life of the Navy SEAL who allegedly killed Osama bin Laden. He formed a friendship with the man, whom he refers to only as “the Shooter” throughout the piece for safety reasons, learning new details about the famous raid and — more shockingly — the Shooter’s life post-retirement.
The Shooter isn’t exactly able to write on his résumé that he’s the man who killed Osama Bin Laden– details about the mission are strictly classified and he adheres to a “quiet professional” code. The Shooter says he has no interest in making himself a public figure like the author of No Easy Day, who was also on the raid and was one of the men to shoot Bin Laden after the terrorist had been killed by the Shooter. So where is he now?
Apparently, in the same boat as many of America’s other veterans.

(Photo: White House)
This is a man who recalls the Osama bin Laden raid not from images on a television, but from a first-person perspective. He related grisly new details in his first-ever interview, even sharing what he was thinking at the time:
[Bin Laden] looked confused. And way taller than I was expecting. He had a cap on and didn’t appear to be hit…
For me, it was a snapshot of a target ID, definitely him. Even in our kill houses where we train, there are targets with his face on them. This was repetition and muscle memory. That’s him, boom, done.
[...]
In that second, I shot him, two times in the forehead. Bap! Bap! The second time as he’s going down. He crumpled onto the floor in front of his bed and I hit him again, Bap! same place. That time I used my EOTech red-dot holo sight. He was dead. Not moving. His tongue was out. I watched him take his last breaths, just a reflex breath.
And I remember as I watched him breathe out the last part of air, I thought: Is this the best thing I’ve ever done, or the worst thing I’ve ever done? This is real and that’s him. Holy shit.
[...]
His forehead was gruesome. It was split open in the shape of a V. I could see his brains spilling out over his face. The American public doesn’t want to know what that looks like. [Emphasis added]

So where is he now? The Esquire article explains:
“No one who fights for this country overseas should ever have to fight for a job,” Barack Obama said last Veterans’ Day, “or a roof over their head, or the care that they have earned when they come home.”
But the Shooter will discover soon enough that when he leaves after sixteen years in the Navy, his body filled with scar tissue, arthritis, tendonitis, eye damage, and blown disks, here is what he gets from his employer and a grateful nation:
Nothing. No pension, no health care, and no protection for himself or his family.
Since Abbottabad, he has trained his children to hide in their bathtub at the first sign of a problem as the safest, most fortified place in their house. His wife is familiar enough with the shotgun on their armoire to use it. She knows to sit on the bed, the weapon’s butt braced against the wall, and precisely what angle to shoot out through the bedroom door, if necessary. A knife is also on the dresser should she need a backup.
Then there is the “bolt” bag of clothes, food, and other provisions for the family meant to last them two weeks in hiding.
“Personally,” his wife told me recently, “I feel more threatened by a potential retaliatory terror attack on our community than I did eight years ago,” when her husband joined ST6.
When the White House identified SEAL Team 6 as those responsible, camera crews swarmed into their Virginia Beach neighborhood, taking shots of the SEALs’ homes. [Emphasis added]

The Shooter and his wife are actually separated, but still live in the same house to save money. The $60,000 a year he made with extra bonuses for different activities has dried up, and they haven’t yet found a way to replace it.
“We’re actually looking into changing my name,” she explained. “Changing the kids’ names, taking my husband’s name off the house, paying off our cars. Essentially deleting him from our lives, but for safety reasons. We still love each other.”
According to Bronstein, the only assistance The Shooter was offered was a witness-protection like program where the national hero would be “driving a beer truck in Milwaukee.” The family would have to sever all connections to their former life.
A former SEAL and mentor to the Shooter noted: “These guys have millions of dollars’ worth of knowledge and training in their heads…All sorts of executive function skills. That shouldn’t go to waste.”
Retired Marine major general Mike Myatt added: “It’s criminal to me that these guys walk out the door naked…They’re the greatest of their generation; they know how to get things done. If I were a Fortune 500 company, I’d try to get my hands on any one of them.”

This image released by the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency shows a scale model of the compound in Abbottabad, Pakistan, where Osama bin Laden was killed. (Photo: AP)
Bronstein says one conversation in particular exemplifies the abandonment:
“I left SEALs on Friday,” [the Shooter] said the next time I saw him. It was a little more than thirty-six months before the official retirement requirement of twenty years of service. “My health care for me and my family stopped at midnight Friday night. I asked if there was some transition from my Tricare to Blue Cross Blue Shield. They said no. You’re out of the service, your coverage is over. Thanks for your sixteen years. Go [f--k] yourself.”
The Esquire article concludes with the Shooter’s perception of the movie Zero Dark Thirty, the author adding that a line from the film has been haunting him.
The tactics “sucked,” the Shooter said, and “the mission in the damn movie took way too long,” but other than that he said he was largely pleased.
But the real-life risks and ramifications were summed up by the actor playing the CIA station chief, who warned: “Once you’re on their list, you never get off.”

UPDATE: The blog Stars and Stripes is reporting that the Navy SEAL that reportedly killed Osama bin Laden actually does have health care.
Except the claim about health care is wrong. And no servicemember who does less than 20 years gets a pension, unless he has to medically retire.
Like every combat veteran of the Iraq and Afghanistan wars, the former SEAL, who is identified in the story only as “the Shooter”, is automatically eligible for five years of free healthcare through the Department of Veterans Affairs.
But the story doesn’t mention that.
[...]
The writer, Phil Bronstein, who heads up the Center for Investigative Reporting, stands by the story. He said the assertion that the government gave the SEAL “nothing” in terms of health care is both fair and accurate, because the SEAL didn’t know the VA benefits existed.
“No one ever told him that this is available,” Bronstein said.

Feb. 11, 2013 at 2:59pmMy respects to the shooter, but if he wanted continued medical, pension, and other benefits, he should have stayed in until retirement. He knew the consequences to him and his family of not re-enlisting with 16 years in.

Feb. 11, 2013 at 3:09pmAnd I need to add – he did NOT retire. He got out. There’s a difference.
As far as not finding a job, none of us feel like the US owes us one, we didn’t serve for that. But it is also inversely frustrating to not find work with people who value what we bring to the table. Jobs for Vets is an overused slogan. Unless a vet wants a ‘shovel ready’ job there’s nothing out there, ESPECIALLY if your a retired vet like me. I’ve been without solid work other than consulting for three years since retiring from the Coast Guard.

Feb. 11, 2013 at 3:31pmI started a business with my family. Most companies won’t hire former military unless it is for security or a “mercenary” position in PMCs. I don’t want to live my life working with a gun anymore. Don’t get me wrong, I love firearms, however, I put my sword down as a means of making an income and gave up the life of soldiering. I got nothing to show for it except my training, and that is fine, I don’t expect or ever expected anything for it. However, I will never list down that I was in the military should I ever need to apply to a job. From the experiences of others I know, it tends to hinder you more than help you if you list your military service on your resume (mostly for combat oriented roles.)
Such is the life of a soldier in a country where half the population dislikes or outright hates you. A country whose people think of you as a “necessary evil.” There are no more heroes in America, unless you look to that sick fantasy world of Hollywood. Yet, there are still American men and women out there performing heroic acts everyday in distant hell holes. These are the Unsung Heroes this society disregards and even abuses when they come home. I am one and I know many.

Feb. 11, 2013 at 3:40pmNotice how Pavlov’s theory was applied to ensure UBL death, repetitive training. The same technique used to brainwash the public into believing UBL had something to do the demolition of WTC towers.
Nieve people will believe anything, including 4mm of sheet aluminum shearing 20mm of A36 structural steel. A 707 is 25% lighter than a 767, and KE=1/2M V(squared). For the uneducated in math Velocity is an EXPONENTIAL function, NOT MASS. Basic ballistics, a bullet has to travel 2-3000fps to penetrate steel plate 1/4″, the columns were OVER 3/4″ at the fake impact zone. And that is A36 structural steel (89,000psi), not cold rolled(36,000psi) a bullet would be used on.
Keep bringing this country down by believing a HOAX, the Arabs love you for it.

I take your point. It is quite valid.
But I can’t help pointing out that Mr Obama had no problem saddling the American taxpayer with Secret Service protection for himself and his family for life. Are these men less deserving?
Unlike Mr Obama, these men place themselves, and their families future, in real jeopardy at the behest of their countrymen. One might be forgiven for thinking that a nation might be grateful enough to at least provide continued health insurance…

A portion of the revenue generated from these sales could then be used to help other special forces members transition back into society. It all depends. If you still feel there needs to be an honor of silence, then be quiet. If you feel you owe nothing to a nation and government that has betrayed and mistreated you, then there is good that can be done.

Feb. 11, 2013 at 4:23pmLet me start by saying that I am not a SEAL, neither have I ever played one on TV. However, in my time as a Blue Jacket my rate directly supported the SEAL teams with intelligence and mission development. Consequently, I know a few of the Operators and have stayed in touch with them over the years; I don’t know that many who retired with 20 years, the duty takes a toll on the human body.
That said, RAMAHX is right, the rules are explained to all of us in boot camp; you don’t do 20 you get nothing for your trouble. 20 years is and has been the magic number for a very long time. I appreciate the service of the young man in the story and of every brother in sister and arms for that matter. But some jobs translate more directly to civilian roles than others. My own rates, first as a STG and then as an IS, didn’t lend themselves to wonderful prospects. My service did, however, give me the discipline to go to college and then graduate school and get the best bang for my dollar from the experiences.
What troubles me more, however, is that the POTUS put this names of this man and his teammates “on their list” and then walked away when the political capital was spent.

Understood. My training yielded many personal gains that cannot be measured outwardly. I left that work because of the divorce rate. My children needed a father rather than an absent figure. I know you understand that…. For the record, my decision to leave the community (marriage) was the right decision as many of my friends and brothers are twice/thrice times divorce. I just past 30 years…

Feb. 11, 2013 at 5:20pmSome posters indicating that former military veterans can’t get hired by commercial companies after discharge. I am a Navy veteran and had no problems getting hired after Honorable discharge.
Now let me clarify, that started with a defense company 1981 and I recently retired. What I observed as the decades went by was that the Navy and other services did not want to spend the money training new enlistment ranks as they did when I was in the service. I was in for 6 years and 2 of those years were in electronics theory and specialized maintenance schools. We were trained to troubleshoot down to the component level in the systems we maintained. The Navy and other military branches changed their maintenance concept to a “swap until you drop” concept for changing out modulized spares. Maintenance software and tech manuals and training were also developed along these lines and because of this concept the military had to rely heavily on contractor maintenance support contracts when the troops could not repair the equipment.
So the military saved on training costs, but ended up spending more funds on the contractor support efforts.
Defense contractors suffered also because instead of getting well trainied troops who could start up right out of the military, we got guys with resumes that could only work on one piece of specialized hardware and had very little electronics theory in their resumes.
The median age for my company when I retired was plus 45 yea

Actually, up until 1997 all Presidents got Secret Service security for the rest of their lives. In 1997, it was changed to only 10 years of security after their last term was finished. Recently, Pres. Obama reinstated the “security for life” for all current and former Presidents.
http://www.secretservice.gov/faq.shtml#faq9
Also, your statement that military lives are on the line every day unlike Pres. Obama, I must remind you that it is Pres. Obama who is the ONLY person in the world to receive 100′s of death threats each and every day. It’s amazing that someone who thinks of themselves as a patriot would not think it wise for a sitting President to have that level of security.

(Sound familiar?)You guys and gals, of whatever race will then be in high demand. Feb. 11, 2013 at 9:50pmTo all of you, and you know who you are:
Sincere gratitude is the least I can offer. If our military suddenly became pacifists, the bad guys would not magically revert to their default state of benevolence amongst rainbows and unicorns. Without seriously talented individuals pushing back hard, the public would be educated very quickly on how “tolerant” and peace loving the enemy is. Thank you for the thankless, mostly anonymous service, operators or otherwise, you have generously volunteered for and excelled at. Most human beings would never even hope to have 10% of the mental stamina necessary. Some of you say there are no more American heroes – you’d be wrong. You’re not asking for accolade, and so we may not offer it overtly, but it is definitely there, even if you can’t hear it. You make the rest of us think, “Man, I wish I could do that. I wish I had tried.” Sure the rest of us hardly know anything of what it’s really like, but we still look up to you.
I, and I’m sure many others still believe that the majority of our military is filled with honorable individuals. Knowing this honor exists gives us hope that maybe someday we’ll have some honorable, humble leadership in this nation again, and that maybe there’s hope that corruption and pure evil aren’t the future of the country. We silently thank you and wish we had the opportunity to do it more. I can’t be the only one.

Plus if you talk to people who have come back from Iraq and A-stan, you would know that some people have to wait 6 mos to get seen by the VA. Here is another twist a lot of people don’t know about. If you have full disability from the VA, you get a check and medical. But DON”T dare try to suppliment your income by ANY means. If you do and the VA finds out, you loose both the check and the medical. My brother-in-law is in that situation. It is a good thing his kids are grown, cause it would be hard to provide for them with the compensation he receives.

Feb. 12, 2013 at 11:07amSad but true. I ran into a retired vet getting his morning coffee at our local convience store. 26 years of service. Flat broke was homeless until our one local Pastor took him in as he has been know to do, Last 5.00. They bus them to town gave them a few bucks thats it. He said adjusting to the real world is hard and he had to fight 6 months to get his pension. Just waiting on it as he said. No jobs especially here. And to thoes who said they should have stayed until retirement we dont know why or may not understand. His family fears for their life as stated in the article. We dont know their whole story and really could some of us even think about how we would even do their job. He was for real tatoo Army. Polite. I paid for his coffee ad thanked him for his service. He Said Mam I was just doing what I signed up to do protect our fine country. Think about that and the way he was left. Not one negative comment about the Army. This happens all over and is sad. They serve for the same gvt thats basically screwing them. Something is so wrong.

There are incidents where people have been literally unable to take anymore and the only sane thing they can do is get out! Right now I’m working with a retired cop designing some new equipment for him solving some problems in design. I ask the military dog handlers that are leaving if they want to use their contacts to sell some equipment. You get to bring your dog, go to schutzhund events, military bases and what they say is they want a job with the government. One guy even said he didn’t get hired because they were afraid he would show up all the other employees. I don’t get it, they could make a good chunk of change on a PO but don’t want to try something different. But I’m still looking, I’m sure someone will come to their senses and go for it. :)

Feb. 12, 2013 at 5:25pmAll of you so called bright people unless you genuinely want to help, keep in mind two old WWII adages. “Loose Lips Sink Ships” and “You Must Walk A Mile In His Shoe”. The US Government has released far too much information. In WWII if information that you gave out caused the death of a military Personal It was considered Treason and Espionage. I wonder how the Insurgents got enough information to set up an ambush for a SEAL TEAM right afterwards. I doubt that anyone will ever be prosecuted for it, but it should weigh heavily on their conscious. As for his decision to get out of the service where he and his family are on military records as the Shooter. With it being on a computer record just how secure is that information. Would the former US Military Muslim Doctor in Texas that killed service personnel have access to that information. Retaliation and Retribution is the number one weapon for the Insurgents Muslims throughout the World. He has to protect his family the best way he has available to him.

In this case, it does not. Quit your whinning, man up and get a job. You knew your contract when you signed on and I doubt you served 16 years without knowing what benefits were available or when.

Feb. 13, 2013 at 7:43amWith the physical problems the man has, he needs to file for VA disability, certainly sounds like he qualifies on quite a few areas, joint damage, eye problems, etc. Although the VA is way behind on processing disability claims, from what I read, the sooner he applies the more retroactive pay he would get if approved for disability. If he were to be approved for a combined rate of 100% disabled, with the children, he would probably get around $3000 a month in tax free pay, plus, of course, VA medical care, which really sucks but it is free medical care (you know the saying, you get what you pay for, and it is FREE). Even if he was rated at less than 100%, he would have some tax free income, as disability pay is not taxable at this time (Obama hasn’t realized yet he can screw the military that way, just wait).

Um, no actually the kinetic energy equation is quadratic, not exponential. The predominating term in the equation is the quadratic (squared) term ‘v’, which asymptotically will overshadow the linear ’1/2m’ term but by no means is it an exponential function…

Feb. 11, 2013 at 3:16pmHe would have had to make it to 20 years to get retirement. He *should* qualify for medical retirement, or at least a disability rating. However, at as wounded vet myself, I will tell you that it can be extremely political to get one of those. I do not believe that everyone who served automatically deserves a handout, but a lot of employers don’t know what to do with military service, especially when 90% of what some of us have done is classified. A lot of employers do not want to take the “risk” of being a service member’s first job after military service. It can be quite disheartening to make the transition from military to civilian. I cannot imagine having done that without the support of my wife.

That way the person who walks away after 19 years doesnt get screwed. Pensions are a think of the past. Free market has shown that private investment into retirement fund is much better for a lot of reasons…..The military could retain its long term care obligations for injuries that occurred while in service

I now only have about 40% use of my left leg and I live in constant pain in my hips and back. For my years of service and my actions to prevent injury to my unit mate I recieve a grand total of $0 and I have to pay for my services at the VA.
If I had recieved these injuries from any civilian employer, I certainly would have recieved workman’s compensation and disability. Keep in mind I am also unable to sue the government as all service members sign away that right when they enlist.
This is how America treats her veterans… The funny thing is, most of us would take up arm in a heartbeat if called upon.

First he didn’t retire, he went out at 16 years as stated in the story. Second, I’ve got lots of military family, you retire, the checks don’t come until you reach retirement age. (Not sure if it’s 50 or 55 presently.) My favorite soldier, would have nearly 20 years until the checks would start if he retired now. Also, the VA benefits for health are being cut constantly, just like Tricare which went on obamacare 2 years ago.

Feb. 12, 2013 at 5:09amI’m a former 8 year OIF veteran as a combat medic with an Army infantry brigade and the sergeant (SSG) responsible for compiling and actively tracking all medical information about injuries, profiles, and chapters within the unit, I think I may have a few things to say here.
1) Hoorah! And God bless you to “The Shooter” for a job well done. Your role in eliminating a truly evil man is much appreciated.
2) I have dealt almost exclusively with former Special Forces (SF) and Rangers who were reassigned to our unit after being injured and needing to recuperate, getting promoted without any available slots, or receiving disciplinary action which removed them from their elite unit status. I can only speak for my knowledge of Army regulations.
3) Once a soldier is injured and seen by a provider, he is given a profile. This is a form which outlines the type of injury, the plan for treatment, any physical limitations, and for how long the profile is to be in place. There are 3 copies which go to the soldier, the unit medical section, and the unit commander. This and the doctor notes are a vital pathway for receiving medical benefits beyond active service.
4) All soldiers must be medically cleared before receiving their final discharge orders from service. To get this clearance, soldiers must have their medical records reviewed, for any ongoing treatment or issues which may flare up, by a provider. All prior injuries are also noted for the record.

Feb. 11, 2013 at 4:30pmGarbage. President Obama has nothing to do with the current rules and regulations covering military retirement. Congress establishes military pay and benefits through legislation and authorizes the money to pay for them. If you have a problem with the current rules, take it up with Congress.
That said, I believe if this former Seal’s story is true, he deserves special compensation. Perhaps a seperate retirement system for those who served in Special Operations, Seals, Rangers, etc. Lower the required years of service to 15 total with at least 5 years in Spec Ops. Retirement pay at a higher rate. Or, perhaps a lump sum payment for every year of Spec Op service when leaving the military. These men and women are special and deserve special treatment when leaving.

No, there are no public released pictures. That’s the whole point.
@Slayer
I’m sorry, but I was in the military, and I’ll tell you for a fact that wearing a uniform nor holding a top secret clearance makes one’s character unimpeachable. I’m not even really talking about them though, I’m talking about just give me the damned proof that I paid for. That’s not too much to ask, to not be treated as a child by the very government I am forced to finance.
@Drako
The last credible video I heard about from OBL long preceded this hit. There were rumors, and I don’t know how credible, that he had some kind of late stage kidney issues (cancer maybe? I don’t recall). All I want, is the proof of the act that I financed, to be given to me (us).

Feb. 11, 2013 at 4:31pmghost- well if you just look up images for OBL’s death there are a lot of them but it’s hard to sift which ones are real or not. What I do remember though is that when OBL died, there were pictures taken and shown to the public of his death. I remember seeing them.

Feb. 11, 2013 at 4:49pmThey’re all fake and likely floated to cause Muslims to riot. There were no photos released, at all, that’s the entire point. They wouldn’t release them per Obama’s specific order (look it up), they won’t say where he is supposedly buried and I have no clue what my money paid for.
It just bothers me that an anonymous man supposedly killed a known terrorist, for which no proof has actually been released to verify to the public, and his body was dumped into an undisclosed location under water where nobody can find it without investing billions and billions of dollars (having no place to start looking they’d be taking random guesses), and I’m supposed to sit here and say “Yeah, ok”. Would you feel comfortable accepting that kind of thing in any other time prior to the year 2000? I wouldn’t, it doesn’t even sound like a half baked fiction plot that is believable.

where is your proof they’re fake? See I take people at their word unless I know they’re lying or at least something seems fishy. It’s understandable not a lot was released about OBL. I mean hello it’s the government what else are they not telling us?A lot I’m sure. Here is your issue. You’re calling this man a liar without any proof whatsoever that he is lying. Eye witness testimony would hold in court and it should hold here. Wanna know another compelling case he is telling the truth?
This man is putting his life and his family’s lives on the line. If he was lying he would be F@#*ing up big time. He would basically be putting his family’s lives on the line for what…. publicity…. That would just be sick and this man does not strike me as that insane. Again, I remember seeing photos of Bin Laden dead on the day after he died.
“undisclosed location”
I heard it was in the ocean. Knowing how secretive the government is about national security it doesn’t surprise me that a ton wasn’t released but there was tons of articles on the event and plenty of seals spoke about it albeit anonymously for their safety. Books were written, movies made, articles written, stories talked about, all for what something that never happened? I certainly don’t buy that. People are stupid, but are conservatives that stupid? I don’t think so. It passes

Feb. 11, 2013 at 11:45pmjust to cover Ghost’s back….in this interview this Seal said “OBL’s head was split in a V and his brains were hanging over his face”. Yet the pics we did get to see were nothing of the sort. It is reasonable to question the veracity of the raid’s success because:
1. this administration has lied about many many things
2. OBL used many doubles to hide his comings and goings (so even though the Seal says that he shot a guy that looked an awful lot like OBL, it does not mean the victim actually was Osama)
3. Osama suffered from acute liver failure; it is just as likely that he was already dead before this raid
4. The timing of this raid was just a bit coincidental (pressure of the birth certificate issue, remember? Not like Obama has done something like THAT before….)
5. There was no DNA sample taken (or at least we don’t know if there was) No hair, skin, blood, etc. to verify the kill to the world. Even worse, the burial at sea precludes any further examining.
6. The claim of ‘washing and dressing’ the body to respect Islam is ludicrous, in light of the burial at sea, which is strictly verboten. No one on the ship has stated that they saw the body and confirmed the identity.
I believe it is a far greater stretch to believe that Osama was located, tracked for months and then assaulted at a remarkably convenient time than it is to think that he was already dead and all this was staged with a stooge taking the hit. And this does NOT make the SEAL a

Feb. 12, 2013 at 1:45amvendingdude- there is one problem with all of that. Making the seals keep quiet about a hoax that the administration put together would be near impossible. Something tells me the many seals that came out against this president would not just sit back and let the president deceive the American public. We’ve already seen how outspoken they are about the truth already. It seems unlikely they would partake in such a thing.

Anyone who believes in big government conspiracies has obviously never worked for the government. They are too inept to pull it off, the military least of all. I have seen the picture. Feb. 11, 2013 at 3:04pmAbsolutely, Obama cares nothing for the armed forces and has sacrificed the SEALs due to their political usage having come to an end. He has ensured none of them will receive any care, benefits, or anything else after their terms of service have come to an end, and I will not be shocked to find out their home addresses are in the hands of Al Qaeda operatives given them by Obama.
From Benghazi and so many other instances Obama’s loathing of the armed forces have been made manifest. So the treatment of ‘The Shooter’ is no shock.

Feb. 11, 2013 at 3:04pmyes very good PERCYVERCY….offer some bile instead of acknowlegding how the Obama administration has totally politicized the OBL killing at the expense of the operatives who carried out the mission.
Here’s what then Secretary Gates said:
“Frankly, a week ago Sunday, in the Situation Room, we all agreed that we would not release any operational details from the effort to take out bin Laden. That all fell apart on Monday, the next day.
We are very concerned about the security of our families – of your families and our troops, and also these elite units that are engaged in things like that. And without getting into any details… I would tell you that when I met with the team… they expressed a concern about that, and particularly with respect to their families. ”
SEAL Team six doesn’t even officially exist yet Joe Biden couldn’t keep his clownish mouth shut about them and Obama couldn’t resist gonig on every talk show to spike the football. As a result these families now live in fear of their lives. Go head PERCYVERCY….offer another stupid quip instead of facing the truth that’s your job at media matters isn’t it? By all means call you oh- so- vet -friendly lefty cohort MONICNE and his lip service for the armed forces to join you in your deflections and distractions for the Obama campaign.

As a member of the American public, I’ll be the one to decide that for myself. I have seen worse, believe me. I’m a big boy. I have good reason to not trust any of the information I’m given and am still skeptical even of visual “proof.,” but it’s far better than going on the word of the media – any media – and this administration.

But the choice should still be there. The American public saw a lot of carnage during the world wars and Vietnam. Are we such a bunch of cream puffs now that the “alleged” weak-stomached ones prevent the rest of us from seeing proof that public enemy #1 has been dispatched? He was only “allegedly” behind the worst attack on America since Pearl Harbor. Have you forgotten the suspicious stories surrounding his death: possibly Muslim funeral service, supposedly buried at sea, etc? This government has set itself up to be distrusted and disbelieved. When I am asked to simply have faith that I’m being told the truth, I’m sorry but I do not.

“Not allowed meaning the government wouldn’t allow such a high priority target to be released to the public. Also if they just showed that stuff on TV, children could be watching…. etc etc many Americans wouldn’t like it.”
Try again. We saw footage of what happened to Qaddafi, for example. I still call BS. I would say the higher the profile of the target, the more assurance the public needs that he is dead. Was Osama so “high profile” we couldn’t even know all the other details surrounding his capture and death? It was, and still is, shrouded in too much secrecy.
Furthermore, the media has very little consideration of the impact they might have on children by airing violence on TV. For that matter, do parents shield their kids from all the violence on TV? I’m in my 40′s and I recall, as a child, seeing war violence in the Mideast on the nightly news. Might not have been in HD, but I still got the picture. We don’t even need to see it on TV anymore anyway. There is the internet. I see things here on the TheBlaze I’d never see on TV.
