Bill Gates Tells Internet Users to ‘Ask Me Anything’ and the Results Are Hilarious
President Barack Obama blew up Reddit when he hosted an “Ask me anything” (AMA) on the social forum (AMA’s are a popular feature on the site). Monday afternoon (EST) into Tuesday morning Bill Gates was killing it on the website as well, but maybe with a little more laughter associated with his responses and the comments back to them.

Gates proving that it is in fact him answering the questions on Reddit. (Image: Imgur via Reddit)
The “I’m Bill Gates, co-chair of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, AMA” — which we all know should read “I’m Bill Gates, richest American alive, AMA” — has some rather light-hearted questions, among serious ones, and equally hilarious comments to the responses from the inventor/business tycoon/philanthropist/second richest man in the whole world.
The top question – What is something that needs to be changed in the world, but money wont help? — received this response from Gates:
It would be nice if all governments were as rational as the Nordic governments – reaching compromise and providing services broadly. The Economist had a nice special section on this last week. Africa governments have often been weak but you can’t write a check to change that. Fortunately the average quality is going up. Mo Ibrahim tracks this in a great way. (http://www.moibrahimfoundation.org/IIAG/)
Interesting comments based on this response:
- Ponoru: Saying something positive about Scandinavia on reddit ensures upvotes.
- Dr_fish: I think just being Bill Gates ensures upvotes.
Another typical questions with a Gates-ish answer: What do you do for fun? I find it hard to fathom how someone like you can just disconnect. Disconnect from the emails, calls ,the media. All of it. What would be your definition of a chill and fun day?

Posted on February 12, 2013 at 7:50pmYou’re right. Its not funny…its downright scary. Everyone thinks that Bill Gates is this really nerdy rich guy that gives away his money. His father is a eugenicist, he is a eugenicist who thinks there are too many people living. He’s been investing in large tracts of land all around the world, invested with Monsanto and tells people that it’s to help feed the world. More like controlling the world food supply. We have a senator, Lamar Alexander who co sponsored a bill a wile back, S510, that would make home gardens and saving heirloom seeds illegal.

Posted on February 12, 2013 at 1:48pmThe blaze is again ignoring the real story here. Many reddit users asked BG why he is heavily invested in Monsanto and why he would support GMOs. He ignored all of those questions. Other people asked him if he ate GMOs and he ignored that question. He was asked about the farmer suicides in India because of Monsanto destroying their farm land still ignored. Just write tour puff piece about a horrible human being. More evidence GB is on the dole.

Posted on February 12, 2013 at 2:21pmGMO’s aren’t as bad as you think they are. If you need to feed the world, science will be your best shot at it. Here’s an interesting speech given by a former anti-gmo environmentalist, with sound reasoning to boot.

Posted on February 12, 2013 at 2:37pmPK_SE drink the Kool-Aid buddy. There is absolutely zero evidence showing GMOs produce more crops. More crop failures are linked to GMOs. In fact GMOs have been know to pollute the ground so non GMOs will not grow. A study has shown that rats eating GMO food are sterile by the 3rd generation and with subjects having hair growing out of their mouths
employees of Monsanto refuse to eat the food they create. A few Monsanto scientists have gone as far as buying their own organic fed milk cows. Do some of your own research and stay off the Monsanto funded websites. Elite’s and royalty a Ike have their own organic farms to produce their food. Wake Up

Posted on February 12, 2013 at 7:58pmThere was an article written about GMOs and how they are lacking in nutrition. The doctors interviewed said that you could eat these vegetables and be starving nutritionally. It also could be a factor in why people are overweight…it cant be corn syrup (yeah, I realize that more people and kids sit on their collective butts) but any hoo…Monsanto is a major stockholder in SYSCO, a restaurant food supplier. It seems that there are virtually no restaurants that prepare food anymore, they just reheat sauces, soups, lasagnas, cakes, pies, etc from Monsysco. The more you’re able to produce for yourself, the better off you’ll be.

And, “What can be done to stop the obnoxious ‘updates’ that won’t work on half the public computers in the country and just might destroy your computer if you own one?” And, did anybody out there NOT want to ask him, “Would you send me some of that money?” And, “Who wrote the idiotic grant on which this computer center is operating, and why were they so hostile to serious writers and researchers?”

But he provides a great example, IMO: Steal something with some buddies, create a company that pushes out cheap, crappy products (think “Chinese model”), and retire as one of the richest people in the World.
Meanwhile, I am still waiting for a version of Word that actually works.

Nice to see you making assumptions about someone you know absolutely nothing about. How intelligent and enlightened of you! The fact that you assumed that I’m an OSX fan because I made a joke about Windows, shows how little you truly know about computers. Had you been a learned person, you would know that there are several other operating systems out there that could be my OS of choice. Try clicking on my user name and looking at my past posts. It’s not hard. Maybe you’d learn something. Or even better, try getting a sense of humor.
For your information, and you would know this had you bothered to learn something about me before unleashing your pathetic attempt at trolling, I use several different operating systems every day. I’ve been a software developer for somewhere between 19 and 24 years now, depending on exactly how you count it.
So let me educate you a little here, since you clearly need it. Windows is, and always has been, a terrible operating system. It’s full of hacks, and glued together technology that open the user to malware and information theft. From a software development point of view, there is nothing worse to work with than Windows, which is why the software written for it is so bad and insecure.
OSX is better, but I still don’t like it. It’s not very intuitive for me. So, before you go mouthing off again, take a break and have a hot cup of STFU.
Thanks!

Also, I just noticed that you called me a liberal. Let me see if I can follow your twisted chain of logic here:
Hate Windows == Love Apple == Liberal.
Wow, that’s a logical leap that only a TRUE liberal could make.

Posted on February 12, 2013 at 10:46amSorry, Bill, but not dying is not an option.
“For it is appointed unto man once to die, and after this, the Judgment.”
The big, eternal question, is whether you have been born twice so that you only die once, or were you born only once and must, therefore, die twice?
Jesus said, “I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life. No man cometh unto the Father but by Me.”
Have you come, Bill?
