The Demo Videos for a New Water-Repelling Substance Are Amazing

It is anti-wetting, anti-corrosion, anti-icing, anti-contamination and self-cleaning. What sort of miracle substance could be all these things?

Ultra-Ever Dry is apparently a superhydrophobic and oleophobic substance that repels liquids like nothing else, according to its own claims and the demos shown in its videos.

Here’s how these properties work for the product:

Superhydrophobic refers to a coating that exhibits superior water repelling properties that exceeds 150 degrees of contact angle when measuring the sphere of a drop of water on the surface. Ultra-Ever Dry creates an angle of 165-175 degrees. Well-known windshield water repellents are closer to 110 degrees and are only “hydrophobic”. Oleophobic refers to the ability to repel oil and other hydrocarbons.

Amazingly, it works on almost any material (steel, aluminum, other metals, plastic, leather, fabric, wood, concrete, etc.) as well.

This video showcases how effective it can be:

Here’s how the novel product is applied:

The cost for the Ultra-Ever Dry ranges from $53 for one quart of the base coat and $96 for the top coat up to $905 for five gallons of the base coat and $1,689 for five gallons of the top coat.

Boat hulls are a given. Cut through the water better, less grime and algae build up. Water intake pipes for industry that buildup with crud, zebra mussels and underwater plants and animals. Placed on water slides at theme parks and they become “slides of death”, where the object is to stay on the longest before flying off to your doom. Now back to reality…as a vehicle undercoating. Also, I liked the boot coating. This would cut down on cleanup and maintenance costs in industrial settings and farms. No more cows–t sticking to your boots!

    $53/qt x 4 = $212/gallon x 5 = $1060/5 gallons

Seems like there’s a real expensive 5 gallon pail holding the product as the story stated it’s “$53/qt up to $1,689 for 5 gallons”.

Perhaps this chemical somehow alters the cognitive math processing area of the brain?

I’ll hold off until they sort out their pricing :)

You are right maybe the chemicals affected dome peoples ability to read and do math calculations. I am sending you the following for your reading pleasure:

The are two coats: a top coat and a base coat.

      One quart base coat = $53 x 20 quarts = $1060
      One quart top coat = $96 x 20 quarts = $1920
      Total for one quart top/one quart base coat = $149 X 20 quarts (five gallons) = $2980
      Or
      5 gallons base coat =$905
      5 gallons top coat = $1689
Total for five gallons top/five gallons base coat = $2594

You SAVE $386 when you buy five gallons. That breaks down to a savings of $19.30 for one quart each of the top/base coat combination.

While you hold off, I did the math correctly for you.

Impressive but too expensive to be practical for real world applications. Get your manufacturing costs down to where you can offer it at a somewhat reasonable price and you’d have a game changer. Right now it’s a novelty.

OK,besides the price, what’s the catch? If the EPA approved this product that just might be the catch ! I would wait till we all the facts, if they ever release them.Although I do admit it really looks good. Please don’t turn out to be a killer!!

If I put it on my cat, would it stop licking?

If I put it on the bottom of my shoes, could I walk on water?

I wonder if it would make a good gynecological prophylactic?

If politicians put it on their faces, would they be immune to cream pies?

Will this put Shamwow Vince out of business?

So many questions – so little time…

I was thinking about getting 10 gallons mixing it up and throwing it in a pool. Would the water leave?

Tammy Faye Baker could have used it in a bad way.

Put it on Baby diapers and watch the poop just roll off into the toilet. You would only treat the back half:)

Oh well lots of ideas but I am afraid it will cause three headed babies.

But can it be applied over a painted surface? I’d spend the 150 bucks to coat the chutes on the concrete mixer I drive at work, cut cleanup time in half!

Wood decks would love this stuff.
