There’s a Medical Explanation for the Scary-Looking Pictures of Joe Biden’s Eye from Tuesday’s Big Speech

You might not have noticed that Vice President Joe Biden has recently been wearing glasses until watching Tuesday’s State of the Union address. In fact, as he sat behind President Barack Obama as he spoke to the country, Biden’s spectacles were barely noticeable.

But why is the vice president wearing them in the first place? It turns out Biden scratched his cornea with a contact lens so he is giving his eyes a bit of a rest from them. When you take a close look, his eye is rather bloodshot and during Obama’s speech it seemed difficult for Biden to keep it fully open.

Biden isn’t the first high profile official to have his glasses noticed lately. Earlier this year, the noticeable Fresnel prism on the former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s glasses suggested she might be suffering from a bout of double vision after her concussion late last year.

Yeah i’ve been there too…. Before I had the surgery to fix my eyes, I wore contacts and had problems like this a lot. The surgery was SOOOoo worth it. not ever having to deal with the pain of contacts or the inconvenience of glasses again.

Just so you know a scratched cornea hurts Joe was uncomfortable tonight. Sublabel making uncomfortable as well. It’s what happens when you don’t clean your lenses correctly.

I think what really happened was he picked up a 32 ounce soda and stuck himself in the eye with the straw. Because it was a straw capable enough to handle a 32 ounce drink, that would make it a massive high capacity straw. I guess some executive order will be forthcoming about mental status and backgrounds checks. No wait, he was washing the Trans Am and did it on the antenna.

That is NOT a reaction to a scratched cornea. I should know because I did scratch my cornea when I was young and no one noticed. That redness in VP’s eye is from a busted blood vessel possibly from high blood pressure or a blow to the eye.

  I’ve badly scratched my cornea twice, and it looked nothing like that. It is either a very bad case of pink eye or a broken blood vessel. I’m inclined to think that it’s the blood vessel.
