Bruce Willis poses for the press with his wife, Emma Heming, after being awarded with the medal of Commander of Arts and Letters Feb. 11, 2013, in Paris. (Remy de la Mauviniere/AP).
Unafraid to speak out on controversial political topics (last week he said to not mess with the Second Amendment), noted actor Bruce Willis on Monday took aim at socialist president Francoise Hollande’s so-called “millionaire’s tax.”
“[T]he star said he opposes President Francois Hollande’s plan to tax the richest at 75 percent and hopes he would be able to complain about it if he lived in France,” The Associated Press notes.
President Hollande’s 75 percent tax rate affects anyone earning more than $1.32 million a year.
Willis, 57, was in France to promote his latest action-thriller, “A Good Day to Die Hard,” and to receive the Commander of the Order of Arts and Letters, the highest culture award in France, for his contribution to cinema.
Previous recipients include Sir Michael Caine and Clint Eastwood.
“It is an honor, a real honor, to be here,” said Willis. “To get this very high honor for the commanders, I couldn’t be more pleased.”
On his famed “tough guy” persona, Willis had this to say: “I like the idea that it would possibly be that I don’t take myself very seriously, that the characters I play always try as hard as they can to think that they’re in charge.
“But in truth, women are in charge. Women should be in charge of everything,” he added.
Born on a U.S. Air Force base in Germany, Willis told the Paris ceremony that he “feels at home in France.”
“I always feel at home when I’m in Paris and when I’m in France. I feel very comfortable here and always look forward to coming back,” added Willis.
The fifth in a series currently celebrating its 25th anniversary, “A Good Day to Die Hard” hits theaters Feb. 14:
Final Thought: Although it’s slightly jarring to hear a Hollywood heavyweight come out against things like unreasonably high tax rates and in favor of the Second Amendment, it’s important to remember that Willis has long professed his conservative beliefs.
“I’m a Republican only as far as I want a smaller government, want less government intrusion,” Willis said in a 2006 interview, according to Foxnews.com, adding that both parties are atrocious when it comes to spending and debt.
“I hate government. I’m apolitical. Write that down. I’m not a Republican,” he added

Feb. 12, 2013 at 6:37pm“but in truth, women are in charge”. That and wussified men who wear there hearts on there sleeves and make decisions based on emotions. Sodomites in the military, lesbians and their lovers being given rights over heterosexual couples, healthcare as a right, cradle to grave security. These are things that many women find appealing because it offers security over freedoms and liberties, however it weakens our country as a whole.

Feb. 12, 2013 at 10:25pmNot to bad mouth females, but the emasculation of men across the board, coupled with womens’ demand to be equal in the workforce, military, corporations, government and everything else is what is killing this country. We’re different sexes for a reason. Why can’t women get that?

Now, they feel that the continent is theirs because they have been paying for it for a decade. With they way that they have been milked by the EU, they should rightfully own huge swaths of land.

If women were truly in charge of everything, they would make Lord Of The Flies look like Mr. Roger’s Neighborhood. How did letting Demi be in charge work out for ya?? Thanks Bruce… It’s only our sons who suffer from your attempts to sell another movie ticket to keep your wallet fat. Nice Job…

Feb. 12, 2013 at 2:23pmUh oh, somebody stepped on your weenie there brother?
Willis has always been outspoken and pseudo-libertarian for as long as I can remember. He’s not jumping on a bandwagon, he’s inviting others to a position he’s always proclaimed. Kind of like a Kurt Russel or Clint Eastwood, you personally may not know their politics, but they’ve never been silent about it.
I know, it sucks to not have all of Hollywood brainwashed and concerned about nipples and socialism. Better luck next time.

to add to Ghost…
Willis left Hollywood in the late 80′s with his then wife Demi Moore and their children. Willis told those that would listen that his move was because he did not wish his children to be brought up in the culture that was Hollywood and preferred a place where they could grow up normally. Basically Willis wanted his children away from the growing Liberal/Socialist mentality of Hollywood so he moved to Idaho, a state with sensible gun laws and concern for personal liberty and responsibility and away from government run society.
Willis has lived there for the past 23 years and has always honored our troops, supported the military, and law and order. He recently donated his Idaho ski-resort to a wounded soldiers charity.
Bruce is nothing short of a true patriot and red blooded American. He has spoken out about his beliefs for going on 3 decades now. He is a Reagan Republican for sure with libertarian leanings.

Feb. 13, 2013 at 12:57amYou are wrong about that. Seasoned conservative actors have no problems in publicly announcing their views, which I recall began when Ronald Reagan jumped ship to the Republican Party a few yrs before I was born. Theres clips of him announcing it, on youtube. Im not a young buck anymore, but younger than Ole Bruce. Those actors and actresses working on making careers in Cal. know they cant express conservative views or they get blacklisted, forever!! And that is known fact since all the heads there are extreme leftwing libs and some are known commy supporters. So, dont tread on these guys who take big career risks to express their conservative stance. Enough said.

“I always feel at home when I’m in Paris and when I’m in France. I feel very comfortable here and always look forward to coming back,” added Willis.
I have to say, I quite agree with this. Paris and France in general is a wonderful place to visit. Forget the politics, what we’re talking about here is a culture of beautiful fit people who sit around all day drinking in cafes and smoking. And despite the persistent myth that they’re mean, they’re not, in fact I received some of the highest compliments about being an American I ever had overseas while in Paris.
